@@AllUntold Political correctness wasn't invented in the last 2 years or so. Not trying to give a history lesson here, but it goes back to the early days of civil rights and women's suffrage (ability to vote). Women having more equal rights, people of darker skin tones being given full equality were all "politically correct" for it's time in 1925 or 1965. PC was we know it today, the modern form of it, began in the late 1980s, so by 1997 when this movie came out, it was in FULL SWING.

The movie is not "ahead of it's time", PC was in full throttle from the late 80s to present day. Social media might make it more in your face now, but it was around back then too. The only marginalized group that was significantly ignored in the 90s was probably the LGBTQ group, but racial minorities and women were given significantly more attention to how they were addressed then say compared to 1967 or 1977. By the late 80s, 90s, for instance, there were nor more "stewardess" on airlines, but "flight attendants".

Screenwriters were challenged to: A: Put in the most amount of cheesy and stupid one liners in one movie like never done before. B: Make batman look like a pompous fool C: Make a female villain that could not thrive without sexual innuendos D: Make a school girl (That have always lived in London but has an American accent) to all of a sudden be a Bruce Lee martial arts expert without any training. E: Make Alfred be able to make a heap of vehicles and a batgirl costume even while being sick and eventually bedridden. F: Make the audience hate George Clooney even more than they did to start off with. G: Make Robin llok like a immature school kid throwing constant tantrums. H: The list can go on and on and on. I'd say they succeeded on all points. "For today the DC Universe wept for the brutal killing of characters by Hollywood" • Thankfully this would be the last of these kind of movies in the series. Back to the darkness they went.

He actually could be a good quality Batman, almost like Keaton's. He had the seriousness and wits of Batman, but was placed in the wrong kind of story (and had a small fatal mistake on the costumes). Bale wasn't even a good Batman, but his story was written well. If only Clooney had a better written story... Oh well 🤷‍♂️

No it's called difference of opinion and it is a good movie to me and I know she's the bad guy but Poison Ivy is awesome.

Classic '90s. You can tell they were going for the family as an audience. Born in the '80s I enjoy this more for what it was..a stepping stone to bigger and greater movies.

This movie is getting a 4k blu ray release in the summer. I kid you not...

Goddamn, even the trailer for this movie is atrocious....

You know, I think this cast is actually pretty good. It's the writing that really sucks.

"Batman & Robin" isn't the worst superhero movie of all time. No, that spot is exclusively reserved for "Catwoman". This Batman film was corny and cheesy but at the same time, it is possible to enjoy it if you were a fan of the 1940 "Batman & Robin" serial that was shown to the public over 6 decades ago. When it comes to the 1980's and the 1990's, The first Batman film that had Michael Keaton as the caped crusader will always be the best one in terms of storytelling and its' connection to the Batman comics. I just felt like pointing out that there are worse superhero films out there.

The worst movie that I've ever heard of are those 3 Fred The Movie films. I've never watched them myself and I have no desire to do so. I have seen some funny reviews of those movies though. I consider Catwoman to be worse than Superman 4. Superman didn't dress up in a Halloween costume, hiss, or play with a cat toy in Superman 4.

@@blinkenschnaag777 I know, right? I was so hyped back in the day when they revealed that Arnold himself would play Mr. Freeze and flirting with Poison Ivy. I watched in the cinema on release, never understood why somebody would hate the movie.

He is back

I thought this movie was great. George Clooney made a great Batman, I mean it's the man, the myth, the legend, George Clooney.

So we can still get an Alicia Silverstone Batgirl movie now.

I thought the same thing years ago. Perfect Wayne, terrible Batman

No matter the hate this movie gets I can still watch it and appreciate it for the elaborate sets, costumes, production value, cultural references etc.... Really was/is a living comic book. Films today do go all out like any of the 90's Batman films anymore, just green screen everything.....

I remember watching this on vhs when I was 4 thinking it was awesome. I’m 17 now and still get a lil bit of nostalgia

I liked Chris O’Donnell as Robin. He looks like the modern Robin from the Batman Arkham video game series.

I remember going to watch this back in the day, I was like 5 and loved it. Rewatched it years later and now I realize that my childhood was filled with darkness

i watched this movie a million times as a kid. I was mad dumb.

I was very young too when this came out, and I would looooooooooooooooove it and watch it many times (I would always be batgirl in me and my cousin's plays x'D). But yeah, its a good movie for kids, nothing else haha

@@kora4185 as a child, it took me awhile to figure out the dinner scene. Batman has a girlfriend? He's daydreaming about Ivy? Pheremones? Oh (I said on my 3rd rewatch).

Batman and Robin looks so wonderful pair with Batwoman. This movie damnly deserves a sequel.

It still cracks me up that Clooney didn't even try to disguise his voice 😂😂😂😂😂

RIP Joel. Thank you.

"This is why superman works alone" Makes me laugh every time.

90s trailers were the best.... I miss childhood. I’m gonna go watch Casper.

This film is like the 60s Batman show, but with 10 times the budget and none of the self awareness

It's not my favorite Batman film but it's still a fun watch. I love the camp and the ice puns. If you're in the mood to laugh and have a good time, this movie is perfect for that.

Excellent comeback for Clooney in the Flash.

So in the Clooney Universe, Superman exists. He mentioned it to Robin. That means, that Superman must be older than the one in Batfleck's universe. I know this movie was just for fun. It's a goofy one for a Batman movie. Obviously like an extended advertisement for toys.
