I was disappointed by the second yellow, I think everyone will agree that that was a mistake. I think the VAR should be able to look into second yellow cards, I mean, why not, if the result is the same as a straight red? Apart from that mistake though, I am not as harsh about the referee, I think she may have had an off day but I didn't think she was that bad. But that one small mistake has such a big influence on the game. I can forgive the referee, but it would have been nice if the VAR could change it in the future.

Pretty interesting comment. I wonder if the people at UEFA and FIFA that are in charge of the development of the VAR constantly and collect situations to be analyzed thouroughly with the purpose of improving the use of the VAR.

Regarding the Red Card. DAZN feed showed on replay, the view of the incident from the referees angle(approx) and I'm not surprised a 2nd yellow was given. When you are on a yellow, you CANNOT do a one foot lunge near the foot or leg area of a player. It's simply asking for trouble. A damn shame as it's difficult enough to play against Barca with 11 players.

Based on what is explained here Aitana's foul on a Chelsea's player deserved a yellow card, but why then Bonmati wasn't cautioned? Why going so harsh on Chelsea and so linient on Barcelona?

Thanks for explaining why no one will ever give you a match to referee in any kind of competition.

You got the answer.

For such a match the referee was not the first choice, indeed...the positioning was miserable. The only failed decision by Hayes was perhaps not to substitute Buchanan after the first yellow card. Buchanan was already responsable for the 0:1 by deflection, so Hampton was defeated. In such a game of the best already one yellow card is dangerous.

Just before Buchanan got the first yellow card, BonMati fouled Macario on the back of Macario's calf . BonMati did not get a card even though she was not going for the ball. Buchanan fouled Paraluello in a similar fashion, while going for the ball. I thought that was not worthy of a yellow card. The second foul yes. If you step on someone's foot. I thought Chelsea's main issue was not having Myra Ramirez on the team. Barcelona could not defend Ramirez in the first game. As soon as they announced she was not with the team, I knew they were going to lose😢😢😢

Yeah I forgot to mention Bonmati's foul. To make things even worst, Aitana, before the game, talked about how "rough" Chelsea played...😶. Without Mayra I thought they would have it hard, but still with chances to beat Barça, but crossbar and poste we're there. 🙃

I'm sure Chelsea has won games because of favorable ref calls...its part of the game, as long as you have human refs, you will always have this controversy.
