What a wonderful tutorial! You showed everything I wanted to see, thank you. And the simple cardigan is delightful! I’m a 40 year knitting veteran and now I think I’ll try a crocheted cardy!

Lovely! Enjoy crocheting for change!
This is how I made my first cardigan and I've often thought that people should have had access to a tutorial. I'm glad you made one😊 I hope viewers can see how easy it is! After the first one I moved on to shaping armholes, playing with stitch patterns and making the a-line shape. I assure everyone that this isn't hard. Following a pattern is actually harder. I'm enjoying watching how you made the tutorial and hope that people will appreciate it so that you can teach the next level of crochet garment construction 😊

Thank you so much, really glad that you like this type of tutorial and work the same way yourself! 😊
Thank you so much for this type of tutorial! I always make my tops and sweaters with very similar stitches and avoid unfamiliar patterns because I could never figure out how to customize to fit my body or another specific person without a written pattern. This was a great help 🌹

Thank you, so glad to hear! 💗
Excellent tutorial Tuula. Thank you for very clear instructions on neck shaping and sleeve caps, and your tip to increase in the second stitch. I always learn something new from you. ❤

Great, thank you! 😊
No problem. I’m working on a sweater by combining 2 patterns, measuring as I go. And a totally different stitch from either one. I’m good! ❤❤❤ Enjoy the weather.

Wonderful!
My first cardigan was poorly fitted and I made a mess of it. I have several more years of experience and this has made me brave enough to try this method. Thank you!

That's great, trust you will enjoy making one this way!
I've crocheted a few cardigans and tops but sometimes the back of my cardigan hikes up. I've added extra rows to the back panel but I think there should be another solution that I need to learn. Your techniques are so wonderful. I've learned alot from this video!

I've had the same problem. Usually, the back panel gets pulled up further on the shoulders. I've solved the problem by crocheting separate shoulder wedges that I sew the panels onto. Also, crocheting a rounded addition to the bottom edge of the back panel looks very nice on some models. If you add width to the lower part of the back it will also make it come down a bit more.

Thank you! One problem that can make the back hike up is that the cardigan is too tight around the shoulders. So it would need extra in the width, not length. But varies a lot, hard to say without seeing!

Good you have found solutions. Yes, mostly the problem would be not enough width around the top back and shoulders.
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I have struggled so much with patterns. Thank-you once again

What a wonderful video.❤ I learned so much! I've looked at patterns on Ravelry but didn't know so much other info about yarns was on that site. In my experience I've found only one pattern with a rounded sleeve top. I've found the rounded sleeves fit better and look much nicer than sleeves with a flat top. You're videos are the best.😊

Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the video useful! I definitely think that rounding the top of your sleeves gives a much better fit 😊 Ravelry is useful for many things. I use it a lot especially for yarns, checking with any yarn its qualities and what people have made with it.
Lovely.
Thank you!!!

Oh my… i’m excited! I have made a zillion and baby blankets, but have never attempted aw wearable. I’ve been wanting to make myself a cardigan forever, but I am afraid to so much to figure out. How do I know if a pattern understands what size I am so I’m thinking this is perfect for me. I love your explanation. Thank you so much, I’m new to your channel and will be watching regularly. Thank you.

So glad you found my channel! Hope you soon get to make a cardigan and enjoy it!
Thank you so very much for this tutorial. I am new to making wearables and have struggled to find a pattern that uses the light weight yarn that I would like to use as I don’t like the popular chunky styles. What yarn would you recommend for a spring time light weight cardigan? Again, thank you for a well thought out and detailed tutorial.

Glad you like the tutorial! 💜 I would normally always use natural fibers. One good choice for a lightweight cardigan are all the sockwools that are made for needles 2.5-3mm and can be crocheted with the same size hooks. Those of course are a lot of work with such fine yarns so you could go fo slightly thicker like sport weight and a mix of wool and cotton. Depends a lot on what types of yarns and brands you are used to using and what is available wherever you live!

Another way to achieve drape is to upsize your hook. I use a 4mm for sock/fingering weight yarn and a 4.5mm one for sport weight yarn. A third way is to use stitches that create a thinner, more elastic fabric. I use the wattle stitch a lot (sc, ch 1, dc into the same stitch, skip 2) and mix it with other stitches to create a pattern and not get bored :)
❤
I love your videos. You’re such a good teacher. ❤ How much yarn did you end up using? Just curious!!

Thank you! We bought 16 balls (50 gram balls) and ended up using 14½ of them.
Awesome tutorial 😊 i have a question, if i want to make a V-neck do i decrease on every row or every second row with dk yarn?
@TuulaMaaria
5 ай бұрын
It would be on every row, that would go too fast. You need to measure how deep you want the V to be and how many stitches will be reduced for the right width of shoulders. This will depend on the size of the cardigan.
