If Jack London was a deer hunter, I feel like I’ve just spent two hours with him. Absolute gold. Thank you Push, thank you Barry.
I haven't seen him in years. Brought me back to when I was a kid and would watch his VHS tapes over and over. Thanks for the upload.

Man Barry is quite a breath of fresh air. What’s a humble, kind man. Nice to see especially in this modern era
Give me an old timer with a couple of hours to spare and I'm turning my phone off so that I can soak in everything he's got to say.

Excuse me?
Barry and Gene were making videos before videos were cool, godfather's of modern bowhunting... Kurt Gowdys video and October Whitetails by the Wensels brought monster bucks to every living room. Genes first two books opened up my eyes and shared a wealth of knowledge. I still find nuggets 30yrs later.
I’ve watched this video a bunch of times. It’s pure gold
Ive been a fan of the Wenzels ever since the late 70s and early 80s Ive gotten old looking up to them. Hope theyre around forever
Good grief we're all getting old! I grew up reading the Wensel books, articles and watching their videos along with Paul Brunners, Asbell, St. Charles, Bear, etc. Thanks for sharing this.
Huge thank you Barry from Quebec City in Canada. Thank you for your precious wealth of information and your humor, based on passion, curiosity, observation, rigor and generosity. I wish I had all this knowledge when I started deer hunting 65 years earlier! Long life and many years of hunting to come.
He's forgotten more than most will ever know. Great man.

Well said guys full of knowledge wow !!! 👏👏👏
Imagine how much stuff we would learn if we just asked those that have lived it? Those that have hunted forever... WWII vets....just crazy to think. I started hunting at 20 without any kind of mentor and I'm 39 now... would've been nice to have a grandpa like this. Your a badass Barry..

I’m 20 and going on my first hunt this fall. Don’t even know where to start. Trying to watch videos like this and just be a sponge for a few hours.
I had the privilege to meet Gean and Barry in 1986 at a show like this for all most 3 hr. Long amazing
Thank you Berry for your years and all your knowledge and sharing it. Thank you
These guys are the essence of what bow hunting is all about they shoot traditional and that’s the way the sport was intended
Outstanding, loved every minute of it!
2 hrs of pure gold, thanks
got to meet him and his brother several times and sit around the Compton Campfire with him and his brother, Glen St Charles, Fred Asbell, Monty Browning, TJ Conrads, Fred Eichler, etc, lot of the legends are aging and leaving us sadly!
Barry tells a great story. Thank you for putting this up.
So glad I found this , thank you for sharing your wisdom . It was like listening to my grandpa again .
I really enjoyed this. Loved the stories. Love to sit on a porch with you an listen to more! Thanks
Golden information here for new hunters or old. Thanks for the video!
Been following you for many years glad to see you're still going strong😁
Thanks for the great video. I was unaware of your channel until after my wife and I bought 2 of your Alpha bags at ETAR last week. We googled The Push from the bag and was nicely surprised with the videos that you produce. Now I just need time to watch them. Thank you again for your efforts. Love the Alpha bags.
Old timer from Ontario Canada listening to another old timer.Interesting and a few laughs to boot . 67 years old here . Shit happens in the woods I have my own stories too . You can't beat experience . Thanks

A true legend.
been using Christmas trees and garland for years to brush in stands, they stay green and last years.
OUTSTANDING!!!
I still have a handwritten letter from his brother Gene where I had asked about finding good feathers for my arrows --- respect to both of them----on the chewing tobacco and pee stories my brother watched a 5 point buck eat the chew he had taken out of his mouth and placed on a log ------I have also watched them walk through my pee and not blink an eye.
That was beautiful I would have loved to have seen him in person
Great seminar “and stuff, type a thing”
Thanks Barry
If you are a new whitetail hunter listen to everything Barry says. One of his early videos from the 80s (October Whitetails) is the reason I picked up a bow in the first place. I had the pleasure to meet Barry about 5 years ago what a nice guy.

I love this guy. “That’s how they live” I want to be that sure of deer
25? years ago i bought a vhs tape of Barry & his brother deer hunting. Barry was charging through the trees pulling a string with rattling antlers .He said he was trollin ! I laughed so hard on the bear story i had tears .On a serious note though i bet there are mountain lions that dont have all the deer savy he does.
Wealth of knowledge......an they share it...
John here watched a lot of him shooting running deer with a recurve truly a hunter and a bowmen
Glad to see you're still going strong 😎been a fan of yours for as long as I can remember🇺🇸 what is your opinion of the hunting public?
This is a pretty good video type a thing.
Started watching him back around the October Whitetail days on VHS.
Hey Barry great seminar I met you in Maryland Howard County Fairgrounds seems like 100 years ago but all the hunters nowadays not all they like the corn Pile and that’s OK but needless to say they don’t learn too much by sitting on a corn pile all the time I’m different I shoot traditional bow i use my compound bow and my crossbow it all depends on what I want to do that day but my passion is traditional archery I wish that these people would get away from that corn Pile and actually learn how to hunt instead of just waiting for the deer to come to them I would learn a heckuva lot more going out into the woods and actually looking for detail like you’re talking about I made it work for me several times and that’s the way to go . I’m a weekend warrior so it’s a little bit harder for me to get out there and do a lot of scouting I normally take the first couple of weeks during the archery season and scout and 99% of the land I hunt is public land and I usually do pretty well so I want to thank you your brother Jean bye the way I been reading Gene’s book one mans white tail great book )and all the other guys back then in the 70s for helping me be a better hunter I think everyone that’s been out there you can gain knowledge from but like I said before we need to get these kids out there and teach them how to Really hunt and not just to sit on a corn pile
I remember on Tradgang the retelling of the hog charges soon after they happened. I'm glad he's "letting his secrets out" with the new DVD set. I ordered off of 3Rs.

In the mule deer population, they get split ears on occasion from the winter, basically frost bite, the ear splits. Not to Tommy Top or say you're incorrect, just adding my two cents to that topic.

Also cut cedars trees to brush in hang on stands and ladders to hide them from both deer and other hunters. work great, people never see them or you
nice
You can always find Christmas trees thrown out after christmas
This old guy will share . Put old medicine bottles with cotton balls soaked in doe scent at point in the ground away from Your tree stand that are easy to see . Hang a scent ball from below your stand , no elaborate rig tying as in the video .

this y you hunt with old school bow so you can learn woods
Esau A cunning hunter a man of the field.
👍🇺🇸
Barry what type of bow do you use the name and model, please
Type a thing. And stuff.
An interesting seminar from Barry, enjoyed the video, but that guy on the left front rolls bald head was rough on the eyes.
This guy is a whitetail legend type ah thing
Careful calling to highly pressured whitetail deer. They have been called to and shot at multiple times by the time they are 2 years old.
This man has spent sometime observing deer and deer behavior ...an many other tips and hints... best save this to your device... I would recommend to play it again an again... you will pick up more then you can practice... I never shot a mature deer over 22 yards.... ....I myself had to learn by storys told by some of the best hunters and videos.....and alot of trial-and-error .. and I still mess up... Things happen.....act of nature... ....but,. Things do happen when you do get it right... . I bet he still hasn't told you his heart felt confession of his or my hottest hunting tips of all.... ....Pray... Have Faith... in the Lord... Be Thankful of the beautiful morning to be up in a tree stand and watch wildlife unfold before your very eyes...starting in the autumn air... an if you find it it in your will to send one this way.... I say thankful lord for your blessing on me ... Amen...
Covid 19 sneeze 😂 for deer
I'm old now, you know?
My granddaddy was big hunter probably killed 150 deer. But he wasn't a horn hunter. He said when I was real young I wanted to kill a big horned buck. But you can't eat them horns and a good 4 pointer or 6. Usually taste better even doe is as good to eat probably better and more tender than a buck,,, he told me enjoy being out in,the woods. And if you take a deer. That's great if not enjoy being out there,,,
Old School almost a thing of the past,You don't get this knowledge anymore on the hunting videos that are made for advertising and hype.
Why is there honey on the table?
Wheres bigfoot👣👣
Yea well you hunt Prime properties that you and the land owner agree on letting them grow.

BARRY you understand common sense is not that common
Secret to successful whitetail deer hunting? Hunt private land where they aren't pressured. That's the number one thing. Most of the hunting gurus out there almost exclusively hunt low pressured private land.
@Djsweepaman

Ehh I disagree. You wont have to earn deer. Your woodsmanship will go away. Hunting food plots in towers .... isnt really hunting. Those guys on TV have really lost touch with reality.
@HillTrekkerSarge
4 жыл бұрын
@@Djsweepaman This dude hunts food plots? If so, I agree. Food plots, feeders, high fences etc ain't really hunting. I'm a poor boy. The great majority of deer I have killed was done so on public land, and yeah, I'm a if it's brown, it's down kinda hunter.

I live and bow hunt in a highly pressured state with bad game laws. When I tell people my life goal is to take a P&Y buck on public land (with a bow of course), their eyes get big and they state how difficult that is. Most big bucks here are taken on private land, next to a corn feeder, with a crossbow.
@Djsweepaman

@@MrShysterme The big P&Y bucks are out there I promise. The vast majority of people dont want to put the work in to go get them, plain and simple.

@@HillTrekkerSarge Not him, no. But private land guys do. The big TV show "gurus " as you call them do. They feed their deer supplements and protein to grow their antlers. It's more farming then hunting, actually not hunting at all.
