The ceiling is one of the most common places for inmates to hide things. In real life? Terrorists and criminals love hiding things in the ceiling. Hader gives a masterful performance during the action scenes. This is where we see Barry in his comfort zone. He has no emotion on his face, only calculation on how to get out of the situation alive and on top. Killing is second nature to him or it is just his nature. Showing emotions, being human is unknown territory for him and it's scary. So, throughout the season, we keep seeing this side of him pop up to save him from harm, physically or emotionally. And he hates himself afterwards or regrets his action. Kind of like how an addict acts. He is superb in how he portrays this multifaceted character so effortlessly. Praise is always thrown to some shows as being the best that TV has to offer with some performances being heralded as the best ever. But more attention should be paid or should have been paid to this show and Hader's performance in particular.

One of the best scenes I have ever seen in any series. Absolutely insane
The coincidence that both the writer and director of the movie “Rain Man” are both named Barry is hilarious
"It's like when two idiots collide." -Sovietwomble
‘Barry’ infuses tension, awesome action shots, dry humor, smooth dialogue, and laugh-out-loud hilarious comedy with such finesse.
Just that last shot with barry stood with gun in hand is enough to tell the audience that he's gonna escape lol. Dude is an absolute monster, but is also such fun to watch in action
The best show any SNL character has ever had
That "shit" is so subtly hilarious and casual at 1:50. This whole scene is magical but that gets me every time.
“Autism be damned my boy can work a gun.” - Fuches
Watching season 4 feels like a reward for keeping up with the series all these years.

@@Zack29810 yeah, it was really good, but like, I feel like it was 3 seasons in 1. There's a lot there. It was good, but I'm also like? Dammit that sucks lol
Never has comedy, action, suspense, and drama been blended so seamlessly. There is so much about this show that I love and I could go on all day about the notes embedded in this show. It's an absolute masterclass of writing, directing, casting, adaptation, irony, satire, and more.
Best scene....best episode ever!!!
This show really does the "short yet effective" action sequences better than any other show out there. The comedic touches are just the cherry on top.
Obsessed with the Lynchian vibes of Fred Armisen staring at someone from the back of the room like he's trying to make their head explode
The way Hader directs the action scenes in this show is just unbelievably impressive.
Every cinematic production with any action sequences need to take note of the action sequences in this show. This is top-tier filmmaking, but there's nothing flashy about it! Incredible!
I love Fred Armisen so much and being surprised by a peak goofy Fred Armisen scene made my damn day. Absolutely incredible.
If the pen gun had worked it would've actually been a really good hit. The guy in the ceiling i think was supposed to clean up the guards and he did his job perfectly.
I always love how calm Barry is in these moments of someone trying to kill him

He’s used to it 😂 not the first time Hank has tried to kill Barry
If you added a laugh track this would literally be an SNL skit. Bill might’ve hated his time there but god damn he learned some things

i dont think he hated his time there, he just had anxiety that made it difficult to perform
The writing for this was so spot on. Being able to identify a threat and change immediately is something that only experience can do. The calm demeanor when Barry identified the threat was perfect.
Barry finds a gun and immediately takes control and handles the situation, great example of PTSD
Some fargo level absurdity. I love Barry ahaha 🤣
I thought Fred Armisen character knew him from possibly serving together but then I realized the hit hank put out... this scene had me cracking up 😂
Man I miss this show. Such a great mixture of so many genres. I love how Barry mainly survived by sheer luck due to everyone being so incompetent. Always gave him the opportunity to put his lethal skills to use because they mess up somehow. Only show you'd be laughing during a horrific gun fight.

Seeing them back together was awesome!
The guy merc'ing 4-5 people but then somehow getting himself strung up in the wire out of incompetence as he bursts from the ceiling is the funniest visuals I've seen in this show so far.

Out of life, more like.
You might blush at the idea of being referred to as an egg, I don't know..made me laugh so hard I almost pee'd myself
(SMALL SPOILERS) Just realized that Chuy is the last person Barry kills in the whole show
Armisen totally threw me off in this scene and I couldn't stop laughing at him, so the action surprised me. I had to rewind the scene and watch it again. The cameos for this episode were surprising and fantastic.
Stoked!
This scene and the Rain Man needle drop had me pissing myself
Man this episode was brilliant. The moment Fuges watching rainman and saying " this is us" 😂 oh my god that was brilliant
Just got to love how quickly this all devolves into pure chaos. What a great ending.
Guillermo! Also, I saw a comment somewhere saying “Congrats to Fred Armisen for making a facial expression no one’s ever made before.” 😂
1:50 i love how instead of trying to disarm the assassin the agents just move out of the way for him to shoot

I mean he pulls out a gun disguised as a pen so in their eyes he’s just pointing a pen at him
You know I saw this scene online about a week before I started watching the show. Despite that, I STILL laughed my ASS OFF at it like it was new. Ridiculousness at its best!
Barry - A great antithesis for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul
There are mag dumps, then there are MAG DUMPS From a fundamental perspective, I love that Bill or the showrunners have at least had some light weapons training that really ties it all together with his line of work and backstory. Amazing series; epic scene!
Let’s acknowledge how epic it is that Bill got Fred Armison on the show.
YOOOO THIS SEASON IS CRAZY

Damn I know right I was like WTF that shit caught me off guard.
Any time Hader and Armisen are in anything together, it's perfect. I laughed so hard at Armisen's face and knew something awesome was about to happen as soon as he appeared. I'd love to know how many takes this scene took based on how easily Bill always broke on SNL, especially when Fred was in the scene
I love him over-correcting where he's looking as soon as Barry turns around. No poker face at all.
I love those scenes without background action music
Really cool that Bill managed to get Fred into his show and not have it feel like a forced cameo.
Great cameos and surprises all around this episode, including the warden… ‘Where the hell is Berkmann? I have People Skills, don’t you see that?!!!’
This scene reminded me of a bugs bunny cartoon. The cigar exploding in the hand. The double take at the goofy scene the assassins end up in. Its perfect
Love how the headshots are realistic - no lingering, straight dropped
I love how he keeps peeking at the ceiling waiting for the other assassin

Excellent observation and why I read the comments.
The second I saw Fred Armisen I couldn’t stop laughing and knew immediately that he was one of the hitmen referred to in the beginning of the episode and that Barry was in danger
The casting session for this scene: Hader to Armisen: "So, you are playing Ferrecito from SNL whose life has spiraled into working for the cartel since he lost his cable access show. " Armisen to Hader: "Where are we putting the timbales in this prison interrogation room?"
I love this and have watched it a couple times. I still wonder how you hide an assassin in the ceiling of a maximum security prison.
Okay, so I know that, diegetically, Barry's busy squinting at Fred's character trying to figure him out but given how bemused Barry looks in this moment I also desperately want to think that Fred just randomly walked onto the set, one day, and Bill only noticed he was there in the middle of filming the scene - like "Fred?! What the ever-loving heck are YOU doing here?!?!" Honestly? Fred would! 😂

Why though?
One of the funniest and best action scenes in Barry yet. I laughed so hard at Freds character. That look he gives is so unsettling.
One of the funniest things I've seen all year and it's just Fred Armisen's face.
Seeing the barrel have to move around in the vent in order to shoot berry adds such a realness factor to the scene that I just can’t describe but I love so much
the double take at 2:24 lmao
