Batten down the hatches in a remote bothy with storm Kathleen - A Scottish Adventure

Welcome all
Today i am out on a two day Adventure with my brother Paul, a well needed adventure and this time we are heading to the West coast of Scotland to stay in a little Bothy which i wont disclose. Many of you may know of it already, its not a mountain bothies association run one so its less well known.
The weather report was to be pretty wild but didn't expect it to be that bad, Ohh how wrong i was.
First this bothy was a task to get to up a rock face but opening the door you are met with such a cosy little room with a bunk bed style sleep area, a table a metal fire a beautiful view through the window looking out to sea. This view was to die for as many would say.
A good selection of fire wood was left but we needed more so after we settled in and got things ready we went out to gather some wood supplies.
The weather was changing quick, rain and wind was constantly on and off. Bringing a good supply back we could relax a bit. The bothy had been built privately and had a tin roof which was strapped down with ratchet straps. The wind was making a good attempt to take it off but luckily failed.
The fire provided us with a great cosy heat along with many candles that gave us light in this dark bothy.
A plentiful supply of food was at had and ate well and had fresh water to. The Sea became wild and rough as waves crashed against the rocks below, quite frightening to be near. The rain was very heavy at times and we watched it out the big window like a TV screen.
Exploring the coast line with caves and finding some useful items for the bothy as we combed the stoney rocky coast.
Our two days was up and we had enjoyed it all, not the best sleep but that was the weather that kept us awake. A good hike out in the wind, the rain had gave us a window to escape.
Big thank you to my brother Paul for sorting this Adventure it really was a good one and very different.

Thanks for liking the videos, scroll through them and make use of the places i have been and maybe you might get to one or two of them in time when you feel ready. Its not a race and there is no rush, take your time and do it for you and what you need to get peace in wild camping or a bothy for that matter. Steve 👍

Hey great videos buddy. I'm a guy from California and watched your videos yesterday almost all of them. I saw the one where you were talking about mental health. I love camping but have also struggled with the same stuff you have like going out again. The prices of things have become way out of hand I admit. I mean in the U.S. is probably even worse. We also have a lot of violence problems here. Many guns are getting in the wrong hands and we have a lot of gang problems also. I'm turning 40 in August which is going to be a shock. The time has gone by quickly. Many people are scared to go to certain places here like big crowds or other places because some idiot might cause a mass shooting or something. I am not scared buddy you can't live life in fear like that.

Thanks for the very eye opening and reality comment my friend. Its extremely difficult for many people and sad to hear about all the violence and gun crime its a very sticky one regarding the laws over there. Mental health is a top priority for all and needs tackled, getting out for starters will do the world of good to get away from the house and set foot in different surrounding, a big deal for those who struggle but the weight that leaves you is huge and the benefits that you get are as equal. I have to say we are lucky here in Scotland and the UK, we do have a lot more freedom to get out and don't have the same issues for violence and gun crime and wouldn't know how i would cope with that. I hope you find some peace and quiet in the countryside areas. Things will improve and if you make a plan and small goals and they work for you then thats all that matters. Thank you for watching the videos, that means a lot and hope you get something from them and put them to use over there. All the best Steve 👍

Oh thanks for the reply buddy I look forward to seeing your new video. I have been watching some bothy videos from other channels and watched some about the Grwyne Fawr bothy. I guess it's the U.K.'s smallest bothy. It looks really cool though and has a wood burning stove. The scenery is really nice around it. It has a small upstairs room. One guy said you might be able to fit 7 in it if you know each other well that was funny. I'm doing fine I'm a pretty tuff guy who has seen a lot in my life. You might have heard of this bothy.

Nothing special its just good old Duck tape, the metal under the original rubber is pretty thin so duck tape gave it that little body of grip. It could still melt i guess but i always keep an eye on it now lol Steve 👍

Love the videos, but have to say I do find it irritating when you tubers share bids, and try to keep the location a secret. What's the big deal, it's not just your goodself BTW. It's very common amongst youtubers. Just a tad selfish in my view. But I do like the vids.

The owners of this particular bothy have requested that people don’t publicly disclose the name or location as it is not owned or mentioned by the MBA.

Thanks for the comment, yeah it can be annoying in cases, the reason i didn't say where it was because i have seen others there and they didn't disclose where it was so kept that as a Curtis thing. I do understand where you are coming from so no offence taken. There are so many private bothies about, some you have to ask the owner for the key some you have to book in advance and others are just locked. They types of owners like to keep things low key. Cheers Steve 👍
