In this video I analyze who would win between Batman and Deathstroke, using feats and scaling from only the main DC Comic universe.
Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy the Joker.
Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021.[4] DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.
One of the most iconic characters in popular culture, Batman has been listed among the greatest comic book superheroes and fictional characters ever created. He is one of the most commercially successful superheroes, and his likeness has been licensed and featured in various media and merchandise sold around the world; this includes toy lines such as Lego Batman and video games like the Batman: Arkham series. Batman has been adapted in live-action and animated incarnations, including the 1960s Batman television series played by Adam West and in film by Michael Keaton in Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992), and The Flash (2023), Val Kilmer in Batman Forever (1995), George Clooney in Batman and Robin (1997), Christian Bale in The Dark Knight trilogy (2005-2012), Ben Affleck in the DC Extended Universe (2016-present), and Robert Pattinson in The Batman (2022). Kevin Conroy, Diedrich Bader, Jensen Ackles, Will Arnett, Jimmy Kimmel, and Keanu Reeves, among others, have provided the character's voice.
When Batman discovers a mysterious package containing DNA test results proving that he is not Damian Wayne’s biological father, the Dark Knight sets his sights on his son’s true father-Deathstroke! But Damian Wayne can’t really be Slade Wilson’s son-can he? And who sent the package-and why? The ultimate custody battle ensues as the World’s Greatest Detective and the World’s Deadliest Assassin clash in stories from the pages of DEATHSTROKE #30-35.

A couple more fights: Batman 2016 #38: After Deadshot and Deathstroke go to war in Gotham; blowing up bombs, shooting at each other, hand-to-hand, for five days straight; Batman knocks them both out. It’s stated in the issue that Batman was “a year out from kicking a tree”, which is a reference to the events of Year One meaning Batman had only been around for a little over a year at that point. So even if Slade wasn’t fatigued from fighting arguably the best marksman in the world for nearly a week, it was so long ago in the characters’ careers that it isn’t really relevant when brining up either character as they exist now. Slade and Batman improve massively throughout the years: ie Slade having his arm broken in their first fight VS being able to stalemate Batman while Slade was at 25% of his power in the N52. In reality, Batman being able to knock out two super assassins after they’d been fighting each other for 5 days isn’t really an impressive feat against Deathstroke. In Batman Universe #1 from 2019: Batman fights Slade while trying to apprehend the Riddler as well. They each tag each other, and the encounter ends with Slade punching Batman before Green Arrow knocks out Deathstroke with a knockout-gas arrow. Not really a conclusive or definitive fight, and it was published an entire year before Slade high-diff lost to Batman on purpose in Batman #87; and two years before Slade fought Ghostmaker while nerfed, and trained, and got a Lazarus Pit amp. ☮️❤

@CRISIS Pre-flashpoint batman simply outscails pre-flashpoint deathstroke, and he outscails him massively. Pre-flashpoint deathstroke has been stalemated, dominated and beaten by countless people: bronze tiger, Jean Paul, Deadshot, David Cain, Cassandra Cain, green arrow with katana, nightwing, Roy Harper, even his daoughter Rose kicked his ass in darkest night. Bane actualy corrected his back too, but sadly I can't remember which comics that one was. I also believe, you interpreted Bruce's and Slade's second fight from pre-flash point in detective comics a bit wrong. Slade's advantage over Bruce is, that batman allways holds back. Sure, yes, he did put batman on the ground two times in that chapter, but you are heavily underplaying, that in that third round, Slade dirrcetly prepared himself to put batman down for good., his only mistake was, that he said those words outloud. And explicitly because Slade said those words outloud, it gave batman incentive to stop holding back and easily defeat this deathstroke, which he did.
Deathstroke general weakness for batman is no one really hires him to kill batman so he never tries to kill him lol.

All and all IF they had time, we would have one of the sickest fights in the last game of the Arkhamverse, hell, with Slade knowing whi Bats is and all.

I feel it’s safe to say Batman is a more skilled fighter being able to stick with super soldiers and powered villains while Slade is a better fighter because of speed strength stat etc.

@@truzzprod.8191 Most def by our regular metrics. But in comics, not so much. Humans in comics are much more capable than what real life humans are capable of. By comic standards, he's still a human. He hasn't taken any steroids or strength-increasing drugs like Slade has. Slade has a serum in his system, whereas people like Dick and Bruce don't. Yet they can contend with him.

Nightwing is WAAAAAAAAAAY more skilled than Batman in martial arts. 1- he is has natural muscular disposition towards it. 2- Trained body from childhood 3- the correct mindset. What Batman has over him is: 1- in years of experience and not by a lot. Nightwing has already surpassed him in skill. 2- Uses more gadgets, and can carry more equipment in his suit 3- Smarter and Better detective skills 4- more adept at using and creating technology. 5- complete military training, against the Robins(Nightwing included) focused training. 6- Multiple phD's in different areas. Batman is indeed a superior hero, but only when it comes to the complete package of skills he brings to the table. Nightwing is canonically a better Martial Artist. He even uses lighter gear and carries less gadgets precisely because he can make do with mostly just his suit and his martial arts. His reflexes are so fast that he can literally predict when someone is about to press the trigger and disarm them right as the enemy tries to shoot. Here's another piece of Evidence, during his time as Batman, Grayson actually engaged criminals directly, unlike Batman who always strike from the shadow and use every advantage to take the biggest number of enemies before engaging directly. The reason for this is because Grayson can use maneuvers that Bruce Wayne simply can't replicate, all from his skillset as a trained circus performer, he is much more agile than Batman is.
The fact that most if not all encounters that Deathstroke has with the Bat he walks in nerfed or gets nerfed throughout the fight or doesn’t care about the fight at all let’s me know the writers realize Batman would lose and need a reason for Slade to be defeated bc the good guys generally win.

What's stopping batman from using his intellect to build a weapon to kill slade, even a nuke would do it. If batman wanted slade dead it would be so.

This care for consistency and context makes you a top-tier Vs Debater youtuber in my mind. Great video.
The truth is, no non-superpowered character should be able to beat him hand to hand. It's not just his enhanced strength, speed, endurance, his reflexes are basically instantaneous. Getting past his defenses is like looking at a mirror and trying to punch your own reflection in the face. Your reflection's hand will always be in the way. That's the reason Nightwing has done the best against him. Nightwing's quickness is unparalleled, and he's a super unorthodox fighter. Deathstroke can't predict Nightwing's strikes. Even with perfect reflexes, Nightwing's fist or foot is moving so fast that Deathstroke sometimes can't move his own body quick enough to block it.
They always have to nerf deathstroke or just flat out make him uninterested when he fights Batman so he doesn’t beat him. I think he should technically beat him on equal footing. It seems like they just don’t want to show it.

I guess Deathstroke destroys Batman makes sense, with all the buffs Nightwing received, Starting his training way younger than Bruce but also having Bruce’s and numerous top tier martial artists like even being good enough as a kid in one issue of old to be a candidate for Sensei-O training even and so on, Deathstroke is a villain meant to rival entire teams not heroes in Batsuits necessarily. Arkham origins was so legendary, it had everybody thinking Batman bodies Slade 5-1 instead of 1-5 lmao, I’ll admit this was informative since I didn’t know everything of their history. I’m a bigger Grayson vs Slade fan personally.

In I am suicide batman said to bronze tiger he's better after bronze tiger asked if batman got slower. Batman's remark was "No you're faster" Then we have guys like ghostmaker said to be batman's equals. DC just needs to release a definitive list.

@@user-lp8im7ow8s you're talking about his training in knightfall volume 3 when he regained his skill by sparring with Shiva for roughly 2 weeks and he learned the leopard blow after seeing it once? That wasn't an actual fight. DC rebirth detective comics Shiva put him down and told him he's not match she's been playing a part. Insinuating that she's been holding back. I love batman (literally my favorite superhero of all time) but nightwing seems to scale above all that every combat feat batman has struggled against raptor while nightwing casually took him down. Then we had his fight against Shiva where he fought with a broken rib or ribs and slade... Need I say more? The latter 2 push batman to his limits while we have an injured Nightwing contending. It was nightwing who beat Slade *twice* in the recent crisis. While Bruce struggles to beat slade (any win was usually slade playing a role as stated in the video)
I think Arkham Origins' trailer is my favorite depiction of the two. You can see Slade's a bit stronger, faster and more agile, but Batman's gadgets and raw skill help him hold his own. It hits that perfect sweet spot for me that doesn't disrespect either party.

I do think that using Batman’s tech as a slight against his prowess is unfair. Deathstroke uses knifes, swords, guns, etc. strength gap or not. The tech should count as part of Batman’s arsenal in a fight. The fight is automatically unfair with Slades superhuman capabilities so him using gauntlets and tech is fair game. Excluding vehicles and armors ofc

Something people forget is that one of the Captain America's who was technically a super soldier became that way due to a decades long regimen of training and exercise.

Even before when I didn’t know comics well at all and hardly knew who batman and deathstroke was, I always thought deathstroke was stronger then batman. This video isn’t surprising to me but what’s more surprising is shredded from TMNT fought batman once what a collaboration
The thing i love about deathstroke is the amount of respect he has for his enemies. Hes always throwing out compliments.
On paper stat-wise deathstroke should win but Batman wins for the stories sake.
0:42 Not exactly a good argument when we have Squirrel Girl beating Thanos. Just because it's fiction doesn't mean it's exempt from criticism. One moment Batman is "beating" gods and the next moment he's getting a can of whoop ass from a baby. Batman's power scaling is more bipolar then Texas weather.

Great vid but I feel batman beats deathstroke more. Batman is more skilled. Also over 125 styles he master. He's beaten Shiva before, knows every pressure point and recently, took down slade and dead shot at the same time..I'm going with Bats. Slade is my favorite villain though

This is crazy with the context of Seth's video of a I'm not 100% sure what variant he uses a more comp Batman of his feats with a more canon Goku with their feats. With no powers Batman is millions of times more strategical (in methods to beat opponents,), better intuition, even with his memory whipped from Fortnite he found a way to come out every time within 22 minutes even after getting his memory whipped. Batman has better pressure point attacks, even beating people who have pre cognition or scale to others who fight with precognition even Batman has precognition himself to an extent like in the Arkham games with his intuitive body reading. In conclusion the fact slade scales to this insanity.

i really appreciate you for talking about "consistency" in DC comics. Batman (a human) hurting godlike beings with his punches or kicks is simply a laughable joke. writers love to give batman the advantage over anyone "because hes batman" or "he has prep time" is just a poor excuse for plot armour. especially how defensive batman fanbase can be when it comes to batman vs superman.

This is closer than people would think. It’s not as simple as “Batman always holds back.” To me Deathstroke has more W’s and better scaling than Batman but I haven’t read every comic so I wouldn’t know.

When i heard that Deathstroke was the willain in son of Batman i become really excited. I always wanted a good fight between the 2 in any "mooving" media. You can imagine my dissapontment when Batman literally manhandels him. I'm still waiting for that fight but luckily arkham origins and its trailer is here to fill the void until it happens.

It’s crazy how most of these fights Deathstroke has to be poisoned/nerfed whenever he fights someone of importance
I love the character of batman so much more than Deathstroke, but Deathstroke wins in a short term fistfight. But then again, in the long-term, Batman would win. What Deathstroke has over batman in fighting skill and strength, Batman makes up in intelligence (and vise versa) They outmatch eachother in different ways, but they are equals.

Does Batman going all out Mean he’s Using Lethal techniques? I feel as if that is a good question. If he’s fighting Dick and going “all out” but refraining from using his most effective techniques & barely loses, I Think it’s safe to say he wouldn’t have lost otherwise. Same for Slade, Is Bruce Actively trying to take slades Life? Or is he Simply not pulling his punches. Not to disagree with the outcome of the video, but questions like these do change the Nightwing scaling.
If this was a Batman who doesn’t hold back then Batman would probably win. The thing about Batman is he continuously holds back and that’s what stops him from reaching his true potential. I’m a big Batman fan so I know.

Can you do a comic Spider-Man strength scaling because I study Spider-Man(without amps)because I try to explain he has feats(overpowering firelord,and him lifting the daily bugle and penn station which weighed thousands of tons and staggering/overpowering the hulk and the thing and griffin)that put him above she hulk and the thing when they don’t have amps and that his feats aren’t pis/outliers.And also he has multiple feats that put him on par with regular Wonder Woman too

@@spideraty1529 but as you said they’re high tier feats. I mean Wonder Woman has been hurt by bullets a couple times but that doesn’t mean she’s consistently bullet level in durability. She’s one of the strongest members of the Justice League so comparing Spider-Man to her is like comparing Spider-Man to Green Lantern, Shazam and others.
I've always thought that a captain America vs Geralt matchup could be pretty interesting
One question is how many martial arts does Deathstroke know? We already know that Batman knows approximately 127 different martial arts, but how many does Deathstroke know? Maybe Slade knows a number of martial arts equal to or greater than Batman's or much less. You can't give me a solid answer
I think the most important part is that u cant stat slade's power , same for darkseid for exemple, he is just "strong" , his strenght dépend on how strong the autor want him to be, +since he is a villain he doesnt have the same plot armor as the hero... for exemple , when he fought brion, he jumped from 20 floors like nothing, and throw his blade so fast we didnt saw him move , or he also beat 7 member of the justice league on his own, And some other time ,he is just around peak human lvl (by dc standard)... his real strenght was never stat so he is kinda inconsistent

The most fascinating thing about Batman is that when he knows he won’t stand a chance against someone he always have a plan to always turn the odds in his favor that’s why I like him.(knight wings better)
There was a fight where Batman was beating deathstroke pretty easily but got distracted by riddler. There was also a fight where Batman beat deadshot and deathstroke at the same time

Oh you went over it lol But if it happens consistently like Batman reacting to speedsters multiple times, taking out red lanterns, dodging omega beams etc And others in the batfam on that level IE: Wally west saying he’s surprised at dicks speed multiple times and Dick even reacting to him I just think those would put Batman on top

@@zeuxconors2185 also btw, deathstroke caught two speedsters effortlessly one being Wally west and then he made a deal for his powers. He also mentioned in the video when he fought multiple heroes one of them being Wally.
It's rough 'cause Slade was made into a Supersoldier and comes armed lethally. It's more than fair that Bruce evens the playing field.
