Basic Chinese Greetings: Hello, Thank You, and Goodbye - TalktoChinese

Learn how to say: hello, thanks, you are welcome, and bye in Chinese. These are expressions that are most commonly used on daily basis. If you never learned Chinese before, I believe you will still be able to master these four expressions in this short video. Just repeat after me and imitate :-)

I wish you were my foreign language teacher growing up. I made the mistake of not learning Mandarin, Korean or Japanese when it was offered in school. Whenever you learn a language the first thing people need to practice changing is the way we think. Understand the culture and the background of a language too. You cant bring any knowlege of the language you learned from youth into another. This was very helpful.

I will meet my girlfriends family on chinese new year (she is chinese). I have learned japanese before and know 漢字 (Kanji). This gives me a slight advance. However, chinese use them in a different way, pronounce them different and the meaning also differs sometimes. Biggest problem for me is the chinese (mandarin) pronounciation. Think I will make an ass of me when talking to her parents. Yeah...I'm pretty dead... 死💀死

Its only when you try learn other languages that you realize how sophisticated of a muscle(?) the human tongue is, lol. A big part of my job is to communicate with people who dont speak a word of English, often Chinese people. Learning basic Mandarin phrases is really helpful. But pronouncing Mandarin phrases accurately is proving to be devilishly difficult; given the completely new ways i have to contort my tongue to get the pronunciation right. Pretty fun though!
