Just wanted to say how much I appreciate these videos as a beginner mixologist. I work at a high end bar as well and have even introduced some of your garnishing techniques to my managers and they love them!! Thanks, David !!

Hello - I’ve been tending for just about half of a year now which feels crazy even typing this out because time has been flying lol. My recommendation would be to ask yourself where you would want to end up bartending at. Would you feel more comfortable in a dive bar, casino (and or a game bar) hotel, or restaurant bar like this lad here. From there, I would try and educate yourself on basic cocktails, wines, and popular shots(not things like jack and coke). From there, I would go to your local Ross, tj maxx or any kinds of stores of that nature or even and find yourself a pour spout a tin shaker with a jigger if possible, and an empty glass bottle (even a empty oil & vinegar glass works) and put the spout in and begin to practice simple pouring. From there pay close attention to how the flow of the spout works and really just continue to educate yourself. If you can, grab the most basic rail liquors, make simple syrup, sour mix ( which there are over 20 videos on each Recipe to make on KZread itself) some fresh fruits and some good ice, and practice making cocktails, margs, and other style drinks and shots for your friends and their significant others, family, and neighbors depending on the circumstances lol. Now with that being said, actively search for bars or restaurants in your area that are hiring. I myself will go into the establishment and have a drink and really observe the area, the employees, what kind of customers and environment that you may be interested in putting yourself in for work. Spark a conversation to see exactly what they’re looking for and go from there. I cannot stress enough of making sure that you’re being honest, let them know that you’re interested in getting into s bartending role and that you’re new to this. You do not want to let them know you’ve been drinking for years and even fib and tell them you have experience because you will just be the clueless jackass behind the bar and not a real bartender or Mixologist. Restaurants will more than likely make you start from another position first and work your way up because bartending is genuinely a privilege. So ask yourself again, is this something I really want to do?Now being in a position like that will result in lots of training from whatever employer hires you, they will mold you into what they need. So please DO NOT go into any position thinking you know what to do or how to make this or that because every establishment has their own ways of doing things and preferences. I missed a ton of info but I hope you get a chance to read this and that this helps and gives you more of an insight, good luck on your journey and i hope you can get to where you want to go. As always - Cheers my friend
