Understandable. Bf5 had some impressive qualities, I think I just prefer 1 as by the time 5 came along, I already put a lot of hours into bf1.

Battlefield 1 had somewhat of a resurgence in the past year. 2-3 years ago i could barely find a game, the past few months i’ve had no problem finding a game, including operations. I find myself questioning how bf1 is 8 years old as it is so beautiful and immersive!

Been playing lately the mainline bf games from bf4 to bf5 (thankyou xboxpass) and I'm so pleased they all enjoy a healthy community of players even in my region. Hell, i keep seeing new players lately and I'm jumping from game to game around all week, they are still freaking fun. Using the rifles from 1 and V is just a delight.

Faacts doe. 2042 was a bonkers launch, (even more bonkers if you played it on last gen) but honestly, I have very little to complain about with it today. Just concerned as to how the next title would be treated.

Once upon a time, (I'm sure many can relate) I would beg and plead people to try switching from call of duty to battlefield 3. only to play alone for years because COD has always been the favorite. BF3 was the first BF I played and man it was revolutionary. if battlefield ever blows up and gets the viral success cod once had its been a LONG time coming.

It would be crazy if they had a top-selling game and exceed what's left of potential hype, but they're in a dangerous spot right now. The Bad Company 2-BF1 era was "him". It was just a matter of two top selling shooters, one being more relative than the other to the generations that played it. Now they're adhering to Live-Service strategies and either alot of work needs to be done to make that kind of game in good quality, or an entire rework would be necessary. Who knows what the next game is going to look like, more specifically at launch. This game is fun now, give or take a few matches, but it took way too long post launch to get here.

I only played bf1 and bf5 and got to love especially bf1 because for me it just has some vibe to it, it just gives me the feeling of being a character in a war. Bf5 never gave me that feeling. For bf 2042 i only played the beta which was just a mess and it was the biggest reason why i refused to buy the game. I have it because it was a ps+ title but i still have never played it and dont even wanna play it. It just looks wrong for me, it feels wrong for me. Again, i only grew up with bf1 and bf5, so no modern setting, but still it feels wrong. The beta was just a buggy mess which a friend of mine forced me to play with him, otherwise i wouldn't even have touched it, the game itself with the operator system is something that just isnt battlefield for me. It just wasnt mine. Some of my friends do play it and say they do enjoy it and that its a good game now and isnt as buggy anymore but in my opinion the game should have launched like that from the beginning. I think personally it just was the beta and the launch which kept me away from bf 2042 because of how broken they were. I still regularly play bf1 with friends (and making videos of it) and i was surprised after i took some months off the game with how many people actually play still. Yes u have to use the server browser to find full servers but the amount of players surprised me nonetheless. Im also at the opinion that battlefield peaked with bf1, bf5 was still good even if i have a lot of criticism about the game but its still enjoyable. Bf 2042 will be a game that i may or may not try eventually, maybe after they completely finish it and move on to the next battlefield but for now i just hope that whatever the plan going forward for battlefield is, that they are not repeating the mistakes they did with bf 2042 again and that they make a game which can make at least a good part of the community mostly happy and satisfied.

That's dope that you got to experience bf1 and 5 as the main associators to the franchise, they were unlike anything else at the time. I do believe titles like 3 and 4, let alone Bad Company titles were of the most beloved, but battlefield hit max capacity with their most recent world war renditions. Let's game together sometime, if there's crossplay. Grab some buddies and give 2042 a shot soon, its worth playing at this stage in the game, especially if the game's launch never had a chance to spoil it.

@LifeIsAPlanet I think for now I stick to bf1 mostly, most of my friends only play that as well. Sadly I don't believe crossplay exists. Regarding bf 2042 I will look into it eventually, I don't have much reasons to do it now, none of my friends really play it and playing any battlefield title alone always felt wrong for me and less enjoyable.

Battlefield 1: War is hell, Battlefield V: War is inclusive, and Battlefield 2042: War is a time to be alive. Dice just broaden the concept of Battlefield too much after Bf1.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me or not, but I've played em all since day 1! Iwo Jima is the only map i enjoy in bf5, but the game in of itself just doesn't live up to a full 64 player bf1 Operation. imo of course

Great video. Good gameplay too. Been a battlefield fan since bad company. BFV is tons of fun and was also received pretty badly by the community, only for us to regret it.

I feel like older shooters in general are just better. The newest BF game I actually liked was BF1. The newest COD game I liked was MWR...which was just a remaster and not a new original effort. (at that time) I quit playing new COD's mostly after AW because I couldn't relate to the jumping mechanics. Tried some of the newer games here and there, but they don't feel like the old games at all, so I gave up on new COD's completely. I can't comment on other game genres because I'm not into video games in general, I pretty much only like shooters.

I totally get that. Whether it’s a corporate error, or an error in playerbases communicating their ideas properly, the direction of most triple a titles isn’t as impressive as what it once was.

I wanna know exactly what happened in between bf1 and 5. What exactly was the turning point that made the devs decide, “time to tank this franchise.”

I feel maybe the publisher or higher ups had some strategies to pursue that didn't coexist well with what the internal developers might have wanted to make. But somebody did say that, indeed.

2042’s gunplay sucks, the atmosphere and specialists feel like some random Fortnite war, the call in system isn’t good, the maps are terrible. I ever thought I’d abandon battlefield since I’ve played since bf2 on pc, but I won’t have a problem skipping the next one unless it’s really good. Hopefully they make something with a tone like the older games

Yeah, I've thought honestly that a proper BF3/BadComp Remaster would sell big. It could be that easy. Might be a better direction than where they could be going, idk.

Actually the Technical Differences between Console's is shrinking its the same with PC hardware Go back 10-15 years ago and every year Your CPU's and GPU's where nearly doubling in performance nowadays your lucky if its a 40% Increase. and also Most peoples PC"s are on Par with the Current gen consoles if you look at steam hardware survey's so Rockstar not releasing on PC has little to do with this.

Ok, I get that then. However, it would be silly to underestimate the exponential increase in difficulty of optimizing a game (like 2042) for Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS4 pro, PS5, PC. While with xbox one-xbox one x or PS4-PS4 Pro having very minimal difference, having to execute the game's coding and performance for each one of those separate consoles as well as PC is absolutely insane, (although it doesn't excuse them, other developers manage to do this) Regardless of PC hardware being mostly on par with console tech, there's still each individual port, and each aspect of the game must be developed to perform with each individual piece of hardware and its particular complexity. But like I said, it doesn't excuse Dice or EA from fucking that shit up every single launch, I'm sure that's more of a resources and planning issue that is geared towards Live-service era nonsense, and not a finished-but-lesser product at launch.

Nah Ima stick to BF5

Console ports are not even the slightest valid excuse for 2042. Its a fucking joke. The problems are not port issues, its core competency issues. The game still sucks tbh. I tried giving it another chance this month and no... its still bad. Its just not a battlefield game. Its a garbage operator shooter.

Understandable. There's a lot of missing elements in 2042 replaced by new mechanics and ideas- whether or not they work well even today, we were all rubbed the wrong way at launch.

@@LifeIsAPlanet yea and I feel that these replacements just don’t make a battlefield game. Honestly if 2025 battlefield still has operators instead of core classes… it’s legit over. I don’t think we will see another battlefield title again unless it truly returns to core classes with 64 players and more destruction. No more futuristic crap either lol.
