Barn Find follow up - what happened to the Lamborghini Espada V12? Will it run?
Remember Jonny's most popular barn find on this channel thus far? Indeed, what did happen next to the mysterious Espada found in a real remote Cumbrian stone barn? Well, it was a story of many twists, and turns and if you are a top-tier Late Brake Show Patreon, you’ll have read our follow-up piece and seen this video months ago.
Thanks for stopping by The Late Brake Show.
In this follow-up video Jonny attends the Espada’s sale auction and we see it find a new owner who cracked straight on with getting the car roadworthy again after more than 30 years. If you haven't watched the original video then go here first: • Barn find Lamborghini ...
This barn find has got to be the single-most emailed and DM’d feature we’ve ever done. From various people getting involved in who owns the cars, to people wanting to buy them, to people claiming to own them, but don’t… It was a crazy few weeks after this aired.

$6250 to do their research, promotion, maybe approach known buyers, handle the car on site, etc, etc. Compared to a Veyron oil change it's not that awful for the service rendered. If it were only eBay, sight unseen, no auction master's eye involved, yeah 25% would be steep.

This is because for some reason the owner decided to put the car up for sale in a low value auction, if he had put it in a car auction the commission would be much lower, around 15%.

Cheers for the comment Chris. Yes, I think the car will be on the road by the end of the year. Exciting to see it get another shot at life.
If I was the owner, I would start with a conversation with Iain Tyrell - even if I could not afford to go down the route of a full restoration in his shop, I would at least find out the key things to look for before recommissioning as his experience in putting bodges right on this particular model is probably 2nd to none in the UK

Yeah, but even getting him to look over it and give an opinion on what it needs isn't likely to be as straightforward as you'd think. Any successful classic specialist won't give you time of day if you just turn up with your car. I'd expect Tyrell would want it booked in for an evaluation when the workshop has availability which is likely to be weeks, if not months from now.
It passed it's mot in august, so it's running and back on the road. Well done Mike you took a chance and it's worked out.
That's a proper bargain, that was full risk value and sounds like it is in pretty good shape. Having bought a barn find that looked terrible after 30 years and then finding out it was basically new condition under all the rubbish, these risks are worth taking if they are already priced in like this.
Huge thanks to Michael for the video at the end - I am getting even more excited about the car and I probably won't ever see it in person! Seeing the lights work and hearing it turn over freely just gets the blood pumping. It's like you can feel the beast under the hood waiting to roar back to life.
Mr Smith, I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your videos. There is nothing on TV or on the inter web that comes close to delivering this level of informative and enjoyable content. Thank you!👍🏻
Thanks so much for letting us know what happened to the owl Espada, Rj in Oz
I didn't think I was ever going to get to see what happened to this car. What a treat. Stellar petrolhead content.

Many thanks John. We intend to do BFF (Barn Find Follow-ups) on our episodes where possible.
Wow, it's basically a steal for 31000 pounds... an ultra-rare Lambo for the price of a new Suzuki! It's really good to hear news about the car, and to see it went to a good owner. May he have much fun with it, and take care of this rare beauty for many more years! :)
This barn find vid was the one that made me discover your channel, nice to see a follow up.

Absolutely one of my favorites! I used to ride in my neighbors Espada when I was 9 years old! Great memories of that car!
I live in Cumbria and I was at a car show near Penrith in May. Ive only just stumbled across this video tonight at 11pm. At this car show was a white Lamborghini Espada! Same car, same owner! I’m glad it’s stayed in the local area and used (albeit with some patina) and not hidden in some climate controlled garage! Brilliant story!
25% commission ...wow that's insane. Great to see Barn Find follow-ups like this. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Saw this at Dalemain WMC Classic Car Show, was certainly running there as it was parked behind my car!
Genuinely don’t think there’s a better owner for this car. So pleased it’s staying in Cumbria, too!
Just imagine driving that on a sunny spring morning with some Led Zep in the background!! Perfect. Yeah baby yeah!!
I'll never complain about estate agents charging 1% commission ever again! 25% for doing what exactly! Good luck to the new owner, I hope he has a smooth ride with the engine. What a find.

Great video Jonny. The Lambo has found the perfect owner. Mike has definitely made the right decision to just get it back on the road and not pull it apart. Can't wait to see it run 😎👍
Wonderful story. So glad the new owner is going to enjoy it as is. Jonny should be proud of himself.
Thank you for the update. So nice to see the car has gone to an enthusiast and will live on. Keep up then good work Jonny and TLBS team.
This is just too cool! Many thanks & full appreciation to the new owner Mike, for being willing to share his experiences with the car. It is amazing that it is staying local to the area. I can’t wait for the next chapter when hopefully we’ll all hear it run.

Great update, amazing how much better she looks in the daylight after a clean! As others have said, it'd be nice to see other follow ups on the barn find series. Roll on part 3!
Awesome to see a follow up! Good luck with it Mike! It's gone to a good home, love the Toyotas next to it 👌👍
Can,t believe this was,nt offered at a specific classic car auction where it would probably have gone for more but well done the bloke who did get it! Surprised top Lambo specialist Iain Tyrell was,nt involved.
Thanks for bringing us the follow-up vid, Jonny! A great car, fabulous story and fitting outcome! Your enthusiasm for the subject really makes the story come alive!
Awesome that it went to someone who is going to enjoy it as a car. All too many vehicles like this get bought by folks just looking to make a buck.
I love a good story, beginning, middle and the finale. Well done Mr Smith.
well done to the new owner, I think he's made a very wise purchase here, this seems like an excellent starting point for a resto
Wow! The story continues! So glad to see the Lambo is going to live on, looked like a right shed in the barn but even after a wash you can see the potential! Can’t wait to see/hear it running & driving! Another scoop for The Late Brake Show!! Nice one Jonny, keep em coming!👍😊👏👏👏❤️

Great update Jonny, so nice to see a really great car find a new home with someone that truly loves it, also interesting to hear the tail of the plate, because I checked from the last vlog I saw and it didn't tally up, so now we know.
Very cool that you’ve done this follow up. Absolutely love TLBS channel.
If that had been in the USA it would have sold for far more. Glad to see it sold to someone who cared enough to be there on the day.
Just great to see it out of the barn and clearly going to someone who is going to care for it and is kind enough to bring us along on the journey. Thank you Michael. Take Care Stay Safe Everyone Regards Dave 👍😎🏴
Superb Jonny you should do more follow ups love seeing what happens to them. Great stuff keep up the good work 👍
I love the idea of getting it road worthy and running it as it is. The new owner is lucky it was entered into a general auction rather than a specialist classic car sale. He got a bargain!
Such a good episode (2 of 4 hopefully ) well done Jonny and team making this happen.
Thanks for the update on the Lamborghini Espada looking foward to more updates on this car
As much as I would love to see it restored , I quite like the idea of a "Hubnut lambo". Run as is. I believe Harry Metcalfes engine rebuild from Iain Tyrells was around the £40,000 mark which is terrifying. He could literally put in the next silverstone auction and make a handsome profit with better exposure. Cant wait to see the next part. Well done Jonny knocked it out of the park again sir .👍👍👏👏

Same. An unrestored exotic almost seems cooler than a restored one.
Looking forward to seeing the next step of this car’s journey on another episode 👌👌
I love this video. Amazing Jonny. Keep us posted.
Three things surprised me in this video. 1: why run this through a general auction rather than somewhere like Mathewsons. 2: 5% premium for online bids! 3: How well those carpets came up!
Perfect buyer....hopefully he gets its up and on the road....hopefully you get to revisit it.
So good to see follow up videos, it is an awesome thing to find these machines, and exciting to see where they go and that they are appreciated, used and cared for. Thank you. Ps, i may pay to at least have a chat with Tyrells, even if you can't afford to take it there, he knows stuff.
So glad that the new owner is happy to share his enjoyment of the car with us. It should be interesting to watch the developments as more of the history is discovered.
Sick. Sneaky c35 laurel and MK3 supra on the drive too. Someone's got great taste in cars.
Amazing car and great to get to follow it's resurection! Loving this!
Awesome too see the car stay local. Thanks for the follow up video.👍👍
Excellent the Espada has gone to a genuine enthusiast.
Wonderful to watch the next chapter!
The Espada has to be one of the best proper GT's of that era! A true pan European driver, with the luggage capacity to match! At that price Mike has himself a bargain. Thank for the update Jonny.
Brilliant! Look forward to seeing it back on the road
Great episode Jonny, looking forward to more of this amazing car.
Fantastic to see the car again. What a great guy the new owner is😊
This is great news. Looking forward to hearing this running.
Sounds like a top bloke that bought it, cannot wait for the next installment!
I just don't understand why the car didn't go up for auction at premium car auction, he would pay a lower commission and possibly sell the car for a much higher value. But I was happy with the owner that the car received, in one of those big auctions it would be bought by a collector and disappear.
What a bargain. Clean it up , fix the rust spots , mechanicals , and drive it.
Nice. Love a 'revisited' and so glad it went to a private buyer who's going to make it roadworthy and drive it, rather than a business looking to restore it and flip it for a profit. Looking forward to the next chapter!
Congratulations to the new owner. Best of luck with the refurbishment. What an item to find at a local auction house. Pleased you were able to follow up Johnny and looking forward to hearing more updates in the future.

thank you Johnny and to the LBS for the update on the Lambo. Congrats to the new owner. The end of the Vid I hoped for it to turn over. It now got me excited to see a PT.3 to it and see it on the road. Keep up the good work
Fantastic and can’t wait to see the next episode and it on the road 👍👍👍
Will be lovely revisiting this when its driving. Good idea getting it road worthy and enjoying it before restoration. Looks like it went to a good owner.
Living... Breathing... LOVE it!
Amazed this didn't go through a specialist classic auction where it could have made double the price. But happy for the local chap who bought it seems a decent bloke who will enjoy the resto & driving this classic.
Great stuff. He’s done well there.
Loved the video Jonny 👍.It will be great to witness the journey 🇦🇺.
