I purchased these Klipsch RP-8000F II last month. You can find better sounding speakers, but it would cost much more. When considering "bang-4-the-buck" speakers, these represent true value in sound reproduction. As good as they sound in the store, they sound better in my home, and seem to have opened up a bit after 30-days of use, and last Saturday, fulfilling song requests from my neighbors.

thx for the comparison. Even through in the room the difference might be bigger but i tried this: When i watched the video and seen the switch between the generations i could clearly hear a difference but if i closed my eyes i almost never hit the switch between the generations and coul rarely tell which was which. I think i can't justify double the pricetag over that : D

True it is a larger difference when in room but, both options are awesome. Really can't go wrong either way. For most it's going to be just like you said----its for sure an upgrade but, is the upgrade worth the cost difference?...thats for each person to decide on their own. That said, who knows how much longer gen 1 will be around! If you're going that route, may want to pick em up while you still can. ;) -Jason

Kudos for being among the first reviewers to sit down and compare those. The MK II are still a tad bright, but the new tone or direction is definetly more agreeable, tho I'am mostly set on the KLH Model 5, but reckon a pair of those could be a Backup plan, if things go wrong. I'am sure people wanted to know weither to go for the MK II or OG, since the price difference is significant, but I believe after hearing it from you guys, the Upgrade should be definetly worth the Extra. Afterall, they're still way more affordable than the RF 7 III, and more likely to be discounted on Black Friday.

Many thanks for an excellent demo. I listened to this through my 8000F first gen. and I could hear a considerable difference. In my opinion the second gen. are to bright at the high end and they loose that punch at the low end. Maybe it's my old ears, but I prefer the warmer sound from the first gen. Think I will stick with the first gen...for now...

A little bit more room treatment (rear wall diffusers, side wall absorbers) would go a long way, but the differences between the two speakers is very apparent! When these speakers go on sale, it will be hard not to consider them.

    @PaducahHomeTheaterTV

For sure. We have considered different options for room treatment but we move things around so much, anything permanent is difficult to justify. We may pick up some mobile options before next season so we can move the treatment depending on ours as well as speaker location. We will see what we can come up with. Great comparison! Could clearly hear the difference in the video, let alone how it must have sounded over there. Did you also try swapping the speakers? Outer speakers to the center and the center speakers to the outer position? to eliminate wall clearance differences? Curious to what it might to to the low end because of the rear ports being closer or further away from the corner of the room.

I'm 60 years old and I don't get the listener fatigue either. I bought a pair of Klipsch Heresys in 1980 which I still own to this day and I can crank them for hours, but the receiver/amp makes a difference. They are being powered by a Marantz 1090 amplifier which takes a lot of the harshness away and gives them better mids and bass than any other receiver/amp I've every had them connected to. With that said, all of the previous receivers/amps that they were connected to through the years I still played them at a deafening volume and it never bothered me. Must of been all of the loud concerts that I attended in the 70s and 80s. 😂

They would sound loads better if they crossed one the 8" drivers as midrange. I own the RP-8000F and my only complaint is the 2 way design. That might cost a few dollars more! Klipsch will refer you to one of the Heritage speakers if you want 3 way.

I'm just starting to upgrade my new old standard Home Theater to the Full Home Theater setup. almost 100% I'm using my setup for movies not much music. I planned to buy the gen 1 two months ago but the gen 2 is coming. So this is the best way to compare. I think for the music the Gen 2 does a very great job with the clear and punching sound But the gen 1 sounds warmer to me. and the price difference is about 900 USD between gen 1 and 2 I think for a movie man like me can save 900 bucks for the atmos or new surround speakers lol Because the movie performance would not be that different between these two gen I think BTW I have to thank you for this video so much. Because now I know what I have to buy next 😳 I'll go for the gen 1 for sure because I'm using this for pure movie

Thanks for watching! Both gen 1 or 2 would be great options. Movies vs music won't play a huge role on the decision though. Typically if good for one, its good for the other. Where you will notice the big difference here is in the cabinet structure and the overall sound. The bigger horn, the divided cabinet, etc. Gen II is a upgrade for sure. That said, Gen 1 is on sale everywhere so, bang vs buck is going to play a huge role in everyones decision. -Jason

@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV Thank you for the advice. But I just have my good news today because I just got a brand new RP-8000F II for a super deeper special price for some reason. But still doesn't test yet. Because I'm moving my movie zone into the bedroom and the speaker itself is so heavy I don't want to move for many times because it's gonna be bad for my back. But I think this will easily match with 504C and RP502s from Gen 1

The 280F and the Gen 1 8000F had a noticeable "hole" in the upper mids. The Gen 2 seems to have fixed that. I also like the additional bracing to tame the resonance. Gen 2 is certainly improved and is the clear winner to me. I'll be ordering them very soon.

The camera showing the speakers has a wide angle lens and it makes them look a bit closer than they actually are. They are about 18" or so from the back wall. Gen 2 sound clearer at mid to top but it at the same time it sound bright/harsh for me. Gen 1 isnt brighter than Gen 2 since Gen 1 is a lil muddy at top it's actually warmer/darker sounding for vocals. I listened to this on my phone and my rp8060 fa to hear the difference. I prefer Gen 1s.

At first I tried to listen to this video through some cheap desktop speakers, and to be honest couldn't hear much of a difference. Put on my headphones (have multiply sets), turn off any dsp my Sound blaser AE-7 had on, then heard the difference. Bass levels seem the same to me, but cleaner. The biggest difference I heard was in the mid-range. A lot better, the original did have a little suck out/veiled mid-range, reminded me of the HiFiman HE-400i's headphones. The II's mid's had more presence, while the highs seems less harsh. To me it they are more balance now. What is funny a lot of people mentioned that the Klipsch always had a little suck out in the mids with their two ways. It was about time they listened to some of the criticism of their products, to approve them. Now if Klipsch would come out with a new 8" stand mount speaker that is passive to replace my modded RB-5's. I would reconsider buying the brand as I need stand mounts.

Probably will be fine. I don't sell those so I'm not sure about tone controls. However that model does not have the autoformer which is good, too much to get into here but an autoformer kind of neuters the impedance curve that your amp sees and could make your speakers sound different than expected. A traditional transformer like this one is probably better for what you mentioned.

I know the new 2's are better spec'd and build stuff, for mine the 2's sound like somebody hit the loudness button. On the 2's the upper mids and HF, lower mids and LF seem to predominate and the 2's are just louder. Mids seem slightly more intergrated on the 1's. IMHO, wasn't sitting in the room with you guys✌. Thanks for professional comparison tho, awesome.

@@mikek5631 It's a matter of taste. Then Gen2 sounds cleaner but also brighter. For bad recordings like some rock they sound too steril/cleaned up, where as the Gen1 with a more toned down tweeter sounds warmer/darker.

@@uztrewas For sure. I agree. I will say that I feel gen 2 is a step back as it's returned a bit of that Klispch harshness it's been criticized for in the past. Gen 1 completely changed that but appears they've reverted. A few reviews that have gone into the tech analytics of the performance all but confirm the gen 2 have taken a step back in some areas. They are still quality speakers and I doubt most people will have issues with them. But if I were buying new speakers today and was set on Klipsch I think the better buy would be to pick up some Gen 1's at a deep discount.

Do the 8000f need an amp? I have a powerful Denon and I know an amp is going to clean things up a bit, but can the Denon push these to where they sound as good as my RF-62IIs? Should I buy a 2 channel amp or send these back>? I've owned the RF-62s for 12-14 yrs. I was thinking about the RP-6000F just as an upgrade. Your 62IIs are the next gen up from mine. Not sure if there were any major upgrades with yours. Even though I would hate to get the 6000Fs and hear no difference. Sounds like your 62IIs are a sweet speaker. If you haven't done anything yet, ( I'm a little late to the party ) Emotiva has some very nice entry amps ( Base X ) I think their 2-ch runs about $450.00. They also have a good return policy. Drop me a line if you have any thoughts on our 62s.

Your video makes real anticipation. Have ordered the boxes in walnut in Austria for 644€ the piece. Had once the old 8000er but the room modes were unbearable. Then bought the 6000s, which were better for the room that i live at the time. But something was missing. This lively of the 8000. There where you want to jump up and go to sthraight to the Metal. Gone. The Fragile from Yes or Pink Floyds - Time had much more emotions. Even my girlfriend at the time, who is not so audiophile, has noticed that. Was always so unspectacular when listening to the 6000er in comparison to the 8000f. Now I've seen that there is the MK2 and it sounds dreamlike from your mouth. So ordered in Austria. Thursday they should come. In the larger room now sounds the 6000 even weaker than it already does before. And vinyl is not known for fat bass anyway. Hope the 8000f II now makes everything more awesome. And perfect that you use a very good sounding progressive Metal Song. This is what i hear personally a lot. Like Dream Theater, Cae Serin and so on. I thought too, that the Old Gen sound better for Metal. Hmm...i hope not :D I'm curious how they sound in real. Thanks for the Video. Helped me to hit the Buy Button :D Audiophilish greetz from Germany!

@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV No worries. Everything is fine :) Hmm... they sound good, but the effect was not that big. Its a bit dissapointing that they "just" sound a bit bigger in comparison to my old RP6000f. I think the old 8000 had more punch and habe a bigger stage? I think they should not have made the horn bigger. It was big enough and now it sounds a bit too bright in my Opinion. Or, its just my Room. The new room is much brighter soundwise. I change my flat the next time. Hope it will be bezter then. The build quality is much much better. All edges are completed. The Cabelpanel is hire quality. Its a big step i guess. I have the waltnut color. They look very sexy. Love it. Overall, they are fine speakers. Maybe they just more time to open in Sound. Will have my fun with them. :)

The newest gen has come a long way. If I had to choose between the two, I would say the newer gen is the winner. That said, there are still significant discounts on the older gens so, if cost is a factor, thats something to consider as well. As for the receiver, I would recommend something a bit beefier. Either of those will work but, neither will have the ability to push these speakers to their full potential. -Jason

Problem is, recorded lower frequencies don’t transfer in these sort of videos nearly as much as the higher, resulting in what sounds like a much harsher listening experience than what you may hear when sitting in the same room as these speakers. That was definitely my experience while listening to this video. While the higher frequencies became much more pronounced when switching to the new version, I couldn’t pick up any noticeable difference in the lower end. So, to me, it just sounds like Klipsch doubled down on the fatiguing sound that’s long been synonymous with the brand.

It amazes me how some of these comments actually prefer the gen 1 better (phone speakers??). It's inferior in every regard and that's a factual statement. Huge Dip in the crossover region unless you sit way below tweeter axis. Theres so much more body to the version 2 speakers due to having a summed 1-2k region which is crucial for guitar body and vocal fullness as well. Klipsch did a great job correcting for the gen 2's. In fact, they sound much more in line with their heritage line which always has that fullness in the midrange rather than a v-shaped scooped sound. Hate to say it but gen 1 is just sadly thin and should be forgotten. Buy the new generation unless you're a fool haha! (And buy from Paducah or else you're a double fool!)
