This is the world premiere of Barchan (bar-kahn), my first ever piece composed for big band!
This was played by the Boise State University Jazz Orchestra at the Gene Harris Jazz Festival in April 2024.
Barchan is a termed for a crescent-shaped sand dune, blown by the wind thus curling each end of the dune in its direction
This piece was heavily inspired by a background of video game soundtracks, jazz fusion, heavy and prog rock, as well as percussion chamber music.
