I can relate to this. I was so dealing with this and continue to battle having messes like this in my home as well due to sickness and mental illness. It’s a family of 5 with 3 being kids and o yea not to forget hubby lol! I love watching these because it is so real and I really appreciate you for doing this and opening up your home and being so vulnerable for us viewers. Hubby and I have tackled quite a bit of clutter in our kitchen so now it’s a matter of maintenance for us. Not perfect but it’s getting there. I have a lot of problem areas but it’s been a lot better then it was in the past. I can pick up and see I picked up instead of constantly doing those hours of cleaning to get it looking like that 🌪 that blew up in the house. New subbie here! Great work keep it up!!!!

Yes I'm totally there with you. That's exactly where I'm at. All last year I decluttered every room and got rid of sooo much and this year I'm focusing on organizing our trouble spots for each room. What we have left in each room needs attention so it can be maintained. Thanks for watching and joining along! 🙌🏽😁

Omg thank you so much for posting this! ❤ my basement is a little worse, theres camping equipment, hockey equipment, its also the laundry room, and tool storage. My landlord came in, and said i HAVE to clean it right now, or i could face eviction. Ive been so stressed about it. i would freeze, and fight or flight kicks in, and i would be flighty lol but now im going to fight. The landlord is cming back, to see my progress and im stepping up. I’m only a few minutes in but already I want to thank you for showing your real life unfinished basement. Im working on a similar project and hope to share on my channel. But videos like this are keeping me motivated through it. And wow your basement is big.

I always tell myself if I haven’t touched it in 6 months to a year trash it. ❄ That's a BIG job girl, but you're doing a fabulous job! 👍🏼 Definitely giving me motivation to do my garage! 😊 its not too terrible, but I try to do it atleast once a year. We have a house rule: if it hasn't been used in the past 12 months its gotta go! This really help keep the clutter at bay.

That's a good rule. James burns the trash in summer and we try to come down once. Year too. I haven't cleaned down here much at all though and really organized what we have like this. Hopefully this helps.

I use totes. My parents have two sheds, two huge workshops. They saved my daughter's clothing & shoes to pass down to my niece. We used vacuum bags to keep the clothes from getting moldy even though they were in totes & a closed up quilting workshop. I get to declutter & organize everyone else's stuff. I love the videos, thanks for sharing.

@@MomLikely They don't have a garage. My Dad built a huge metal workshop by himself before their house was built. We don't have basements in Florida. We moved back to take care of my StepDad. It is dusty here, many of the roads they use sugar sand. I do miss having a garage & I would love a basement. We are cramped here so I want a house in the future with lots of storage space.

It gets cluttered because it's my laundry room, my husband has to keep his ginormous tool boxes in there because we don't have the garage built yet and there are tools and other things he uses in there, we stack our pellets for the pellet stove in there....crazy town!😁 Great motivation! Me too. We had a can of soda drop and spray all over by the dryer... Almost 2 months ago. I haven't cleaned it up yet 😂🤦 Ugh lol

You did an amazing job. I'm in the process of organizing my basement too. I am allotting 1 hour at least 2 days a week. If I have the energy to go longer than 1 hour I continue until I get tired. I also print out large labels for my bins so I know what's in each bin

Really!! Awesome this is one of the hardest tasks I do. We will never remodel ours. It just wouldn't be worth it. That's why I got the colors down here. Is your basement finished?

I found the energy to do a portion of my basement. Found items to donate or consigne. Feel much better. My husband even got into his "stuff "and straightened it up.

After we got our basement organized and nice I clean it weekly. I vacuum the floor and dust it. If I stay on top of it I won’t be in trouble later. We use to just constantly put stuff where it didn’t go. Now we are on top of our mess. Took a few years lol.

Wow -you worked a ton on this! Well done!! I have to admit I had a slight anxiety attack when you were stepping on clothes to do the laundry. We were there for awhile (5 people, 1 small bathroom which housed a shower, toilet and washer/dryer). Several years ago, someone shared a LIFE CHANGING suggestion. Each of us (6) have our own laundry baskets in our bedrooms. Towels stayed in their bathroom. When our basket is full, we do our own laundry. (My kids were about 8 when I taught them to do their own). I use warm/cold and put the WHOLE load in the washer and add about a 1/3 sheet of a SHOUT color catcher. (They are expensive so I've learned that I can make them go further). Yes, we do mix reds and whites. No we don't buy specialty wash items. Then we each transfer to the dryer, then fold and put away. The brilliance of this is that there is NO messy pile of dirty laundry. NO presorting by person. No sorting after the clothes are folded. So much time and energy saved. We take turns doing the towels. Best of luck in your continued organizational journey!

I give you tons of credit for doing all this by yourself!!!!

Dude, one week my garage is spotless the next week it's an utter disaster. I think it happens with that room where you just kinda toss stuff to get it out of they way.

Mom Likely! I think as I’m getting older my OCD just went into high gear LOL!! Just the the thought having the clutter sitting there and it sits on my mind just drives me insane! But yet and still I have a tv stand that I have to put together and a tv that are both sitting in boxes in the middle of my living room floor! 🤣

Great job! I need to get my spouse to do the garage, its all his stuff. 😱 I've been working on mine and the kid's stuff and bought space saving bags for seasonal and clothes we were given that don't fit yet.

🎅🏻🤶🏻I was forced to go through my ornaments when I dropped the box on the cement basement floor. Luckily only some cheap glass ornaments broke, but it forced me to empty the box out to get rid of all the broken pieces. I can’t wait to see the final results!

Moved into my new home in September at which time most things that were still in boxes was put in the basement...fast forward I am now 5 months pregnant and my basement is a ****show! Boxes have been dug through and things have been tossed and thrown around... I cringe every-time I pass the basement. Can’t wait to tackle the basement like you did.

I would LOVE to have a basement like that here in the Ozarks. There aren't alot of basements like this here because of all the mining that took place here. I'd set up a nice area to ride out tornados. TV, futon, supplies. I like your house and I'm enjoying watching the progress as you are making it your own.

Thank you! I would be scared to live in an area with such storms. I wish we could finish this basement but we have surprise water issues with the city drains every few years so we haven't wanted to Invest. Hubby hangs out down here to watch TV and workout but I don't go down there very often.

@@MomLikely oh I see! Well, I've been in tornado alley my whole life. Actually was hit directly by the joplin tornado in 2011. But you know, God pulled us thru. Tornados suck! (No pun intended 😉) but it honestly isn't any different than any other natural disaster. You learn to adapt.

@@JessiDawnShelton I'm terrified of storms. Lol I live in Michigan. We get snow and 7 months of cold weather but nothing that destroys stuff or hurts anyone usually. Partly why I don't want to move and also why I want to. 🤣 🥶 Just curious do ppl go through a lot of vehicles near to because of the storms?

@@MomLikely brrrrrrrrrr!!! I am always cold so all the snow would not be fun for me lol! I never thought about the car question. Not usually unless there of course was a direct hit or hail damage. Insurance usually covers that. But in 2011...yes...there were not alot of cars left.
