I was burned on over 40% of my body in 1985. After an extensive skin graft surgery, the nurses gave me several beach baths (during which they searched and removed staples from my new grafted areas 😖) to combat infections. I was only 6 years old at the time but thought it was interesting. 👍🏾

soli Sanchez - I wondered the same thing myself… Especially when I started dating... until I realized that the burns caused people to either judge me and feel sorry for me or be curious to get to know me, my heart. I ended up attracting some of the most beautiful (inside and out) people to me. God works all things together for our good. I am truly living that out in my life.

Nice to learn about a bleach bath! The title sure got my attention too! Thanks Dr. Dray .
Thank You for this video! I heard about bleach baths for eczema some time ago and was so shocked! But now thanks to You I understand how it works :)
My parents used to bath us & themselves like this all the time growing up. We never measured it out, just poured it in. My mom would even sometimes mix bleach & pinesol. Also, we never rinsed it off. When I saw the thumbnail I thought you were gonna say it was a bad thing. We didn't have any skin ailments growing up. My dad was just a germophobe, and did it for that purpose.
So relieved that this is something that you recommend! I’m a community pharmacist and I recommend bleach baths to my patients - especially for eczema. People are frequently surprised how well this technique works 😁
My oldest daughter had severe eczema when she was younger and her dermatologist recommended bathing in bleach and it did help her tremendously! I honestly forgot about it until seeing your video. It’s such a small amount there is no need to be scared. It truly can help for these skin conditions ❤️

This video saved me. Every spring I get a rash on my arms for about a month and a half after going into the sun after winter. This time the rash stayed and nothing I did was helping. I was making an appointment with the dermatologist but I saw this video and took a bleach bath on Sunday. It's Friday now and the rash is completely gone. The skin still needs to heal and I will have lighter splotches of skin until it evens out but the irritation and redness are gone and the bumpiness is going away. All it took was one 8 minute bleach bath.
I have always gotten little red bumps under my butt on the back of my legs. I have thought they are from heat and sweat. I am going to try this!
I love this for general cleanliness now and again. I rush a shower midweek dashing to work and doing this makes me feel super clean and I love the smell
OMG I REALLY NEED THIS. YOU’RE A LIFE SAVER! THANK YOU. I LOVE YOU.
Hi Dr. Dray, I love your videos! Would you consider doing a video on protein overload of the hair? I've heard stylists talk endlessly about how using too many products with protein can make the hair damaged and limp, but I am having a hard time finding scientific sources on this! I have bleach-damaged hair and (aside from no longer bleaching), I've been using products with keratin in it---I'm hoping I'm not doing something to make the state of my hair worse.
Would love to see you do those videos where you review skincare routines, and illuminate us on what could be beneficial and what could be problematic... ❤️❤️❤️Dr. Dray❤️❤️❤️

This is great advice! Dr. Dray, I know this works for people with periodontal disease. Just a capful of basic bleach with no additives to a waterpik reservoir fillled with water kills harmful bacteria on the gums. I use the pocket tool which squirts the water into the gum line. Use on lowest setting when starting. I suffer from excema, and will be using your method for my hands. Sending love to you and MOM. Wish her a Happy Mother’s Day!
Not sure what you are doing differently but your skin is super glowing! Pretty!

Thank you so much you helped me tremendously. I love the idea of doing the bleach compress.
I've been doing this during my pedicures once a week or every two weeks. It's good, because I just throw in my nail tools in the bleach water and they get disinfected too. My feet are normally dry and do not smell, but those who suffer from foot odor would benefit greatly from soaking their feet in bleach water. Make sure you apply vaseline or better yet kerasal afterwards and put on some cotton socks.

My granddaughter had a mild to moderate case of eczema when she was a baby, the doctor prescribed hydrocortisone creams for her and although they are effective I didn’t want to constantly use that. Thank you for this. :) Good to know if I would ever need to treat a condition like that. Hydrocortisone has been good on my atopic excema, and I was recently diagnosed with St. Anthony's fire, but that needed strong antibiotics in order to not become a blood poisoning. And I'm glad we still have antibiotics that work. The overuse is a huge issue that frightens me, as in this case my life might depend on the antibiotics working.
I JUST literally finished a bleach bath and now I'm researching whether or not it was safe! I have eczema and mild acne on my back. I'm glad I found your video. My dermatologist recommended in years ago, but I forgotten the guidelines for them. Thank you for sharing!

As a dental hygienist this is not at all shocking to me. In fact, early on during my education and career, I learned to recommend a diluted bleach water mouthwash (sodium hypochlorite) to my patients with aggressive types of periodontal disease. There is a lot of research out there about it eliminating those aggressive periodontal pathogens. So it makes sense for the skin too.
Useful information! Thank you Dr.Drey you da best!

Hi Dr Dray! You should make a video on your journey in becoming a dermatologist!
I have HS and I use a hibicleanse as my Dr. And NP told me to do and I've done the antibiotics and the topical creams which help especially during bad flare ups. But my routine is cleansing using liquid Pure Castile soap with no fragrance, Hibicleanse, drinking apple cider vinegar mixed with water or tea, and ZAPZYT from Walmart which literally clears up a boil in two days and it's only $5! I've suffered a long time and this is what truly helped me. I've had maybe 3 intense flare ups this year

How much ACV do you mix with your water? And how does zapzyt help?
Using household bleach to bathe in or to do a foot soak is something our family has done for years. It definitely helps undermine various skin eruptions and fungi, eliminate odor as well as making you private areas especially clean and fresh. As mentioned you must rinse and moisturize thoroughly afterward .

I've been thinking about exactly this! I was once told that a bleach bath could reset your skin microbiome if you're concerned about potentially dangerous colonies on your skin that could cause cellulitis or other problems. But it seems risky in and of itself. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! One question: What are your tips to prevent these infections for cellulitis around the face and head (eye, ear, etc)? Is normal cleansing and moisturizing sufficient even if you have colonies of staph?
