I have trained many forms of marshal arts love the simple way aikido it works without much thinking and turns the strength of the attackers against themselves and is so fast no defense to untrained persons, I have been told by people next to me they never seen me move but did see the attacker hit the floor so hard they were not able to fight after my defense moves !...

I first got into Aikido when I left the army after 14 years of service both active and reserves in 1994. I just turned 65 and my infantry physical stresses have caught up to me. I use a cane and I’m no longer as strong or flexible as I was. I can’t run. It’s hard to WALK more than 100 meters at a time. This stuff is great. I’d like to see some videos in use of a cane. My cane doesn’t feature a “shepherds hook” grip. It’s a slightly smaller than hand size knob and it’s solid oak from the company “Cold Steel.”

You picked the right Martial art... have you ever seen an aikido practitioner winning a fight using aikido.. especially aikido in the uk and Europe they don't need2 fight to earn their belts they dont do randori which is sparring so you think yes this will work but you never no untill you have another guy trying 100% to stop you from using your technique that's why wrestling sambo judo boxing thai boxing... they are the guys that have been pressure testing there techniques since they started training you can hit the bag no how to throw a proper punch but when another skilled man is punching you back that's when you learn what works... that's why in mma all the champions had a wrestling base I done thai boxing since I was a kid had fights as a teenager faught I could fight so did everyone else I went to a mma gym got a few punches of went to kick in a split second I was on my back getting tapped out i tried again the same thing happened but quicker... i then got talking to the guy i was sparring with he was a judo blackbelt and a bluebelt in Bjj he made me feel like a child after that i joined a judo club started competing and doing grading fighting other guys to get your belt... I relised all they years i was known as a good fighter someone not to mess with had been training since i was a kid faught in the ring ... i didn't have a clue and while i was walking a out thinking i could handle myself there was guys that could bounce me of the ground in seconds get ontop of me and destroy me if they wanted... if i turned up to the mma gym with just aikido it would have been even worse there are blue belts out there now that would put these guys on there back in seconds.. even if your connor McGregor which these guys arnt and you fight a guy like khabib your going to get put on your back and smashed no1 ever beat him .. before him there was fedor in pride when he was fighting in Japan no1 could beat him.. and theres jon Jones who was a wrestler and has still never lost a fight and has been champion since he was 22

The first thing do not appear to be any ones target, be aware and know where you and everyone else is around you, know what you can use to defend your selves if you might need a weapon against another weapon, alert person is not any target they want to go against, if you feeling uncomfortable leave the area, if you are not able to leave any offensive move made toward you take out fast and as hard as you can; don't worry about after the fight for your life or another's life; the attackers have asked to be taken out with the most force you have to give to them, they care not about you so you do not have to care about them and or their life !...

The ole drop the wallet trick.. Jeff Speakman in The perfect Weapon. For the passive, hey i don't want any trouble stance, i like holding my hands in front palms up. It looks like you're pleading for mercy, it helps hide you legs a bit because your hand are very visible, as you hold your hand in front of you you end up real close for a possible throat chop, eye poke, and disarm. Follow the throw and drop a knee into the body of the opponent which probably causes the head to raise up follow the knee with a punch to the face.

We tent to turn on our spine, there fore you want to turn away from the knife, not into it. A knife is felt on the left side of your back, you turn towards your right side, this allows the knife to past your left side. If you instead turn to the left, you are actually directing the knife towards the spine which wouldn't take the knife offline. pivot away from the point of the knife, not into it.

Great video and very funny (whenever I hear "stab you up" just slays me lol). I have so many questions and as this is the first time seeing one of your vids I assume you get asked these all the time. Aside from skills what about height, weight and reach differences? How does that impact the ability to fend off someone? I am a woman and only 150cm tall, what else can be attacked in defence if I am unable to reach the throat with my elbow? Most people are taller and stronger than me, especially men, and I am unable to run well due to Achilles tendon damage. Could you do a vid (if you haven't already) on lower body attack spots like knees sternum and bollocks lol. Also, does aikido have any way to escape locks and grapple holds? Sorry these questions raged out of control but so interested. 😃🤘😊

Haha, more like hapkido or tkd, but I , like you , do not limit my martial art , always use what is needed for victory, love wrist out turn, practiced that with students last night! On uneven clothesline I would probably do a ridgehand strike since I hit the bag a lot with it,then back off as you say, but don’t go down on him and beat him more or wrestle you give the thug opportunity and at that point this altercation could come to an end. he needs am escape exit or the incident turns into a ongoing fight he might pull a weapon. Oh, and on a side note, I appreciate your attitude toward “Uncle Steve”, seems like a lot of people bad mouthing him unfairly like mob mentality .

As he got up he copped an osotogari and I kept hold of his right arm against my knee and dislocated his shoulder. I then dropped my other knee onto his face and broke his jaw. @@Aikidoflow professional youtubers with nice camera equipment and a fully compliant training partner, yes, but that's all try actually pressure testing your ideas some time with full contact to simulate real world attacks you will find that how you perform looks nothing like this at all you can make anything look good when your training partner is acting like you are some kind of action hero (great for the ego though right?) instead of offering resistance and trying to attack you back... which is what happens if you are the target of a violent crime
