In this week's video I take you behind the scenes with the Honda Talon Factory Racing team for a look at a full test session out in Barstow, CA.
To say I was happy to get back in the race seat is an understatement!!
Since these new Honda Talons are untested we have to constantly test and put so much development into these cars. Races are usually won in the preparation and readiness going into a long race so that is what we try to prepare for.
We were out with shock tuners to dial in these cars on some of the worst whooped out terrain Southern CA has to offer in Barstow Main. Barstow is known to be a very common testing spot for off road because it most closely replicates the harsh roads down in Baja. We hit some 4 foot whoops in this UTV at nearly 80mph!
After a couple more test sessions to come in the next couple months, these Honda Talons will be ready for the next race at the Baja 500! I can't wait to race my first Baja race.

How do you like the new Honda Talons?

I’d love my talon if the turbo kit functioned properly. June 9th I’m adding the Fox iQS shock system which will take my talon to a different level. How much HP does your Talon have?

@@gravesru Hope there is a fix for you soon. That iQS is going to be an awesome upgrade. I don't know the numbers but if we dyno it I'll try and make a video around it.

Looks like the rear is hard to tame. Has a fair amount of "kick". Makes the car nervous and unsettled. Front is working much better.
Man, I can't wait to hit Barstow this fall!! But I think I'm in for a whole new experience, that's absolutely nothing like the northeast, and that's what I love most about it!! I want to open my Talon up!! Keep up the good work brother!

It's a great place to train! The terrain is pretty crazy and it gets torn up with all the big boys plus the whoops are MASSIVE, perfect storm for some sick desert days!!
Huge progress made. Looking forward to seeing yous at the finish line.

Man my dream utv! Im probably gonna end up with the can am even tho im a die hard honda guy, the performance just isn't there with the talon. This talon looks amazing tho!

What tires are you running? What size? Stock rim offsets?

I don't have that information. I was a hired driver, the Honda Off Road team made all changes and retained all data.
Have they fixed the rattling doors ? Mine still rattle on my talon x4...

I just adjusted mine. It’s free. I have a 2019 1000R and still have not broken anything. No rattles anywhere. Well unless you want to count the drinks in the cooler.

Is there even one bolt in that car that was originally used in a stock Talon?

Yes most of the car is factory.

The length of it looks longer than the normal 2dr talons. Also the rear suspension looks to have a longer rake??

You can go buy one and make the changes yourself. No one makes race ready cars off the lot.
it looks nice, just i see to much bounce over the lkittle hills, need little more work,..

We took them out for another test session last week to dial them in more 👍
I'd love one but if I was doing stuff like you ,I would die in it! If I can't ride my moto then it's time to hang up the spurs. You guys looked like bobble head dolls in there. I could of swore that I heard a cop light you up but you might have left him in the dirt.

The cars aren't for everyone and it's not always that smooth of a ride. Those were the sirens on my race car.
Looks absolutely nothing like the talons on the show room floors. If Honda was smart about it, they produce them like this one out of the factory. Guarantee they’d outsell Polaris and can am if they were like this stock from the get go.

That's because it's a 4 seat platform converted into a 2 seat race car. It's got a beefed up roll cage, suspension components, top of the line navigation, radio communication, lights, bumpers, and many other additions to make it sustainable for racing a 500-1000 mile baja race. If they built these cars off the showroom it would cost the customer $50-100k.
Is that really even a talon 😂🤣

No kidney belt, the race seats are fitted and snug to my body.
