Basic Vocal Treatment (Part 1) // SSL Native X-EQ 2 & Maag EQ2
Музыка
If you have nowhere to start once you import your vocals, try these first steps out. These two simple ideas sets the pace and decision making for the rest of your mix. Did I say 2 simple things?
Tip
Clean up any resonant frequencies you don't want early on in your vocal chain. The more you compress and build effects off frequencies you don't want the worst they become. They're kind of like weeds. Get rid of them early, and for good.
*Apologies about the doubling at the end of the video. Making this video was a headache.

That’s what’s up man! Working for Epic must be fun!
Actually, the Maag is a very clean eq, no harmonics or noise added , it`s just the curves that give it`s sound :) . If you want saturation on different frequencies, you can use fabfilter saturn.

Good stuff. I've been watching a few of your videos tonight, working with SSL Native plugins, but also with a focus on vocal EQ. I genuinely appreciate your approach to the process by clearly going-after the 1k and building around it. Something that still keeps ringing in the back of my head is where to draw the line on processing the tracks for a print, before mixdown. Sometimes I get carried-away on the sound design and then figure where the wow-factor is, and build the mix from there. But this is good stuff to measure and remind where the BEST ranges are for clear vocals to be designed and "pocketed" into the mix. Thanks for the videos! You do great work!!
