Battle of the Jubilees - Underground VS the new Generation
Buy your Jubilees here: paducahhometheater.com/collec...
First, there was the underground Jubilee. It brought amazing lifelike sound to the living rooms of a select lucky few. For almost 20 years there was nothing like it. Unrivaled. Until now. The new Jubilee is every bit of tech. Every bit of speaker knowledge. Everything Roy and the Klipsch crew has to put into a speaker. From the inside out, the Jubilee has been completely redesigned to be a brand bew beast. For the first time ever, we are putting them side by side. We can list the variances all day but, what do those differences mean in a listening space. What do those differences mean when you put them in your living room?
Lets find out.

Great job. Love the in-depth comments exploring the differences between the two speakers. Now you've got me looking for some of the music I didn't get to hear in your video, lol!

Great job guys. I heard the same things at the local demo here in Minneapolis awhile back. The bass is indeed a large part of the package. I have upgraded the set of UJ's I bought from you with the AXI's and dual active subs and a good tune in the 4080, so I figure I am 90% of the way there compared to the new ones for less than half the cost, so I am happy!

I heard the new Jubilees the other day at my local dealer and was totally blown away by them!!! They are now one of my favorite speakers on the planet, regardless of price.

Thanks for the insightful comparison! I also heard no music in the first half of the video. From minute 29 I could hear the songs. Maybe it's a country specific thing because of some rights on the songs and google has to follow that? I have a request for a next wonderful comparison. In this video it is so that exactly then was switched again between the speakers when my hearing had just adapted. Because...I don't want to hear primarily what sounds "different" when switching but what depth of musicality etc. I experience in each case. I myself have the old Jubilees since 2008 but with TADs. Here in the video with the standard driver for the K402 horn I found the old Jubilees but still very nice sounding, even in the mids at eg the heavy metal guitar sounds. The new Jubilee is an incredibly good speaker. Its strengths in the bass I can not experience because I currently listen to BBC monitors that play anyway only to 40 Hz down:) I need to find my headphones...

Thanks for watching and for your thoughts! There is no music actually playing in the video for the first half. In this half, we are listening to copywritten music, telling you what we are listening to, and discussing our thoughts during and after. We unfortunately cannot play this music during the videos or the whole video will be pulled. At the 29 mark we introduce our usual tracks that we are allowed to post on air. -Jason
But what does the DSP do? What kind of bass boost is built in? What about high freq. boost? That's what I'd like to know.
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV
8 ай бұрын
the dsp on both has peq's to smooth out response, as well as an electronic crossover. At least on the old ones you could get in there and boost whatever you wanted to. the new ones are locked down, you'd have to add a second one.

Comparison sounds like using my built in eq. on my Yamaha receiver with my homebuilt khorns and switching it in and out. The built in dsp on the Yamaha definintly smooths out the midrange (6.5 Audax with tractrix horn and brings out more highs on the EV35 tweeter). Really, horn speakers need a dsp to smooth it up.
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

Both of them have a dsp, and are smooth in the acoustic chamber. They just don't have room correction.

Was that meter in A or C weighting? Interesting video. Thanks!
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

I believe it was in C weighting in this video. We try to keep the same in each video but the meter resets each time so, to be honest, we occasionally forget to switch it back with everything going on in these. -Jason
How about a comparison between contemporaries Paul W. Klipsch & James B. Lansing who both started a speaker company in the same year? This would be an epic battle of the titans: Klipsch Jubilee vs JBL Everest DD67000. As a side note: can I ask a CONTROVERSIAL question? How about replacing the jubilees active crossover with a Klipsch KDA-1000 dsp-amp, could it be done and if so, what are the positives and the negatives of doing this?
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV
8 ай бұрын
that dsp on that amp is more limited plus the amp isn't something I'd use with jubilees.
I'd like to hear these go up against the Danley Hyperion.

How important is room treatment for these speakers in a 14’ x 18’ room with 12’ ceiling?
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV
Жыл бұрын
Room treatment is very important in every room. No room is perfect. That said, I've heard them in everything from a gym sized room to a smaller living room (set and leave with no specific treatment) and amazing was the only word that came to mind. While treatment will take it the next step...they are still gonna sound great even without. -Jason

The new seem a bit more refined while the old more wild and less balanced but both Amazing. I dream of one of the two in the same way. Wish one day I can afford It. So hard here in Europe. Great job!!!

Listening thru Klipsch earbuds and they sound pretty damn similar with an ever so slight edge to the new Jubes. Bit more detail and clarity and maybe cleaner, but not a ton. Of course that’s on my end.

When will klipsch redo the cross over and fix the breakup and phase issues that Dannie Richie has pointed out? I am a fan boy of the company as my father had the K horns in the eighties.

Doubtful. I personally don't take much stock in "research" that is designed to point out "flaws" to sell "upgrades." ---Essentially creating a problem to sell a solution. I mean...its a good idea from a business standpoint.... but that's as much credit as I will give. The designers and engineers at Klipsch are awesome at what they do. Some of the mods and "upgrades" are a bit of a slap in the face to them. -Jason

Thanks for watching! We do enjoy the music and the listening but are "intently listening" as opposed to listening solely for enjoyment as we do under other circumstances. Listening for specific differences between the two models in order to compare and contrast. RBF appears to be real when doing this. hopefully its not too terrible. :) -Jason
