Maag EQ2 When Mixing Vocals

The Mäag EQs are a brand of units that have a staple in mixing engineers hearts, including mine. I use these units for a ton of things when it comes to boosting and sometimes radically altering the sound of sounds for a more saturated color. In the video, I'm using the plugin as it relates to vocals but don't limit its powers to that. Use it for drums, background vocals, synths, anything that needs a special touch.
Tip
Don't be scared to crank the bands. These curves boost frequencies unlike anything you've used. Just be sure to scale back the input on the EQ2 with a gain plugin or something similar if you don't like distortion!

What you said about high frequencies giving a sense of something being close was really interesting. Never thought of it like that before although now it seems very obvious. Learning something new everyday

After this video i want to go home and mix something... Immediately :) Im actually usuing the maag quite rarely even though I like the sound of it. Now im wondering why 🤔

Cause it’s really gooooood. I actually haven’t found anything close to what the Maag does in the high frequencies.
that Maag EQ would be even better if it had an output gain.

I eventually discovered it does! Check the brown screw to the bottom right. Many PA plugins are like this Millinea for example)

@@MellowXBrew double checked. The output is on the MAAG 4 only. Surprised why they felt they didn't need to include it on the 2

@@stupidusername38 the Maag 2 has an input knob to adjust for change before hitting the EQ. This helps to control the level of the signs hitting the ceiling/headroom of the device since it can cause large gain boost. The Maag EQ4 only has an output knob so you can overdrive a band to distortion then decrease the level.
