If the 1906 was a 2 hit kill up to 30m then drop off to 3 and have a slightly faster reload, this would be perfectly balanced and compensate for the 5 round capacity. The low magazine size is really only a problem when in CQC, however at range I find it completely manageable with a bit of trigger control and patience.

I have almost 20 service stars with it. Get over the mag size by not being the first one on the front line and single your targets out and it beats every gun in the game.

It is a clip-fed rifle with an internal magazine. You can't alter history and how the weapon was manufactured just for a game. I'd say make it 2 shot til 30m, and a faster reload. Oh, and possibly a 1 shot headshot.

Okay, let's do that. Now, is there any reason to use the Móndragon? Perhaps for the scope, but with the superior stats of the 1906 you may as well just practice with irons. Point being, not giving a statistically rad gun like this a detriment such as magazine capacity would make the gun incredibly overpowered.

It wouldn't make it overpowered, it would just make it useful. Right now, there's no real reason to use this weapon, since there are much better alternatives for the Medic's gun.

If there were 10 rounds in the 1906, I'd NEVER use the Mondragon again. I may use the 1916 Self-Loading if I want to just have a detachable magazine with a lotta bullets, but overall pretty much everything is moot. On a personal level, since I run a Gewehr M. 95 Infantry most of the time anyways, I'm incredibly experienced with iron sights at long range, so you better expect me to be putting in work with that scaled-up P08.

Despite what most people say this is an incredible gun for the reasons you mentioned. But here is a summary -Cei Rigotti 300RPM fire rate -3 Round kills -Incredible ADS spread of 0.15 (AND ITS LOW WEIGHT!!) -Unmatched 0.1-0.1 horizontal recoil. None of the other SLR's comes close to this -Unimpressive but superior to the M1916 in terms of moving spread (even compared to optical) -Easier than most to get headshots with Cons: -Obviously 5 rounds. - Not ideal for close range clustered fights - Seems to have a bit too much visual recoil. Jumps to the side yet its horizontal recoil is negligible Tip: -If it has 1 round left and one is not in cover, just fire off the last round and reload. -This gun excels in Rush and Conquest with open maps such as Ballroom Blitz, Desert maps and the open areas of most Conquest maps. -Correct use of position and cover can prove effective in CQC firefights This is a gun which is meant to be used in a semi - defensive manner. It has the power of the Mondragon, but the fire rate of the cei rigotti if someone sneaks up on you. I was ready to dismiss as useless, but once you experiment with its firing rate, it can put down enemies at range far more reliably and faster than any of other gun. People like to put the M1916 on a pedestal just because it has 26 rounds and can kill in 3 shots. Its fire rate makes it below average in terms of time to kill at close range. The mondragon is a happy intermediate but is not as precise as the 1906 nor does it fire as fast. It doesn't help that the mondragon doesnt come with a factory varient for t hat ultra fast spread recovery. Its a gun for people who want to learn how to use a powerful but more situational weapon Its accuracy is unbelievable. Also the 2 shot idea is more applicable to a gun that shoots very slowly such as the SR338 from BF4, which after many buffs became incredible. I think that the French RSC 1917 would fit this role. The 1906 with its current stats as a 2shot kill would be obscenely overpowered (especially on PC) and would outdamage many weapons including the 12G Automatic shotgun.

(I know this is a 3 year comment, but well said sir.) Btw there's only one thing i'd disagree with you in this comment, that is how you said the gun is "situtational." I found it to be one of, if not the most versatile weapon in the entire game. You can get the drop on people in close range and it's got a compeitive enough kill time for medic weapons. At range it performs way better than any assault and medic weapons, most support weapons aside from 1917 optical (fuck that shit), and a lot of snipers, if they miss their inital shot.

The flametrooper from bf1 Is going to toast u​ Oh yeah, the Cei-Rigotti is pretty good. I usually use it on maps like Amiens or Argonne Forest, and I love showing off the Fiamme Verdati skin that you get from the campaign, along with the Straight Flush skin for the auto revolver.

nothing, nothing and nothing After WW1 the Germans were forbidden of having rifles in their army, which is why Kar98 was the basic weapon of Wehrmacht soldier. If the German army could adopt actual rifles they'd probably have accepted a Selbstander as a service rifle but only after fixing it's flaws.

I... actually really love this gun. I think it's an absolute monster if you know how to use it right. After using the buckhorn sights with it, and keeping my distance, I've gotten up to ten service stars with it. It's an absolutely brilliant rifle in the game.

I rate this gun, absolute joy to run with. Was running the Mondragon Storm prior to the unlock - im a medic that prefers to stay at medium range and assist - and I liked the reduced recoil on it. Switched to the 1906, and I just find this gun to be faster and WAY more accurate. The gun is even stronger at range than the Mondragon. The 5 round clip is a draw back, but you can usually get 1-2 shot kills by picking off dudes that are already suppressed by teammates. It's not bad in close quarters, if you land 2 shots and are out just switch to the sidearm and bang out to finish the enemy off. Find cover and reload. Theoretically I'd prefer an 8 round clip on it, but given how accurate and powerful it is I can live with 5.

The Luger rifle should not be a two shot at any distance. If anything they just need to make it so that reloading the gun is faster. This gun in the right hands literally cannot lose a mid range engagement due to the fire rate, bullet damage, and the bullet velocity. The only ways to beat a skilled player using the 1906 is to fight them while they are reloading from another kill, or to engage them at close range using a sub machine gun or shotgun or at long range with a bolt action (Where the 1906 with the 2x magnification can actually still compete). In my opinion this gun gets far too much criticism from other Battlefield youtubers like LevelCap and Westie. Instead of looking at the weapon like a smaller magazine version of the Mondragon, I think it needs to truly be treated as a marksman's weapon and not just a combat rifle. The weapon simply requires slow and patient gameplay where the user needs to pay attention to their environment to provide them cover, and to use tight angles to engage opponents one at a time.

The new medic rifle is what the 1906 should have been. I have outclassed many a 1906 user with the 1916 simply because it has the same performance but lower fire rate, BUT has access to scopes.

I actually like this gun, it forces me to play more conservatively which leads to a higher kd

beautiful gun but the ammo count Is really dragging it down

I used to play with the RSC 1917 for its fire power, but the Selbstlader 1906 is really accurate and its fire rate is really good, both are good weapon, but I think the Selbstlader 1906 is more versatil. Plus it's really fun to play with.

I only started using this gun now, and I’ve played bf1 since release. It’s a fun challenge to use this gun once you are better at the game. You have to play more campy / stealthy, look for flanks, stay at a medium range, play cover tight. It’s a good test of skill. Don’t miss. Be good at whipping out your sidearm! Try it on a game of Deathmatch to really test your skills.

There is just something about this weapon that I love - I know when i've been killed by it I tend to go 'holy shit that put me down fast'. It's a great gun in a 1on1 situation at medium ranges. Also at 6:30 there is a multi shot to the scrotum. Both nuts shot off with that volley.

This is a great weapon, but like the video says the 5 round mag is a problem. However, its still my go to medic rifle and it rewards the more skilful player.

I really love this weapon. Its gorgeous, the animation is good, and with enough practice its deadly. I REALLY wish it had.... at least a 6th bullet haha

One time I got a triple kill without reloading, no clue how but it was pretty badass, I can get 2 kills regularly too

I have 15, because I can't main a gun lol. I have to constantly switch weapons and even classes, the 1906 is still my favorite and most used gun in BF1 though.

can't really say the toggle lock is odd as in the 3rd the us almost adopted a toggled locked rifle the Patterson but the choice to stay with 30-06 in place of 280 petterson allowed the garand to pull ahead the the testing

very solid gun, hard to use but rewarding once used right

I have a feeling there was a mishap back then that the toggle on mechanism accidentally hit someone in the nose after unloading

actually it would be based off the borchardt cocking design not the p08. and also p08 is just a scaled down c93 by luger. really it was a great redesign, but it is the like mp18 to Japan's type 99

Imo i think the general liu rifle is much better, it has a bolt action mode that can shoot faster than all snipers, and a hidden feature i didnt know until later was it has 6 rounds in the gun but can reload all 6 or 5 at a time.

It has a cool reload. That's about all it has going for it.

This toggle action would later be used in the prototype Pederson rifle chambered in .276

One of the most rewarding rifle for amazingly skilled players. Probably better on PC since it's easier to aim and control the recoil. By controlling the recoil, you get one of the fastest time to kill in the game: it kills as fast as the rigotti at close range, but it's more accurate and does the same damage at all ranges. If you get pinched, it's usually at closer ranges where a pistol is a better choice than any medic rifle. If you are the reactionnary type (switching to your pistol during an engagement) the No.3 revolver is the better choice. However, if you are the more cautious and prepared player, the Autorevolver out damages the No.3. So play with cover: Peek out of cover, fire at about 250 RPM to have perfect accuracy (because it's a factory variant) and if you are pinched, switch to a trusty revolver. It is highly underrated because of how high the base skill needed to use the gun is.

I have 120 kills with this rifle. It's a fun rifle and playing with it will teach you the basics of shoot and hide.

Also, this gun is fun to use, but reloading all the time gets old quick, kinda like the BAR.

On my PS4, my full reload for this gun is glitched. It doesn't show you put in the stripper clip.

To me its pretty good, just hug the walls for cover, pair it up with a good pistol (in my case the 1911) and u can get real decent with it even though it has a poor capacity

Never understood why the bullets you reload are muddy when you put them in the gun. They'd be relatively clean, assuming the bullets are in some type of carrying pouch. Plus, who puts muddy bullets in a gun, unless you want it to eventually jam.

Hey guys I currently have 73 service stars with the 1906, you heard that right. It was my favorite gun but the winter update actually NERFED it. Sure they increased the accuracy and decreased the spread but they increased the recoil recovery time by 50 percent (the time it takes for the sites to reset/fall back into position after every shot) and they didn't put that in the patch notes wtf?! I noticed it right away after the update it's a huge difference! YOU CAN'T KILL PEOPLE AS FAST ANYMORE at medium to long ranges because the sites start flying above their heads! The gun was good in the first place because you could drop people faster than the mondragon and 1916 at longer ranges but now it's the same because of this nerf and there's almost no reason to pick this gun now. I'm pissed they ruined my favorite gun and I'm im also sad that people pick this gun expecting it to be good especially after hearing it got buffed but will never know how good it used to be... the changes to this gun was just Dice trying to please the community because they were upset with a gun not because it was bad but because it only had a 5 round clip and in the end they ended up fucking it up.

im one of those crazy bastards that rocked this gun for 300 kills to get the sniper version. its not too bad. 5 rounds is irritating but it trains you to actually aim instead of tossing lead everywhere and hoping something hits. i dont know why, but i love to use the "shit" guns and end up doing well despite the shortcomings. its def not a god gun, but the fast fire rate is really cool. 3 hit kill at a decent distance capable and you still have fire rate to get you out of hairy CQC situations. i love it but as soon as i start running into groups, i bust out the autoloading 8 .25.

i love this gun and perhaps not hating on 5 rounds but i wish it have faster reload speed because the way of he cocking the hammer back (im not a gun nut so i will call it that) and insert new rounds or a whole clip in is way too damn long

I really like this gun. 5 Round in the mag to kill 1 dude is enough for me. Because even if i use weapons with more mag capacity, when i get outnumbered i will still get killed anyway.

Can't see them increasing the ammo capacity. Also can't see them increasing the damage much for this gun. If they were gonna make a 5 round capacity medic gun, it really should have been 2 shot kill.
