The TNT analyst Hall of Famer and Inside the NBA on air personality sat down on a podcast with former NFL star and ESPN analyst Shannon sharp where he spoke about James retiring soon he could still do one or two in his personal courts.
Barkley, known for his blunt opinions, suggested that LeBron should consider retiring soon to avoid a decline in performance that could tarnish his legacy. He cited his own experience and those of other great athletes like Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing, who struggled at the end of their careers. Barkley expressed concern that LeBron might continue playing to fulfill his dream of playing alongside his son, Bronny, in the NBA, despite declining performance and motivation.
LeBron, nearing 40, has not made significant contributions to the Lakers in recent seasons, and the team has struggled, finishing poorly in the standings and facing early playoff exits. The Lakers' poor performance and LeBron's diminishing impact raise questions about the team's future direction and LeBron's role.
Barkley emphasized that it’s better to retire while still playing well rather than becoming a shadow of one’s former self. He hopes LeBron will choose to retire on a high note rather than facing inevitable decline. Despite these concerns, LeBron may still aim for achievements like playing in the Olympics, where he could potentially end his career with a gold medal.

25 8 and 7 Team composition and coaching matters. Lebron is not the reason the lakers have lost. And he was just voted ALL NBA again for the 20th year in a row. If you still getting your career average and is All NBA.......why retire? Only one team wins each year.......not winning it all....is not a reason for a player to retire. Stop the slander.

LeBron has chosen all of his coaches and all the time is undefeated outside of the bubble. He hasn’t won a championship before Anthony Davis is there he failed. You can’t invest all that money into a 40 year old look at the teams that are in contention right now, they are all young, Denver is not going anywhere. Minnesota is on the rise. The Mavericks are on the rise the rise that type of money into a 40 year old basketball player injuries are gonna come and he is not going to be able to carry the load.
it will be a milestone and a history in NBA but it will eventually and surely backfire to Lebrons legacy...

Did Barkley lie why would you sign a 40 yr old to a 3 yr deal? The NBA is getting younger
Lebron is no doubt one of the all time greats. The greatest ever? No. Far from it. hHis finals record is horrid.
