There are actually two knocks on Basil Hayden, first the low proof and second the high price. It's not bad, it's just not worth the $45.45 that even the regular Basil Hayden cost me. I wouldn't blame anyone for tying a bottle but spending the money on that second one? I haven't tried any of their cask finish or ryes. 🥃Cheers!
Basil Hayden tends to be the most wish-washy bourbon I could think of.

I don't know, Basil Hayden for me was a base whisky pretending to be a high end Bourbon, may be It was just me, or may be Ibjust need to have a "thirdary" sip. Will give It another chance with this one. Nice video as always, thanks Scott, thanks "thirdary" Bart!

I would agree with you. I haven't had the subtle smoke, but I have had regular old Basil Hayden's and it's practically flavorless. These guys are nuts. Their ratings mean nothing at this point when they never drop below 80 regardless of what they're reviewing.

I really, really like Scots comments when he goes--blah blah blah, same ole, same ole❤🤣🤣-- and, I agree with Bart's disdain 4 40% drams however, if it tastes good-- drink it! The first btl. I had , it was a quite tasty Bourbon

I can't take your ratings seriously at this point if you're going to give Basil Hayden's an 88.

Ha! Who takes our ratings seriously. We always say taste is subjective. If your tastes are in line with Bart or Scott or opposite you may find value. Otherwise those numbers are worth the paper they were written on.
Basil Hayden makes a good hot toddy but Makers Mark is still better.
