Basic Math: Lesson 2 - Equalities & Inequalities
This lesson consists of providing you with a Self-Tutorial on the basics of equalities and inequalities. I go over how to write results in interval notation, inequality notation, and set (set-builder) notation. I also explain in the printed notes how to use your graphing calculator to help you make comparisons between numbers.

Thank you professor; God bless you. I had this old problem with maths; like many others but yet not many also who can believe here is a lifetime opportunity to beat the problem. Your videos are from the Heavens.
I did horribly in math going through school, never got it. As an adult the concepts sink in much easier, thank you for your time making these videos, wish KZread was around when I was in school
I'm not a professor, just a math tutor. I am glad I am able to help!
Just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your hard work for putting these together. I wish you could have been my teacher in school (back in the day)..:)
Glad to know I was useful! More will be covered in my upcoming Lesson: "Algebra: Solving Linear Inequalities."
Thank you so much for sharing this very pedagogical and great video. I'm looking forward to following your other videos as well . :)
My math teacher lets us watch your videos for homework. Nice Job
i want to have more and more lessons like this teacher
Thank you so much...you have made it clear and simple!
thank you so much, believe it or not i only made it to 5 th grade. i did get my g.e.d. but basically i just cramed it. so now i am taking graphic design and of course we need to do math. let me just say you really break it down for me. this is really helpful. thank you very much. my kids even like this video!!! thank you.
Yes, I plan to make videos on Quadratics. They are not done yet.
I am re-taking my algebra test. Your videos have helped me prepare so much. Your awesome!
You are the best teacherrrrrr
I recommend watching my "Tips for Students" playlist of videos for some help, then watch more of my Basic Math videos.
Thank you sir for putting up the time and share your knowledge.
@bigmac21662 Not sure what you are asking. The only thing I can think of based on info provided is to "switch" the inequality around to 43 > x. I recommend you watch the lesson: "Algebra: Solving Linear Inequalities." By the way, there is no need to send the same comment 3 times. Comments don't appear until I approve them.
Thank you for putting making these videos! Absolutely brilliant!
Gods yess thank you for this lecture, I managed to answer the last example of this video before it ended and I got it right xD thank you so muchhhh
I don't know what you mean by DR/R. Did you watch the FULL lessons? The free versions are only a small portion. The paid versions cover quite a bit of material on how to do linear equations and inequalities. If all else fails, you can also get webcam tutoring from me (but I do charge for this). Visit my videomathtutor[.]com website for details.
Awesome! this helped me tremendously.. thank you
@jimmytwoshoes2009 Sorry about that. Older videos were filmed in mono, not stereo. New videos will be in stereo.
This is so awesome. you make it so clear and easy to learn. thank you.
one of my "techniques" of learning, is while sleeping, and my brain sucks all that information while asleep. this is awesome!
@paddy110287 Note are in area called "Printshop" in my E-Store on my website.
@lionsome Thanks! I hope to be a better tutor as time goes by. I should have new videos out in September.
keep them coming please. you are helping me prepare for college Algebra
Thank You sooooo Much!!! I finally understoood interval notation...Thank YOU!!!
@8cookies2 Open dot does NOT include the actual value, the closed dot includes the point. I go over this in more detail in my Algebra lesson: "Solving Linear Inequalities.
After watching u,i dont know how easier maths can get.lol.thk you.
@UBABYGORILLA Video is in mono, not stereo. Sorry about that. You need to adjust your audio output. I have corrected this for future videos.
I am 18 years old, I studied the math in arabic in Tawjihi (the high-school test in most of middle eastern areas, and they taught us your way and the way i just wrote. its almost the same.
I think voice portion is in mono, not stereo. That may be the reason you don't hear anything (depends on your PCs settings, I guess). I can hear video just fine.
I am glad! I hope more teachers do this.
i am 27 now did my bachelors in microbiology and optes for sales career, never understood maths, i wished someone like could have helped me, however i started relearning maths and lets see hiw things,go...thank u sir.
thank you very much...awesome teaching
To avoid confusing the inequality symbols, I think of the symbol as an arrow and it always points to the lesser number. e.g. 2 6 > 4...the arrow is pointing to 4, which is the lesser number.
Yes, but not for awhile. I think that will be covered in "How to REALLY use the TI-84 Graphing Calculator - Part 3." It will be covered in a future algebra lesson too, but I don't know which one yet.
Click the "Free Videos" tab, then go to page with the lesson you want (like Basic Math, Lesson 2). There is an Acrobat Reader icon that you can click to view PDF file on the sidebar, plus a second link just under the videos description. If you still have problems, please email me (don't use KZread), and I can just send you the files.
Yes. I go through this in more detail in the lesson: "Algebra: Solving Linear Inequalities."
Video was recorded in mono, not stereo. New videos will be in stereo. Sorry for this. You need to adjust your audio output.
That's a clear explanation, ThankYou! :D
Yep, You are correct.
@tremelower I am creating a multi-disc DVD set for GED math where I will give a very good answer to this question. In the mean time, I recommend you buy at least 1 test prep book to guide you. Watching my Basic Math videos here is a good start.
cant thank you enough, nice work.
@Rising421 Math notes are in 2 areas of my VideoMathTutor website. Just go where the video is, and there is a link, OR visit the "PDF Printshop" under the "e-store" link.
Sir, you should be on the Mathematician Hall of Fame, if there is one.
great work thanks for your help i have regent to take june 18th your lesson helped me alot but please go to more details
this was really helpful
@calvin02514 Video was recorded in mono, not stereo. New videos will be in stereo. Sorry for this. You need to adjust your audio output.
THANKS..MR..that video helpmore in my school smp 1 Bumiayu Indonesia.
I do not know what math is required for your degree, so I cannot give you any suggestions. You may want to talk to a school counselor. Watching all my "Basic Math" videos will definitely help almost any students wanting to do well in algebra. You may want to start with those first.
@grafearthainn Note sure where you are looking, but notes are clearly shown on my videomathtutor site in several places. Look where video is, or the PDF printshop.
More lessons are on the way. (I'm a tutor, not a teacher)
Very Good Thanks!!
@DeaDaveP I am glad I was able to help! More videos soon!
your video helped me under stand what i need to do but i still need more understanding about equations and inqualities cause i have an exam i have to do now and im haven little trouble with DR / R no numbers it in so how do i find the answer to this please help me thank you
This helps more than school
@dafervent1 No, I have no current plans to do videos in Spherical Trig, Celestial and Nautical Navigation. Sorry.
i looked on your site and around on here but i can't find these so called notes you talk about :/
very nice lesson
Hello Anthony, I commend you for helping in this critical area of study. I'm a prospective student of Texas A&M, I want to graduate to Algebra, Trig and ultimately Calculus. I'll be studying in the Maritime field, heavily based in Spherical Trig, Celestial and Nautical Navigation. Question; does your instruction go that far and should I worry if the extent of my math exposure is only to the pre-algebra level?
where can we get the notes from?
I cover how to solve linear equations in my video lesson: "Algebra: Solving Linear Equations - Part 1." Webcam tutoring is $25USD/hour. More information on that can be found at my videomathtutor[.]com website.
@coterieternal Notes are at my videomathtutor website. Click the "PDF Printshop" link.
That DR/R was in my book but i do have a problem that my math book is not showing me how to get the answer. I have to find the equation in 80=3y+2y+4+1 maybe i'm not understanding what my math book is saying on how to do the problem. If i could I would pay you to help me but cant pay right now but how much do you charge anyway
I much understand math now than when I was in my elementary and high school years.. Thanks for this,, :)
i can hear ur voice very well and thanks a lot!!

@SuperFivecents Notes are at my videomathtutor website. Look for the "PDF Printshop" link.
I cannot place notes here on KZread. For that, you need to go to my website and then to the page where this video appears. if you still need help, just send me an email.
@shanemkelley On the homepage of my videomathtutor website, there is a link to "PDF Printshop" at the top of the page. Click that, then look for the "Basic Math and Algebra Notes from Videos" link.
Do u do Quadratics?
Sorry about that. I will fix later today.
@djdonkey17 Glad to know!

Happy to help! Please tell others about my videos.
my grade teacher explained as the bigger one is powerful and hence attacks the smaller one with an arrow....
I can't understand why you kids give this guy negative feedback...? He more than gives his time to help you, there is nothing here to give negative feedback on.... Thanks for sharing Math tutor!!! I am so happy you give up your free time to help us and free most times. I love the rental videos
where are the notes??
@asngurl2525 Visit my Video Math Tutor website and click the "PDF Printshop." All notes are there.
Where are the notes?
Hi Sir, Love your session. Can you please make a video on inequalities and modulus for gmat?
@VideoMathTutor
8 жыл бұрын
I don't have a modulus lesson yet, but hope to do one in the future. I do have a lesson on solving linear inequalities here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f61os5p_dcLemdo.html (lesson is not specifically for GMAT)
Sure. That works too. When I learned this, Pacman did not exist (yeah, I am old). An alligator can also be used.
Thanks , my teacher will freak if I get another F!
{X| This dude is a genius} LOL
