6 films and this was the best 3 minutes by quite a long way. This is what we want as fans. A TRANSFORMERS film. Not a terrible human love story with some robots.

First of all, Charlie’s story with Bee was not a fucking love story, it was just a story about a girl trying to navigate her way through the world and having a hard time moving on from the death of her father, it wasn’t until Bumblebee came into her life and helped her move on from the death of her father.

@@HenryLouis21 the other films had 'fucking' love stories. And they were terrible love stories. The Charlie story was too much human. The film was better, but again nobody cares about the humans or their story, whatever that story may be. It's called Transformers. Not Humans. Plus that awful scene with that dive at the end...pointless. Bumblebee didn't even need saving so it was a stupid feel good moment that was as cheesy as all the rest of the stupid feel good moments in all of these films.

@@vxrdrummer First of all, Transformers stories can do well with human characters. I agree that these movies are focusing too much on the human characters but I think the Bay movies have ruined people’s perception of human characters. Second of all, how was that diving scene into the water pointless? Also, Bee was clearly enveloped by water and Charlie was concerned for her friend and dived into to see if he was alright, what did you expect Charlie to do? Nothing? Also, it did seem like Bee was going unconscious and Charlie was able to keep him from getting knocked out. Also, that scene wasn’t cheesy at all. Also, that “stupid feel good moment” actually gave the film some sense of levity. Because feel good moments is what gives movies some sense of levity and makes films like Bumblebee good to watch.

IKD man. For a story taking place far from Earth millions of years ago the transformers (and Cybertron itself) look too 'human', like stuff humans might build in the future, rather than aliens we have never cross paths with at this point. Special mention to Optimus, whose protoform wasn't even finished in time to appear in the film. Other than that yes, the designs look great.

How do you know that? what we see is plenty of escape pods leaving and 1 of them containing our main character Bumblebee. For all we know some of those pods might get destroyed later off screen or launched to end up on a dead planet or asteroid. The only thing for certain is we know Bumblebee and Optimus survives, but thats not much to go on

We see at least 7 Autobots leave in escape pods before Bumblebee. By the time the Decepticons destroy the launch tower, all of them had left Cybertron's atmosphere. We even see a few going off in other directions when Bumblebee watches Optimus make a final stand (presumably to establish bases on other planets).

@@Darkinu2 true, but he needs to refine his voice a little more, just so he can meet the Peter/Optimus standard. Even Peter said that when he was brought to do the recording, he noticed that Josh made a bunch of mistakes voicing Optimus that were things he wouldn't do. Thus they had to do a lot of editing.

This was probably the best scene in probably the whole transformers franchise

which is way better than that barbaric ripping and tearing plus that cat/ saber tooth peeling like mackerel in the end of Transformer 2 really caused sore eyes. These are advance alien race. Instead of killing like cavemen, it's far better now they kill with percision, sharpness and clean like special forces.

Optimus sounding genuinely alarmed when he sees that Soundwave, Starscream, and Shockwave are spearheading the Decepticon attack is so refreshing. He's a leader first and a warrior second, and not for lack of prowess in combat. _Three_ of Megatron's inner circle represents not only a force that can overwhelm him, personally, but also a surge in enemy leadership that will surely overwhelm and slaughter the Autobots.

@@rambot_14o43 he survived the army but likely didn't fight and defeat all of them. Plus, maybe in the beginning he told the Autobots to roll back because those three rarely appear in the battlefield and when they do it's because they're planning a big attack.

I love how Bee is actually an important part of the team so much that Optimus is actually asking for him even though he doesn't have a proper name yet. And his Cybertronian mode looks so cool. Reminds me of the Cybertron games if they mixed that mode with his new muscle car alt modes. It was good to hear him talk too... for the while that he did. The voice really fit him. Also I screamed when Soundwave showed up with his iconic voice. While I really like most of the Bayverse designs, they did Soundwave dirty.

God, that 2 second scene of Starscream and his Seekers shooting up while transforming and then raining death from above is EVERYTHING to me, as is this scene. Love the accurate Soundwave and Shockwave, but Starscream will forever be my favourite. "PATHETIC FOOLS! THERE'S NO ESCAPE!"

I LOVE the final few seconds of this clip where we see the lower east side of cybertron that was blown away when it was blown out of orbit from its host star. We never got to see that battle. Maybe someday :)

The fact that Soundwave, Shockwave, and Starscream were all introduced in the first reboot within a single minute is just awesome. I mean cmon the other live action ones had Shockwave die within 30 mins of seeing him, Soundwave was basically useless, and Stsrscream looked like a Doritos chip

If I had a time machine, the first thing that I would do is show 80’s kids this masterpiece.

I like how I can actually see the dread in Optimus’ face when Soundwave appeared. One thing the Bayverse lacked (Among a lot of other things) was facial expressions for the transformers. It was really hard to sympathize with them when they all had the same stone cold faces when expressing anger or sadness. They got better after AOE, but that’s only because they made their faces more human like. Which then makes no sense when they’re Cybertronian. Not humans. This movie did good to allow Optimus’ optics be his way of expression. Since half his face is a literally metal plate.

After the autobots and decepticons teamed up to fight and exile the quintessons, then they had peace until the cybertronian war broke out (due to Megatron) which lasted 81 eons and destroyed cybertron.

@@gn019202492000 Consider the fact that most fans bailed on the movies after Bay's shitstorm that was "The Last Knight", but then came back for Bumblebee for one last chance, and were just like "holy shit, Travis Knight is a god". And because this is a reboot, yeah, Bay's movies are done, so now it's a second chance. And this absolutly shows the potential.

They literally threw as many Transformers on screen as they could and I’m here for it.

Michael Bay started the Bayverse with absolutely no knowledge of what Transformers was about. He gave us exciting and disappointing content too. Travis Knight knew what he was about to create, what he was working with. Look at the best G1 reincarnation in Live Action movie, with a great scenario. Wasn't even disappointed.

You know that there is No Coincidence when the Chief of Communications and Intelligent, the Principal Scientific Supervisor/Commander of Logistic Operations and the General of the Air Force/Second in Command of the Decepticons are fighting in the same area as the Leader of the Resistance Autobot. You can see the worry of Optimus when he see the Megatron's trio at the same place, he knew they should hold back on that moment.

This was the first and only time in all of the franchise in which I could actually distinguish the characters and understand what was going on.

There will never be a more perfect Live Action Transformers opening than this.

This part of the movie actually felt like the original cartoon. I’m not even kidding. I feel like a 10-year-old, in my PJs watching an episode of G1 Transformers from the 80’s whenever I watch this part. It was just amazing. 😁

Who is here after watching the new transformers one trailer and wishing we got this instead?

When the studio asks you to make a bumblebee spin-off and you un-ironically make the best transformers movie in the first 5 min of it. Travis Knight is a legend just for that alone

It’s crazy how within the first 3 minutes we get all these beloved transformers with the best designs ever and already a better story than any bay movies

THE OLD DESIGNS! Seeing G1 Starscream's design (all of their designs) was soo nostalgic and his voice. Also Starscream, Shockwave and Soundwave stole the scene i loved this. It reminds me of being a little kid again !!

Absolutely perfect opening prologue full G1 style, sadly i dont think Hollywood will ever make a feature length film about just the War of Cybertron focused purely on the Transformers. They should but i think it would cost them an absolute fortune in CGI/VFX and the studio are not confident putting up such a budget, compared to the possible gains from box-office tickets. This is what the fans want, but i just don't know whether enough of the general mainstream audience would turn out to see such a film; as they are conditioned to follow stories on film with human characters. This is the dilemma the Transformers Movie franchise will always face.

I’m pretty sure it’s the amount of money to create a transformers movie or universe on a scale that size that discourages movie developers

This is what I've always wanted to see. A whole movie based on Cybertron with action scenes like this would be epic!

When I first saw this in theaters, it put a big smile on my face.

That Optimus entry was literally perfection. It definitely was fan service to show him jump over the fire and shoot with his blaster in the same way he did in the g1 movie. And these designs are flawless. Not a single fault to be found in them.

Seeing Optimus prime with his original design really sells it for me!

It sucks that we’ll probably never get a film EXACTLY like this with the same designs. But even so I’m content with coming back to this scene and smiling like a kid every time

When this played in the movie, there was no way I was ready for it. It was too good to be true, I thought someone in the movie house played the wrong movie. I love how respect to the original transformers is written all over this clip

This movie honestly felt more true to the original source than the bayverse movies. I hope we get more movies like this for transformers.

Going into this movie, i knew i was going to be in for something special. But this opening scene knocked it out of the park. I love the new G1 homages.

I feel like if they would have just pushed Starscream over he would have yelled "Decepticons retreat!"

I love how the Transformers look like actual Transformers and not walking junkyards.

In the minute 2:18 That courageous tone of voice that Optimus makes wow sounds very powerful and full of adrenaline. And the music complements it perfectly.

the absence of decepticons and megatron was deeply felt in rise of the beasts

THIS is how you take the 80s classics and make them fully 3d! So awesome. They all looked like the cartoon, but fleshed out (cartoon did lack detail and realism). This is so awesome. If this is what they did with the first movies, they'd have been taken differently and done better.

you can tell the opening had a lot of love put into it, from the characters like wheel jack speaking ( ears light up ) to Soundwaves original voice and design. Bay really butchered the franchise.

WHEN did Soundwave and Shockwave have their original voices? its John Bailey doing them and if you heard those voices before you could easily tell them apart from the real thing. John did absoluetly great on those 2, but it actually sounds like a fan made knockoff attempt because thats what it is.

butchered? transformers videos on youtube like video essays and clips easily reach millions of views. an entire generation grew up on this franchise and may i add _loved_ it. if you’re not okay about this because you just don’t like them, then this is about you. those millions that grew up on this (admittedly, mess of a) franchise may have never even heard of transforming robots from outer space in their lives. Bay may have very well have portrayed characters that could have been way more than just cgi mutilating beasts, and he may be an expert at sexualising his movies to the point of absurdity (which could definitely mean stained the franchise), but he expanded the horizons to something we as children may have never imagined could be possible. This precise scene could have never even existed if it wasn’t for the bayverse. and this isn’t even mentioning the catatonic success and popularity bay achieved with only the first trilogy. yes, they are not the best movies, but they at least showcase how amazing and wonderous a concept like ‘robot aliens from outerspace’ could even be syccesful in the first place. Far, from ‘butchered’ in my humble opinion. Hopefully the next one, Rise of the Beasts, will build upon it’s predecessors, and learn from their mistakes. So that, as my fellow fan mentioned in his comment, this may be the next steps to salvaging this franchisw.

@@emie1170 I actually liked the Bayverse movies, for the most part. The designs were good, the transformations were better, and the fights were pretty cool (though I didn't like when they started adding gore that basically looked like humans and animals but made of metal) But the human scenes were kinda hard to watch or just cringe.

I love how they made megatrons 3 lieutenants very presence on the battlefield terrifying

Because it's THREE members of Megatron's command staff. And it's not just that, it's his XO, his Communications Chief, and the head of the Decepticon R&D. If these three are in the vanguard of the assault, then Megatron is likely leading the main force right behind them.

One thing that I always felt made this opening war scene so badass is how much it reminds me of the first 2 Terminator films because they both start during the war in a night time like atmosphere giving that constant nonstop battle vibe were no matter how many soldiers go down they have to keep fighting to ensure their own survival. I really I hope one day we got an extended version of a war scene like this with a terminator like OST giving those dark ambient vibes that I love, it would give transformers that more adult feel while still being safe enough for kids. The Netflix show tried to do this but the story pacing and cheap voice acting killed it for me.

Amazingly reminiscent of the 1986 movies in terms of visualisation! And yes, the best Transformers movie in the live-action universe!!

It wasn't that hard to make them accurate to their G1 Counterparts in the end. As someone who grew up with the 80s cartoons this was like living my childhood again.

We need a Transformers movie like this. Less humans.

I don't mind the human factor as long as they aren't super annoying and only useful as McGuffin runners.

Can you imagine if this was how they started the live action films off in the first place. People would have gone crazy.

im sorry, but youre about 6 years off. Transformers started on September 1984. 6 years might not sound much, but thats 1 and a half olympics off target

it's a shame, travis knight never should have left, this movie is much better than the awakening of the beasts, the sequence of bee in travis's hand would be amazing

I knew the movies before the original cartoon and this scene introduced me to it, holy smokes the stuff I missed out on. I would’ve loved to have this be a movie trilogy

I am happy Rise of the Beasts will follow this timeline and not the Michael Bay one.

This opening scene is BEYOND BETTER than any goddamn thing in the Bay films. You cannot and will not change my mind.

This director should be the only one allowed to touch the franchise from now on, you can tell when someone loves the source material and grew up with it.

This has to be the best Transformers movie, by far. This was made by a real fan.

I would do anything to have the 1986 Transformers Movie remade and look like this

what I would give for an entire prequel movie on cybertron, with all the autobots and decepticons. Cybertron looks so gorgeous here.

THIS is what Transformer movies supposed to be like, I don't nee humans in them or if it is on Earth - minimal human presence!

This....THIS!! Is what they are SUPPOSED to look like...this cybertron scene was exactly what i wanted to see....soundwave looked and sounded exactly as he was always meant to....decepticons....attack!! They're all in this scene! Jazz, Ironhide, Optimus Prime. Soundwave, Starscream, !Shockwave...incredible!! Having the original voices made me so damn happy....!! This opening sequence in the bumblebee film was as close to a real transformers movie as you can get...
