Thawne also told Barry he'd see him come the next Crisis, possibly with a different face, none of which came to pass. So this may very well be the end of the road for him.

Thawne has become more insane over the years. He was much more reasonable in Season 1 and in LOT, which is perfect because he's fairly insane in the comics and in some versions of the story even more than others. There is a comic that explains Thawne went back and changed time a bunch of times just to torture Barry as a kid by ruining his life and killing his school friends as children. This Thawne is clearly becoming more crazed.

@@jacoba6747 yeah, thawne has died and "died" like 10 times now. he keeps getting erased and killed and shit and he always comes back. i guess at least now, since he isnt dead, him coming back isnt as nuts (we've seen speedsters lose and regain their speed in the past). i love flash and reverse flash and their rivalry, but since reverse flash always comes back, theres never any stakes or tensions.

Barry : Look at little Reverse Flash Jr, Gonna Cry?

A lot of people predicted something like this would happen. In the last volume of Josh Williamson's Flash, Barry did something he had never done before to end his war with Reverse Flash: Forgive him. Thawne tried to attack him but Allen vibrates in a way that "resets" Thawne. As a result, Eobard is now a huge Flash fan working at the Flash Museum in the 30th Century. Extended Context: So Reverse Flash assembled a “Legion of Zoom,” consisting of most of Flash’s villains. They attacked the Flash and weaken him to the point that Thawne is able to steal Allen’s body. He is eventually removed after Barry regains control. The Flash Family gets involved and more villains show up for the battle. During the fight, Thawne reveals that he has been responsible for a lot of events, including Zoom’s origin, Godspeed’s origin, Heroes in Crisis, and Flash Wars. These were mostly done by moving so fast that he couldn’t be seen and by whispering hyper speed to implant subconscious suggestions. More Flashes from across the multiverse show up and help the Flash Family fight the army of villains. Barry chases Thawne into the Speed Force. The narration claims that throughout history, this is the FINAL RACE between Barry and Thawne. Thawne starts talking trash about how they have been enemies for so long. However, Barry chooses to forgive him rather than killing him or allowing him to escape. Thawne gets mad and runs at him, but Barry tricks him by vibrating at the right frequency to infect the Negative Speed Force with regular Speed Force. This “grounds” Thawne back into reality. It erases his experiences as the Reverse Flash, and he becomes a tour guide at the flash museum, completely unaware of the villainous past.

also, from watching the episode...one thing I'm loving about Barry being faster than Thawne is that the writers are for once KEEPING IT CONSISTENT. no more out of nowhere Thawne can land a punch on him, or somehow match his speed. it's really refreshing to see after seasons of it being inconsistent.

Cause they focused more of season 7 on the newer people of the flash because of grant having a child and he didn’t want covid to interfere. Now we are circling back. I’m really proud with how season 8 is turning out so far.

@@agentcooper194 No not at all. Cisco just happened to get vibe powers. Thawne had no control over who got which powers. And in the same scene where he calls him a son doesn't he, ya know, kill him? Kinda proves that he is crazy and whatever emotional attachments he may have won't get in his way. Though the Thawne we have now is completely different one from the one is season one. This one doesn't even pretend to give a flying truck about any of the members of Team Flash. Season One RF was cool calm, collected and intelligent. This Thawne is rage filled, and kinda dumb in my opinion.

Eobard will return it's going to be Matt Letscher's Reverse Flash. Remember Barry only knows the Wells version of Eobard so he will have to kill this Eobard the one that Cavanaugh plays so it opens the door for the first time we see Matt Letscher and Barry where we see them fight and go back to season 1 and that's where Matt gets stuck and has take the face of Harrison Wells and the Cycle starts all over. Yes, Barry and Matt's version have met occasionally.

Unless you are implying that the current timeline is that timeline in which case if they do go back and play out that whole thing then the current timeline will be erased and it will basically just loop. Which I guess would be a great series finale if they have that as the final battle only for it to loop and show that Thawn and Barry’s conflict with each other is eternal

@@scott.truesdale I guarantee this is how they will end the show when the final episode comes. It would be a successful ending if they do that because it makes sense. Having a great ending to your show is a coveted thing in TV and they would hit it out of the park if they did this. Although, a Barry on the original timeline did initially fight Reverse Flash that night...somewhere in time the original timeline where Barry's mom lives and he becomes the Flash in 2020 exists/existed and is probably the one that fought RF that night. I would say that another piece of the story they will probably put in the last season and possibly the last episode is that Barry becomes the lightening bolt that turns himself into the Flash to begin with.

Think of that!!!. Yeah barry now is becoming himself in future. But if you think about the fight in the night. There is no more of that. Maybe they will creates a new fight in that night. Edit: this barry is created in year 2014. The original is created in year 2020. Cisco literally said this in season 1. He said "so we're living in another timeline". Kind of said that.

People keep saying that Thawne will come back and they’re most likely right. But this is the end of Tom Cavanagh’s Reverse-Flash. This is where Thawne’s story ends, but the original timeline Reverse-Flash (Matt letcher) will have to go back in time and try and kill Barry as a child while fighting The Flash, thus killing Barry’s mother. He will come back but as Matts original RF.

@@datboijgk4736 No, it doesn't work like that. In episode 4 barry restoring the timeline erased every possible timeline variation, anachronisms. There are no more versions of Eobard Thawne in any timelines, that's why he was getting erased. But barry taking away his speed saved him.

Like, in Reverse Flashpoint, kid Barry died right and adult barry started to fade away but that shouldn't happen cause in the OG flashpoint, he stopped himself from getting powers and Wally got it instead so it should've affected barry but it didn't, only his memories did.

Thawne has an agenda... it's not over, not so easily... In the end of part 4, he said something like : nobody use the timeline against me and he add you gonna help me to Gideon. He set up something more tricky than the Reverse Flash Point.

everyone has to understand. Thawne was always meant to have speed to be the biggest thorn in barry's side. Thawne is crafty and a pro of manipulating the timeline. even if they got his speed away that is also how he got his speed in the first place (if you follow the comics). Thawne was meant to fuck with the timeline. whatever the cause is, theres always an effect.

Thawne literally created a artificial particle accelerator just to be like the flash he’s going to come back

The weird thing is that you never feel anger anymore when you see Thawne and his antics. It's amazing what jealousy does to someone and you start to feel sorry for him

I don't believe for a SECOND this is the end for him. Eobard Thawne depowered forever is about as believable as Barry losing his powers forever.

I can imagine if Oliver were still alive, he would’ve told Barry how he stoped his mother’s killer, Slade without killing or letting him die, by taking away his power and locking him up in an ARGUS cell.

Thawne knows the procedure behind Barry's speed. His is just an improved (note "improved") version of that speed. Thawne can get his speed back, but with different chemicals than the ones used on Barry. Though, getting his speed back runs the risk of getting wiped.

Honestly Thawne had it coming. He killed Barry’s mother and framed his father. Also, crested his own flashpoint and killed Barry when he was a child in his timeline so Barry could get erased from thawnes timeline, luckily barry saved himself from getting erased from the timeline.

Yea, the part where Barry ask him why he hated him so much, I was also thinking what is his motivation all along to be his archenemy? Not all villains have perfect reason but it has been so long, shouldn't he has moved on? Like not like the world decide normal speed force and negative speed force cannot coexist. If he used his speed for other stuff other than killing Barry, he could live life however he wanted. Barry literally does not affect him until he keeps choosing to harp on the "he steal my glory" part. Like some secondary sch kid who got outshine at the group project and decided to hold a grudge for his entire adult life, where nobody gives any fuck about. All the other deep grudge like him killing his mother arises from his choices to do so. Most villains wanted to do something bad to the world for their respective motivation, then the heroes stop them, creating their personal conflict, but reverse flash is the reverse, he has no goals for the world, he just wanna shit on Barry, but even that motivation is weird.

It’s cool that Barry doesn’t need to run anymore to generate lightning or to throw lightning. He can do it inside his body without moving, that so cool.

Nah I agree with Joe, there are better ways than to resort to killing or allowing someone to die knowing you can save them. It makes you just as bad as your villain if you kill them. Taking away his powers, putting him in a prison is a much better and frankly, the correct way.

He created alot of loops over a period of time, and all his remnants have the same goal more or less.... Remember LoT where Thawne gets all his remnants throughout time to fight against the legends 😂 Since S1 we've seen Thawne come from the future, past & present to attack Barry and also a Thawne who has no clue about Barry being the Flash during the 1st Flashpoint 😂

So safe to assume red death is gonna be whoever gets Thawn's speed. the potential red death candidates I think are Bloodwork, Godspeed (god I hope not he's lame), Zoom (since Eric Wallace wants to bring him back. I wouldn't mind it being Bloodwork and Godspeed combined tho.

Well no since godspeed is from the future and dead, bloodwork kinda lazy, i weirdly much prefer a newer person to take up the mantle, but to be an anti hero killing criminals and seeing barry’s way of being a hero isn’t working, since red death actually had no motive in the comics

My theory is he built something to capture his speed knowing to save his life he’d lose his speed. This is probably part of another plan

They don't even bother to try to think of anyway to stop Damien Darkh from fading out of existence despite being somewhat redeemed, as he grew and cared about his daughter. We know what Damien wanted but it didn't mean it was impossible. Yet they don't decide to let Thawne fade out and Joe has a angry speech that magically changes minds. They could've at least been too late. The future flash-the matt letsch version is still out there for flash to encounter. I enjoyed this 5 episode story arc but this is the kinda stuff that seperates latter seasons from the much better earlier ones is how like every villain gets to live regardless of how atrociously bad they are or not.

I like the old reverse flash suit better, this one is more comic accurate tho

Perhaps in a way at least for Eobard, having his speed taken away is worse than not existing.

Taking away Thawne's speed makes him more crazy than ever and making hime hate Flash even more than ever which drives him crazy.

He gave himself speed the first time. He can figure it out. Plus, he lived without his speed for years... Let the dude have some grace (I mean the writers should)

When he did that, he was in the 22nd Century and had the right technology to do so. Here, he is lucky that he can (thanks to his notes to Nora West-Allen).

Also, the cliffhanger shown in Episode 4 leaves us thinking, what did Thawne do in the Time Vault when he said nobody defeats me with time!? 🤔

When things shoot up into the sky from Star Labs, things generally don't go well for some poor sap.
