I have 8'6 standing reach and most of my blocks I get without jumping. Block at time of release and ball don't gets off more than a few inches. Bill Russell no jump block. But Bill Russell is a top blocker all time.

Javale McGee is very skilled, no doubt about it.

it depends on how strong they go up and finish if they go weak its a block if they go strong on contact either foul are and 1

That's great!

I always contest but don't jump because you're never supposed to leave your feet- but then how do you know if they're pumping you or not before it's too late? Otherwise you'll just look foolish getting pumped. I never know when to just contest or actually jump. I mean obviously you should just when they're in the air, but you have to think quicker than that. Any tips?

Well, you don't have to be 7 ft tall to block shots you just have to be athletic and use your iq props to javale for this useful tips :)

Even if you're 5 feet tall you still have many chances to block any shot, its not just the block from behind or a full block, you can still block even a slight touch on the ball because the shot eventually curves or hangs in the air and you can get the rebound. And there's a tip too You can just put pressure on the shooter's shot so that he will be rattled a bit and you can contest the shot.

For that last bit, I remember seeing a strategy where the guy was jumping as if to block from SUPER far away, and just straight in the air. The shooter was going for a three, but it still rattled him. The success rate when he blocked like that for the shooter actually hitting the 3 went down a lot.

Don't be racist dude, he can dunk if he want's but he just needs to put the work in to increase his vertical. Jeremy Lin is a great example.

You definitely can dunk,you just have to put in that work. I'm 5'3 and I can just about touch the rim on a 10 foot goal,you just have to keep working at it

Step 2 : be as athletic and reactive than Javale McGee. Even for small guys it's hard.

I would rather see a short guy like gary peyton teach this. Most tall guys don't really have good blocking skills...they're just tall so they have an instant advantage. A short guy that can get blocks is really good
