Memory, All alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
Life was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

@@erfguuipo8084 while you are entitled to your opinion, you don’t know sh*t about music otherwise you wouldn’t make this ridiculous comparison. Whitney had a voice, yes, but she was a popsinger! Barbra has never been a popsinger nor will she ever be! Where Whitney went drama always followed accompanied with booze and drugs. Barbara outranks everyone including your beloved Whitney. She outranks them on sheer class, health and talent! Barbara never needed booze or drugs to get up and do her thing. While Babs is in a league of her very own, and a lot of the time also had been frightened about performing, Whitney grew up in the churchchoir and went on into the hard society that’s known as the so-called music business, where they made you or broke you, make you into a sex symbol all the while where they earn the big bucks and “leave you with pennies”. That never happened to Barbra because SHE had the right people around her!
I’m so great full I am 83 and have enjoyed all this wonderful music.....so many will never know.

Quelle voix, quel charisme, quelle interprétation, quelle artiste ! On se tait et on écoute.
Неподражаемая , роскошная Барбара Стрейзанд 👍 Брависимо !
This is vocal perfection. For pure voice and musicality, this is my favorite. No one can touch Barbra. For live performance, Betty Buckley’s Broadway performance stands alone for evoking the dignity, tragedy and emotion of the character. Two perfect performances.

I’ve no idea what you are talking about. Is this Goose a household name as Barbara was in the 70s and 80s? I doubt it. Does “bringing us back to this beautiful masterpiece” earn the Goose the affection of the general public? Bringing “us” back? You probably weren’t even born back then. It’s just typical of today’s… celebrities, having not the discipline to churn out their own ideas, that they want to grab the coat-tails of the great and the good, to try to haul them back down to their level. Sad, sad, sad, sad!

Midnight, not a sound from the pavement Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet And the wind begins to moan Memory, all alone in the moonlight I can dream of the old days Life was beautiful then I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again Every street lamp seems to beat A fatalistic warning Someone mutters and the street lamp sputters And soon it will be morning Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise I must think of a new life And I mustn't give in When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too And a new day will begin Burnt out ends of smoky days The stale, cold smell of morning A street lamp dies, another night is over Another day is dawning Touch me, it's so easy to leave me All alone with the memory Of my days in the sun If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is Look, a new day has begun

Yes, that's a good way of saying it. I never could put a finger on it. She lives whatever she is singing. But it's real, you know? It's not put on in a fake, dramatic way. (Even when she's performing in a movie.) That's why you can't take your eyes off her and your guts feel like they're being turned inside out. The word, "gifted", is so overused. But she truly was.

Andrew Lloyd Webber write this beautiful song for Elaine Page!
Many decades ago, I first heard Betty Buckley and Elaine Page sing this song. My immediate thought: I've got to hear Streisand sing this. It would take another decade or so before I would finally discover this recording. The wait was worth it.
Saw Barbra in person twice. Once in 1994 in Detroit the second in Chicago.. let me tell you people, she is something to see. If you ever get the chance to see her maybe not now cause she is 81 you should . She is worth every penny and then some.. she has been my Idol since I was about 15 or 16 when I first heard her sing "People". From that time on I was hooked..
Her voice is so sweet and powerfull that I get immediately emotional and touched. The melody lifts you up and it feels you fly out of this time and go back to the happines in the early days.
The story is that she did this in one take. I believe it. Simply fabulous.

A legend that no one can compare to! We love you Barbara
Perfection. When she sings the last line, "Look, a new day has begun" and she sings the word "begun" on a high note to end the song is simply magical. It just seamlessly blends in with the music and just sounds ethereal like another world. No other version that I could find on KZread, even the ones showing Broadway performances by Elaine Page or the new version by Jennifer Hudson does this. They end the note low. All amazing singers but this version by Barbara Streisand just takes it to the next level with that note.

mn ht she is the only one in history to pull that off , that high note is a pianissimo note , professional singers know that you basically need to be born with that talent because there is not academic technique to help you to achieve that so .. Barbra is the only pop singers that I know able to do this kind of feat You have searched on KZread and no one does it , are you going to tell me that all those other singers don’t want to finish this amazing song with note ? Of course yes .. can they ? Of course not !!!

@@MrLuis85698 Wow! I had no idea. No wonder the other singers don't do it because they can't do it! And no wonder why I love Barbara's version so much. Thanks so much for the info!

mn ht they say it is a technique, but I know there is not technique in the world to hit notes in pianissimo (the voice needs to float in the air ) the same applies for the whistle register ( only few like Mariah Carey ) can pull those whistle notes , but as hard as a whistle note is , the pianissimo notes are even way rarer .. very seldom you hear those notes , you know in the men side who can do that often effortlessly: Andrea Bocelli , his last note with Celine Dion is a male pianissimo, he is a tenor it sounds heavier but you can tell he is placing the sound as if the sound floats softly in the air “ and those high soft notes require a golden breath control to about breaking off
That drop is like 'The Way We Were' this song was meant for Ms. Streisand❤

Beautiful, ................................
No singer has better control or understanding of their instrument than Barbra Streisand. Truly unique among performers. I love all kinds of music and performers but I always come back to Ms. Streisand. What an amazing musical career, in range of styles of music, longevity, universal appeal; and that doesn't even touch on her film career. I hope she directs again. If you've never seen Yentl, put it on your "must" list. This was her directorial debut. It is executed with the same precision with which she sings. Simply amazing.

Yes! Please put every Barbra Streisand movie, song and show on your list. The Movie, Funny Girl and Barbra burst onto the film scene when I was barely ten. Ms. Streisand and I grew up together. I was a Funny Girl and my nose had character but I could not sing. On a Clear Day, she helped me see the Forever. Clearly, Ms Streisand was someone special in another life and was Himself the Brolin with her? When her Hubbell said, "It was never not complicated, Katie"...I understood The Way We Were. I hope Barbra and I have many more songs and years together. Thank you for the memories and songs of my past, present, and hopeful future.

@Andrew Ongais I appreciate the information but not the attitude. "Do your homework"?? Don't be a turd--that's your homework. Now that I know I've been listening to Lisa Fischer in the background for decades, I'll surely give her solo efforts a listen. Cheers.
The most beautiful voice ever ❤
I'm here after 8 years with a broken heart!
Nia DaCosta's "The Marvels" brought me here. Such a fun and unserious film that incorporates this song perfectly into what might be the funniest and wackiest sequence in the MCU. 🐈🥰😘👌

Magicznie, przepięknie. Niezrównana, wspaniała Barbara 👍❤
in reality i know that i can’t do it as well as my peers. i see them getting the rhythm and technique perfect and expressionful after a listen. my peers who can’t read and choose not to learn how to. i don’t know where i should go but none of that matter because i can’t do it well enough for myself either.
What ever Barbra does has a memory…we were so blessed to have her in our lives…her concerts and films will live forever❤
I love this song so much, it’s probably my favorite song of hers. Her voice is so so beautiful, amazing, and talented. She’s inspired so many singers. Happy 81st Birthday to one of the all-time greatest singers, Barbra Streisand! We love you forever! ❤❤🥳🎉🎊4/24/2023
