My first stay in Japan was homestay summer 1989 Kobe. Used to watch Hanshin Tigers with my family. Go Tigers FYI: food prices are USA sports/concerts are insane. Even at my University baseball (Florida Gators), water/gatorade 5/6$ Hamburger 10/15$ etc. I was at Madonna last week a big beer was $17

In festivals, events, sports, and other rides such as movie theaters, facilities, cruise ships, etc., the prices of food and goods offered at food stalls, restaurants, vending machines, etc., whether special or not, are rather expensive, but customers do not see this as a problem because they know the providers' circumstances, that is, the necessary expenses are usually higher than usual and they are also in business and need to make money. Customers are willing to pay more than the usual cost for the items they provide, and they know that they are in business and need to make a profit, so they are more than willing to spend the money, as if to promote the circulation. They don't speak out against their own culture and what it has to offer, and they don't complain and ruin entertainment and celebrations, and they don't act as if they are hurting businesses or workers or anything else. But it seems too expensive in the U.S., about twice the normal commercial price of anything. This is hard to believe in what is supposed to be the richest country in the world...
Was just at a game at Koshien yesterday. Best atmosphere in all of pro baseball I’ve been been to. Even including MLB. Absolutely the most friendly and passionate fans. 😊

The baseball cultures in Korea and Taiwan are also very enjoyable. I personally think the Taiwan culture is the most entertaining. It's one big party from first pitch to the final out.
I remember watching so many late 90s and early 2000s highschool baseball j-movies, and everyone's dream in those movies was to play in the biggest tournament in Koshien.
もし次来る機会があったらぜひ公式戦に来て、あの大応援を肌で感じてもらいたい
Baseball is the best sport to watch at the stadium in Japan. Fans are so passionate, and I can feel why it's the most popular professional sports league in Japan! 👍🏻
Yeah as an Aussie those stadium prices are absolutely incredible and something tells me all the food would be way more yummy than the stuff at Sydney Olympic Park!
I went to Japan 2 weeks ago and watched the Giants in Tokyo Dome, it was amazing I also splitted out from my group and went to Koshien from Osaka. I have been reading baseball manga from Adachi sensei since I was young and I wanted to visit the Holy ground of highschool baseball. It was beautiful, but I came when the Spring tournament just ended 2 days ago so the stadium was completely empty. Still was able to take some awesome pictures and saw the Babe Ruth plate at the Mizuno park (I'm a Yankees fan)
Hanshin Tigers 🐯 Is who I follow due to the fact I grew up in Leichhardt following the Balmain Tigers 🐯 Need to get back to get Hanshin Tigers Merch ❤
Thank you for watching Japanese baseball. Japanese people like baseball. If you have a chance, please come to the stadium again.
I was so sad that by the time I figured out how to get baseball tickets in Japan the season ended, so this was amazing and so interesting to watch! But geez those prices are so cheap. In the US the average food item is about $9-12 USD, and beer would be $10-13 USS so that's a steal with he amount of food you can get! Loved watching and the insight!
As a fellow Aussie living in Japan I also recently went to my first baseball game and I loved it too! Way more interesting than cricket and the beers and food are amazing and reasonable price. Go giants! I feel like you’ve taken the easy road picking hanshin, gotta support local even if they aren’t top form!

Great to see Baseball action and various activities belonging to it. It was nice that there was separate training area, where you could try baseball.
Koshien is Fenway Park of Japan! Going there is definitely on my bucket list. I want to be part of 7th inning stretch which is shooting balloon.
Went to a regular season game @ Koshien last year. Packed sold out stadium, insane atmosphere, especially since we were sitting in the right field bleachers, wedged in between die hard local fans .. A way more fun experience than any game I attended in the US.
Thank you for introducing Tigers and KOSHIEN to foreigners, I guarantee that the most exciting and fun stadium in Japan.
I'm a Hanshin Tigers fan as well! Jealous that you got to watch them practice and play!
thank you, most tourists could never go to these sorts of place so its such a great content.
Chicago Cubs fan here. Would love to see a game in Japan. Preferably next year when the Cubs and Dodgers open the MLB season in Tokyo.
The lead singer of the Japanese rock band Band-Maid, Saiki Atsumi, is a massive Hanshin Tigers fan. 😊 About 1/3 of her X feed is about the Tigers.
Taiwan's die-hard baseball fan here. You can also come visit Taiwan and experience the baseball atmosphere here.
I’m so happy that u really enjoyed a baseball game in Japan. Actually, I live in Colorado and went to MLB games . The atmosphere was completely different from Japanese ones but it was so fun!
This is not a regular season game, but a pre-season game. Regular season Hanshin Tigers games at Koshien Stadium are almost always packed. The Hanshin Tigers have the best attendance in Japan, and sixth in the world if you include MLB. And the cheering of Hanshin Tigers fans at Koshien is the most enthusiastic and entertaining in Japan.
Been to 8 NPB games over the years, Koshien is a lovely old stadium and is 100% worth seeing.
Is it an open battle? Once the baseball season begins, you can experience the atmosphere of Japanese baseball even more, and it has a unique atmosphere that is different from Major League Baseball.
Long time ago I went to Koshien to watch the high school matches. It’s a different vibe. Similar to March Madness. And Ace of Diamond is probably still the top baseball manga.

Thanx for this video, Sarah. Yes, I am a huge baseball fan and I've been to several games in Japan. I've never been to Koshien tho, but would love to go. Thanx for the tour of the museum. I would definitely go to it if I attended a game there. I dont think you mentioned it but Hanshin is the defending Japan Leagues champion. This was their 1st championship since 1985. There is a hilarious story about the "Curse of the Colonel" which was supposed to be the reason why they hadnt won in so long. Google this story - it's very funny. The cheering sections are called "Oendan" and they cheer all game long, no matter what the score. I know there have been a few baseball anime but I'm not familiar w any of them. But I do know that there is one called "Cromartie High School" named for an American baseball player, Warren Cromartie, who played in the major leagues and later in Japan.
I was in Japan last October and in arrived in Hiroshima the day of a playoff game ( I think against the Tigers ) . I was fun to see all the people in their Carp jerseys on their way to the game . The on the Shinkansen home a couple days later the guy sitting next to me was listening to the Tigers game . He was quite into it .
This was a fun video! Someday, I hope to get to see an NPB game live! To answer your question about American baseball food concession prices, it depends on where you go. If you go to a Minor League ballpark - the levels below Major League Baseball - you will spend less on food concessions. If you go to a Major League Baseball game, expect to spend much, MUCH more. For example, I recently went to Yankee Stadium and a 25 oz. beer, a one liter bottle of water, a foot-long hot dog, and bacon on a stick (yes, they have those) was nearly $40 USD. Regardless on how much you spend, you're going to have fun.
Great video! That museum looks worth a visit, too: informative and fun! Loved the manga display and baseball practice run. ⚾
Things I learned today when discussing this vdeo with my baseball obsessed mother: American teams trade players who need improbement to Japanese teams because they're os good. Which I should have known given Mr. Baseball but I've yet to see that one. Makes me want to now. I didn't know all this, Sara! I loved this video. Thanks for sharing! The batting looks fun.
Glad you like watching baseball in Japan 🇯🇵 especially my favorite team Hanshin Tigers 🐯
I have a vintage Tigers cap from the 1990's. 😊
I definitely need to check out the baseball museum. The manga panels look amazing!!!
Big baseball fan and I would love to see a game in Japan. My team is the Fukuoka Hawks in the NPB, but it would be so cool to see a game at Koshien with its history and distinctive all dirt infield. Ace of the Diamond is an awesome and probably most accurate baseball anime/manga if you get into it. Even though he’s not on the main team Sanada is my favorite player in the show.
I’m Japanese who currently live in US, and I’ve never been to Koshien ballpark. I’m sure Koshien is the best ballpark in Japan, I definitely need to visit there when I go back to Japan next time. Thank you for introducing this amazing place.
you were close, the start of a baseball game is called "first pitch". Watching baseball live is a MUCH better experience than watching it on TV - seems like you had a great time!
私は阪神タイガースファンです。去年に引き続き2連覇して欲しい! GO HANSHIN TIGERS!!!!🐯
I was actually thinking about going to an Orioles (Baltimore baseball team) game, but your video makes me want to go all the way to Japan! You really captured baseball culture there with this comprehensive look, from the history to the museum tour to the game itself! I guess Hanshin made you a baseball fan...and you made me a fan, and a subscriber!
Good choice! This is the most historical stadium in Japan.
The Hanshin Tigers are so enthusiastically popular in the Osaka area that fans call the Tigers' team song "Rokko Oroshi" the "National Anthem of the Republic of Osa
OMG Japanese baseball is insane (the amazing kind)! Ohtani and Ichiro are my faves!! Dia no Ace is great but my fave is Ookiku Furikabutte :) it's more grounded and heart-warming.. ugh.. I'm getting emotional thinking about it OTL thanks for taking us there, Sarah!

This match was held as a pre-season game so the audience was relatively few. So I would be glad if you go to the stadium when the regular season game is held. You feel a completely different atmosphere in the regular season game.
I'll be going to my first baseball game in a few weeks time in Yokohama! And will finally be watching a game at the legendary Koshien in June! Been supporting the Tigers for nearly a decade!
No Ozzy described the professional baseball culture in Japan any better than you! Good job! I'll share your video to my friends. If there is any chance, please keep posting the baseball series.
What!? Empty seats at a Hanshin Tigers game!? Then I realized it’s only a spring training game (Open-sen)
Excellent video, Sara! I'm not a baseball fan, but now I kinda want to see a game like this. Loved the snacks, and tour. Looks like fun!
I would love to see a baseball game in Japan. Great that this stadium also has a baseball museum to give some background info on the history of baseball in Japan. 👍 Btw, the Sydney Cricket Ground also has a museum, and they offer guided tours behind the scenes. Same in the US? I suppose so. As someone else mentioned, I would be interested in a video series on different sports popular in Japan. You did a nice clip on Sumo wrestling a while ago. 😁
I was only able to see 1 game while I was in Tokyo, I saw the Tokyo Giants, what an experience, absolutely loved every second and the Japanese goes nuts pitch by pitch, every inning. Right outside the Tokyo Dome we’re they play, there’s a huge haunted house, there was a 3 hour wait after the game, YES I waited, and absolutely well worth it. WOW what an outstanding tour. Absolutely Loved Every Second /// Outstanding From Start To Finish
I'm Filipino but my stepdad is from Kobe, so automatically this is a Hanshin household lol. I never really got into baseball since Philippines is all about boxing and basketball. But just last year I just got hooked into the team after learning about their fascinating history and the Curse of the Colonel. And what a time to jump into the Hanshin bandwagon because they won the Japan Series on my 1st year watching and folowing them. I'm a Hanshin lifer now.

I went to my first baseball game before I left this March, an opening game at Meiji Jingu stadium and it was the Tokyo Swallows vs. Chunichi Dragons loved it, seats were a little small but everything else was amazing!, also there was like 30k in attendance that day I'm a baseball fan now too lol, I miss the late night batting cages and seeing everyone from salarymen and young kids to couples having a date there, just having fun and going ham in the cages...

I love baseball. I have season tickets for my local team in the States. Went to my first NPB game last year at the Tokyo Dome to watch the Giants and Swallows. It honestly was the most fun I've had at a game. I love how engaged every fan was throughout the game with all the team chants, cheers for specific players, etc. It's really something to see everyone focused on the game and not on their phones. I can't say I've seen that ever at a game back home. The food was great and very reasonable. And the beer girls were super cool to watch. Really something to see them run up and down each section with a backpack keg.

I'm a baseball fan from San Diego, California and my team is the Padres. We have a beautiful baseball park and good weather all year so we don't really care much about winning or losing, we just love spending a laid-back afternoon watching a game. I studied abroad in Kyoto so naturally I became a Tigers fan and the energy that Kansai fans bring to Baseball games was inspiring! Watching games in Taiwan is similar with the music and constant cheering throughout. I loved watching the SD-LA preseason series in Korea this year and I hope Baseball continues to speed throughout the world!

@@ikkisan_htvk Oh yeah, we love Darvish and Suarez. Darvish has a mural near a ramen shop in the Convoy District, a historic Pan-Asian neighborhood in the city. Matsui has looked good so far. Pierce was pretty good for us before he left. We also had Nick Martinez for a couple seasons, who used to play with Suarez in Japan. I went to a card shop in Akihabara that and looked through their NPB collection and found some familiar names like Adam Jones (born in San Diego, played with Orix) and George Arias (former Padre). Pretty cool to see that.

2:49 right picture is Yuki Matsui, joined Padres this year. He had 22Ks in a game (including 10Ks in a row) and made high school baseball tournament record.
Calling Ohtani's glove a "baseball mitten*" was so adorable! *And, yes, I know gloves are also called 'mitts'. My point still stands.
Get yourself a glove so if there is a pop fly into the stadium seats, you can catch it..and hopefully not get hit. I caught a pop fly at a Cubs baseball game in Chicago, which was both amazing and a little painful. We are building a brand new professional baseball stadium in my city, which will be the new home of a team imported from California. I hope to see the Dodgers and Otani play this summer! Welcome to the love of the game!

Ballpark food is really expensive in the US. Total ripoff, but it's a captive audience since no one can bring alcohol into the stadiums. In fact, most stadiums ban all bags (including purses). When it comes to concessions, the customers are treated right in Japan. By the way, if you think those beer girls have it rough while you were there, think about it during the summer. Their uniform and the keg doesn't change. If you want to see that stadium packed, go during the actual Koshien tournament.
In the U.S., not only are seats costly, but so is everything else in the stadium. I can attest to this from my own experience attending a Yankees game at the old stadium, so I can only imagine it's even pricier in the new one.

That yakisoba dish would probably be like $20-25 in the US at the few stadiums that would have it. Lately I keep watching videos of people going to Japanese games and it feels like an absolute experience. Hoping to go to at least a Chunichi game next year. New challenge is going to all of the stadiums in Japan to compare them.
Id love to see a baseball game in Japan.
Awesome opportunity…love the sounds/scents of pro baseball games.
Fun to see the atmosphere at the game. Looks like you enjoyed your first game. I love baseball and my favorite team is the Phillies from Philadelphia. Here in the states everything is expensive and keeps going up in price. Haven't been to games recently. The food is always costly. The game is fun but sadly it is all about raking in the money for the owners and the mlb. It takes away from the real fans who love the game.
Cool video. Couldn't get tickets to a Tigers game in May, might try again once I'm there. And the phrase you're looking for is "opening pitch" :)

Every player getting their own song is something I wish we did in North America, brings the energy of a European football match.
