Good language mate... it is a dust mask, and superior to the disposables. It is not however, a respirator. I think for your hand tool shop, it is a legitimate option as you simply wont generate the quantity of fine dust a power tool shop will. They offered to send me one, and included a very handy video link that confirmed my main suspicion and concern, that are *not* Australian standard approved or NIOSH/OSHA (the US equivalent) for use as a respirator. I asked them if they have had any independant testing done to qualify their protection claims, and they have not. RZ masks which are very similar *have* tried to get OSHA approval a few times and to my knowledge failed at each attempt. This means they are not suitable to be used as PPE regularly in dusty environments as the design of the mask does not form an airtight seal like a silcone respirator does and are just plain dangerous when it comes to organic vapour protection. So weigh up your use case. How you've shown you use it... perfectly fine. If you are looking for solvent protection or use power tools, avoid these cloth masks and get a proper respirator.

Thanks for sharing some of that extra information, I'm sure it will be useful for others. I agree with you which is why i have a 3M respirator for applying finishes etc.

interesting, I'll have to look into one. I use one of those green rubber p2's from a big box and I've flogged it when removing rust with a wirewheel. But the hot days in melbourne, the rubber can be a pain against the skin and you cant really fully clean it once the sweat gets into it.

Sorry for the late reply my last reply didn't show up for some reason. Hopefully one of these masks will be more comfortable for you than a rubber mask, but don't forget these masks are a dust mask and not approved for respirator use.

My family keeps masks like these in the toilet to save them from my post-use malodorous airs. Thanks for the review.
