ding ding ding. Even in jr high I knew this. I felt remorse for Selina bc she was damaged through no fault of her own. And yes even Oswald who was raised to be and act like an animal. But Shreck and his son deliberately chose to be evil.

I don't know what it is...but there's something so eerily enchanting and alluring about 90's era Walken, he's just so hypnotic in roles like this, he always has this vampiric aura that frightens you and entrances you at the same time.

@@nicholc7300 The one positive thing I will say about Chip, and like I say, it's the *one* positive thing, is that he did stick up for his dad when the Red Triangle Circus Gang threatened Max. For that at least, I have to say that Chip wasn't all bad, and he did show at least some courage.

Max sChreck was the guy who played the vampire Count Orlok in Nosferatu. A german silent film from 1922 and pretty much the first (and best) vampire film ever. Tim Burton is a big fan of german expresionism so he named Walken's role after Max

100% agreed! I wish she survived. She would have fit into the Schumacher Universe well, because she's beautiful, campy, silly and fun, just like the Gotham of Schumacher's movies. I think she would have lived, had this been a Schumacher movie.

It's because he's probably an atheist who wants to attack Christianity, every chance he can get. Michael Keaton is a big liberal now too, so I'm guessing all the stars that wanted to be in the movie had to share Burton's political views.

@@STEJTHEGREATEST What are you talking about?!? Are you stupid or something? Andrew Bryniarski, who plays Chip in the film, is a big Trump supporter, and believes in the whole 'Pizzagate' nonsense. And Keaton and DeVito besides, I don't think the other actors in this film are particularly liberal. Walken mostly stays out of politics, Pfeiffer is a liberal but tends to keep her politics to herself, and the beautiful Ms Conaway celebrates Christmas along with her registered Republican husband, Mark Murphy. I suspect she is a Christian. She was certainly raised as one. Also, Jerry Hall, who was in the first Burton Batman film, is married to Rupert Murdoch, one of the most right-wing men in the world.

Burton identifies with the outsiders. I like Christmas, but for those of us who aren't a Shreck or an Ice Princess, Christmas can sometimes feel like an alienating and exclusive time, especially if you're not a Christian or you're not wealthy or you don't come from a particularly happy and stable family.

As much as I love the gothic aesthetic this film gives off, the special effects are pretty outdated. You can blatantly tell by the lighting that the film was shot on a soundstage inside a studio, and for the record, there’s only 40-50 crowd people in the tree lighting scene. I’m pretty sure Gotham City has more than 50 people living there.

Well back then they couldn't really CGI a crowd of people in there and this movie did not have a 200 million dollar budget so yeah they did the best with what they had .
