hallo General Confusion, i've been enjoying your Dominions 5 content very much. is there any chance we could see an Asphodel analysis soon?

After looking at the Hellenica nations from the mod Lucid was playing those guys seem rather tame. That said, seems like a cool nation. Gl in your game with them GC!

Oh yeah, definitely. The power level of the Hellenika nations is well above vanilla; Haerdalas' mods tend to aim to blend in with vanilla nations pretty well.

@@GeneralConfusionPlays Then again Hellenika isn't trying to be balanced around vanilla. It has it's own balance, it's pretty much it's own game within the dom5 engine. I like it.

Oh and on a completely different note. Wow. They expanding the Jomon god selection. At last.

I can see where you're coming from on your view point with mods, personally i love them, we have a lot of very creative mod makers and it's always the mods that keep me coming back to dom5 because of how easy it is to mod and how much you can do with it. Same reason i still play skyrim, they just add a lot of replay value to a game with already high replay value.

A thing i think was neglected in the analysis of the high senou priest, is that while they can cast Power of the Spheres, then its rarely worth the bother on a Astral 1 mage, due to the high fatique cost of the spell.

I think it depends on what you're trying to cast. Using PoTS to set yourself to cast Life After Death or Rigor Mortis (if your mage has Twiceborned into a Wight Mage or something) or Plague could well be worthwhile even though it costs so much fatigue.

@@GeneralConfusionPlays Thats of course a relevant point. When you dont mind risking fatique damage or falling asleep for the rest of the battle, is one of the exceptions. Another tiny detail you glosses over in the pretender analysis, is that the Celestrial Dragon has both air and astral magic, it just takes a magic penalty in dragon form.

What is your opinion on NatGen?

@@iioxXxoii they made katana some sort of super-sword, best in the class. While IRL it was pretty poor quality sword, inferior to both European and Asian swords. Also samurai armor in reality offers little protection vs spears and especially swords, again inferior to Eurasian armor. But in over hand - their armor was pretty good vs arrows (but not like in this mod where they can block giant stones and javelins, lol). Also japanese know and use crossbows, not so often as bows, but still. They really love firearms btw so in game it can be replaced with crossbows.
