A Barn Owl spent the night inside this Kestrel box when a Tawny Owl came out of nowhere and clashed with the innocent bird. There was quite a tussle for a few seconds, but this was not the only time the Tawny had visited this site and caused havoc.
A strange series of events happened inside this Kestrel box one evening between a Barn and Tawny Owl. The incident happened in South Yorkshire, UK where both species came together and clashed. The Barn Owl had been using this box during the Winter months to sleep in, but one evening a Tawny had other ideas. The Tawny had previously visited this box and scared a Kestrel away, and it returned once again. Both birds tussled for approximately 10 seconds before going their separate ways. No harm was caused, but this was certainly a significant event. There are several reasons why this may have happened; most likely, this was a territory battle.
