This was, is, and will always be THE Batmobile. The cars from the various movies were posers. This car having the cast signatures makes it PRICELESS.

Right you are in your observation. This Batmobile is a replica. The Batmobile sold at the Barrett-Jackson Suction was, in fact, original Batmobile #1. It is owned by a gentleman in Arizona named Richard Champagne, the owner of a major trucking company. @@pizzasubs
I remember the Green Hornet show-and of course, how can we forget Batman? Thanks, guys!

a simpler and better time, when we didn't have the kind of social problems or national worries and didn't have to worry about social media freaks and North Korea nukes. yeah, back then, entertainment and escapement was fun. You didn't need video games. You could watch shows and then go out and practice your imagination and dress up and explore the world of creativity.

@ BobAdams You and me both brother !!! I watched the TV series growing up in the 70s and fell in love with the Batmobile. Also Batgirl and Catwoman Meeeeeeeeooow. Lolol
Thank you Dennis for sharing these two iconic TV show cars. Loved the history behind them. And the specs.
Cool cars cruising thru a beautiful neighborhood.
The original Green Hornet show car was on display @ the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles for many years. One of the interesting aspects that separates it from the replicas are the 2 brooms, one mounted above each back tire. When lowered into place they obliterated the Black Beauty's tire tracks. Robert Petersen's 1st museum was on Hollywood Blvd. a block north of Grauman's Chinese Theater, and named CARS OF THE STARS.
Love the Green Hornet Black Beauty, especially the original one.

What a cool experience to be able to drive the Bat Mobile ❤️
Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed, Roger. Ready to move out!
These cars were a huge part of my youth! And I'm thrilled that so many of the stars actually sat in and signed the Batmobile. But I have to ask... who is this guy and how can he afford to have so many amazing cars? I mean... he's got them all (well, maybe not James Bond's Aston Martin DB5... but maybe it just isn't shown here). What a "super" collection!

Me too! Well that and Catwoman, Julie Newmar of course. (the Only Real Catwoman, in my opinion) Oh, and Batgirl. They looked SO Hot in their suits!
I bought an old 77 Mercury marquis 2 door sport that had a 460 in it. That thing would fly on the highway! It had all original adjustable air rear shocks that would lower and raise the rear. It even had the original 8 track player and rear fender skirts that came off.
I live in NJ...Saw two of this man's Batmobile's exhibited at Asbury Park Boardwalk some yrs-ago...Felt like a kid again 😄!...& John was quite the gentleman in showing me & a few friend's same...Hope to see him again someday!

John's a great guy!
This one is missing the 2 pipes which stuck out the back, which were for creating an oil slick. Originally, the Batman TV show was to be shot in B&W, so the original striping was done in white. I learned this from the guy who worked for George Barris and did it. Then they decided to shoot it in color, so the striping had to be redone in red. The 5 original TV Batmobiles were painted in a dull black because reflection wasn't a good idea to be filmed and it would look shiny on camera anyway, without reflection. I guess that it is now years ago, but I met George Barris at the SEMA Show in Vegas. It was the first showing of the restored Monkeemobile and the restored Batmobile #2, made of fiberglass from molds made from Batmobile #1. There were 3 more completed and Barris had atleast 2 more uncompleted shells stack up in back of his shop. Batmobile #2 and the Monkeemobile were restored by the same restoration shop near Sacramento and I met the couple who owned the restoration shop at a local Autorama show on #2's first tour. Their next project was going to be Batmobile #1, which George Barris kept in his possession since he created it. Possibly, this Batmobile replica was made from one of those extra unfinished molds that Barris made?

@@Dude101p It's great when you actually get to meet and talk to the people who built these special cars! It's also been said that the first Batmobile had a top speed of only 25 MPH. It's hard to believe, but, built from the Lincoln Futura, it was made to be a show car and only driven in and out of an event. That's probably why they built 4 fiberglass stunt cars.

This batmobile, which he said was a replica made from molds taken off of the original, is probably from the Fiberglass Freaks shop. They made their own molds from the original car and they are actually licensed by DC to build the replicas. Three of the original cars (2, 3 and 4 if I recall) were mostly used for promotional tours to malls etc. Since people kept touching them and leaving finger prints on the paint jobs, they were covered in black felt while on public display. A batmobile covered in felt, could you possibly get more 1960's than that? :)
@Rigel_Chiokis

@@automatedelectronics6062 As far as I know, George Barris rebuilt the engine, drive train and suspension of the 1955 Futura so it was actually driveable. Car #5, the primary stunt vehicle, was actually a metal car according to an old interview I read somewhere.

Absolutely. It was done seriously. The frat boy persona of Seth Rogen was a horrible fit for the character in the movie.
My favorite car is Batmobile when I was a kid I used to watch the episodes so I could see the car LOL
Love both these cars! Seth Rodger’s Green Hornet wasn’t the best film, but I enjoyed it as a kid. The Imperial is awesome and is a great tribute to the original car. I hear there’s another Green Hornet film being made. Hopefully it will be more faithful.
The only thing cooler than these cars are guys save, collect, and love them and are awesome enough to share them with the world.
They called every demolition derby driver in southern California looking for cars for the green hornet movie . I sold them a roller
Great cars. But truly disheartening to learn that over 20 Imperials were destroyed. They, in themselves are really fantastic cars.
You can have a Batmobile too, they build them at Logansport, Indiana at Fiberglass Freaks. They are the only authorized builders by DC Comics. They also rebuilt the #6 original Batmobile. See one driving around town every once and a while...
Had both of these as corgi toys as a kid. These are in much better shape than mine were.
Holy Toledo Batman I seen someone named Dennis Driving your Whip. As a 7 year old in 1969 I never missed any reruns of Batman series. At least 10 times each episode. Lucky Man Dennis.
This brought good memories. Thank you very much.
Before the Batmobile became a big deal , I attended the Beverly Hills car show, held on the lawn of the high school. Barris was there in a brown one piece jumpsuit, where he stayed between the monkee mobile and the bat mobile. This Batmobile in this video is much nicer.

Not really. The production company is MadStache, Inc. and a lot of talented people have been involved over the years in the production of the show. We just never ran credits.
People give so much credit to George Barris for building the Batmobile. But just watch the Glen Ford movie "It Started with a Kiss" to see how it looked as the concept car it started as. Barris did so little to it, you can barely tell the difference.

The original builder of the "Batmobile" I believe his name is "George Barris" the top speed was 45 mph he said that they just sped up the film to make the car look like it was going fast..When your a little kid it looked like Batman was flying around going 100 miles per hour it's amazing the tricks Hollywood has even in the 60s..All great cars...👍

I was 6 in 1966, if I saw that batmobile back then I would've been in heaven, I'd do the towel around my neck running around, da-na-na-na .
Seeing a car driving down a suburban street with bonnet mounted machine guns be like🤯
My dad got to mess around with a Batmobile Barris brought to Detroit in '66. One of my siblings has a Polaroid of George and my dad sitting in the thing, Dad behind the wheel.
HOLY VIDEOS BATMAN!, what an amazing nostalgic cruise!!! Yes Robin, all he needs is a searchlight with my BAT logo in it!
Those are some really bad ass vehicles 👍
After school every day, glued to the tv, enough said!
Amazing cars nobody create others cars like this cars great George Barris Rest In Peace.
With a Stash like that Dennis. You don't need a cape.
I showed this to my wife so she doesn''t think I'm so nuts for buying a toy of the TV batmobile a year or so ago. At least I didn't have to have the real thing.
Merry Christmas and a Thumbs Up.
Agreed that the TV Batmobile will always be the standard cool as some others might be. The BB was always my favorite. It was my usual car to race on my old Aurora slot track. (also, I like the Green Hornet and Kato as a character team better than Batman & Robin)
The Green Hornet TV show ran in 1966-1967. I wish the original TV Black Beauty could be recreated. This 2011 Movie Black Beauty isn’t any thing like the original.
As a kid in the 70's George Barris kept the Batmobile and Munster cars in his shop storefront on Riverside Drive for years, a friend of mine would kick it at his shop sometimes.
How about an expose' on Clouseau's "Silver Hornet"? What a piece of work that thing was _!!!_
There's a replica of the Batmobile here in Florida, that I see once a month on beachside. 🇺🇸
