😂 The funny thing is we like our dry euros where theme is...lacking? Haha! But looking at our collection, it looks like we like our space “theme” games. 😁

Pasted on themes work great for me. As long as it is abstract, colourfull, with the occasional dice. Like: the castles of Burgundy, Five Tribes, Grand Austria hotel, Noctiluca, Century Golem, Blue Lagoon

I like unique themes! There are those that make me think like CO2, tongue in cheek humor like Bargain Quest or QE, or nature like Wingspan.

I like the psychedelic fantasy art on something like dungeon degenerates or cosmic frog!

This game has a lot of charm, and is a family favorite. We usually play with 4-5 shop keepers and it scales really well. We have not used the sunken costs expansion, but we do really enjoy the black market expansion. I wish the box was a little bigger to fit the expansion cards. Thanks for bringing attention to this fun little game. I have no doubt it will hit the table sometime over the holidays. Merry Christmas!

I got this in a trade in... February... I have yet to play it. 😭 But I love Jonathon Ying. I've met him a few times and he's just really nice. His sister is an incredible artist who did most of the art in the game, but also posts just the most amazing stuff on Twitter.

Excited to play this one! Found a used complete game with expansions at the local book store! It’s an amazing art style. Have you tried it solo?

Love this game. But ships dont work well at 2. Ar two should be the advance variant with 4 heroes for 2 players but rules silent on how to adjust. I am guessing 2 ships of 6 cargo max.

This was one of the few board games I've ever played where I felt I had wasted my time :( I really actively disliked it :(

@@BeforeYouPlay I don't know why either! Like on paper its a neat idea. There's lots of cool content for the game. It just refused to click despite my trying so hard to like it! I know it has many fans though, so it's a good pick!

Everyone has their own preferences, and you are 100% entitled to not like a game, so I'm not at all saying this is the reason, but make sure you haven't missed something in the rules. I strongly disliked King of Tokyo the first few times I played it. A friend owned it and liked it, so I agreed to play it a few times even though I didn't enjoy it each time. Then I discovered we had missed an apparently tiny rule, and one we fixed that, I instantly appreciated it much more. What was that one rule? You know how you role three of a number, you get that many victory points? We did that. What we didn't do was the rule where every additional instance of that came number gets you one additional point. That's it. Tiny rule, seems inconsequential. It totally changed the balance of the game, and winning by victory became much much more viable. Prior, every game ended with last player standing. Tiny, but huge! Also, it could be the group you played with. Some games are better off the whole table buys in to the fiction and tells the story as it goes along, laughing at the events as they play out.

I've always felt like the game, The Bloody Inn, captures a similar feel, but to me it seems a lot more streamlined. The theme is completely different, but it's just as cool.
