Interesting video. Eliphas Levi was the nearest Hebrew version of Alphonse Louis. His Baphomet drawing is quite sublime uniting the dark and light nature of man to full integration. The goat's head being the inverted pentagram and the upright pentagram is on his forehead and the entwining caduceus rises from his muladhara chakra. Was Accused by the Catholics and other future Christian groups that they secretly worshipped baphomet and would have you spit on a cross and step on a bible. Crowley played on this with one of his rituals. It is commonly done in some occult groups today. I've done it twice. Useful for shedding religious baggage. Templar stuff is a fun rabbit hole. 93s

Unless my recollection is completely blown, the date of the first day of the assault on the Templars by the forces of the Church was a Friday the 13th. One can speculate as to whether this is the reason why a Friday the 13th is considered to be inauspicious.

There is nothing remotely evil in Baphomet's iconography, I don't worship the figure, but something that represents balance being turned into something evil in the West is quite telling about our cultural psychosis. Time is the fire that consumes all things -- and all things being born from the nutrient dense ash of yesterday's world. Baphomet shows us that we are both the spider and the fly, the weaver and the web, the prisoner and the cage. Baphomet reminds us that being _truely alive_ isn't about being powerful OR being helpless, it's about learning how to be both...at the same time lol _-- because it's from that paradoxical wellspring or opposing forces that we find our "light"_

The earliest root origin of Baphomet I've found, is the Egyptian Banebdjedet. The prefix, the Ba represented the life force and the suffix referred to the djed pillar which symbolizes the spine and sometimes also the phallus or more general a foundation. There were both a feminine and masculine form of this concept. All these aspects are also present in Levi's Baphomet and built on further. The Egyptian version of the Baphomet was a ram, not a goat. Its transformation to the Goat of Mendes is, according to the Egyptian online website, due to a Greek translation error, which indicates that the Templars got it from an intermediary. In Egypt the worship of the Banebdjedet was part/synonymous of Osiris worship.

Nope, accusations of worshipping “Baphomet” come from European anti-Islamism. Baphomet is a corruption of the Occitan word “Bafometz” which itself is a corruption of the Andalusian Arabic مَحُمَّدْ‎, the name for the Prophet Muhammad. Sorry to burst your bubble!

👹😈Another excellent video--well done! I will always think of the "version" of Baphomet (which looked nothing like Levi's drawing!) from the computer game Darklands, which I played quite a lot in the early '90s ('92-'93 especially), which had a number of esoteric elements to it. But, in fighting the Templars (which was one of the only "main goals" in the game), one had to fight their Baphomet, understood as a sort of minor demon, as the final boss at each of their fortresses. It got weirder after that...!?!

1. The fact that a 13th century troubadur Austorc d'Aorlhac - among others - designates "Bafomet" (as well as Termagant) as the object of Muslim worship, makes a rather compelling case for it indeed being the corruption of "Mahomet". 2. The Satanic Temple's version of the hieroglyphic figure has more to do with its appropriation in the iconography of the "Taxil hoax" (as the objest of worship of the freemasons), than with the writings of Levi. That's one of the reasons why it is male rather than hermaphroditic, has the head of a goat rather than that of an ox, and so forth.

I was a hair disappointed with this video if I’m being honest. Despite the title, very little was mentioned about the Templars aside from some generics. Most of the video hung on Levi and modern interpretations, again when it was supposedly on Templars and their connection to Baphomet. While I understand mentioning Levi as an influence to modern understanding, think it would of been better to go into the source material and what we actually do know specific to the Templars and pre-Levi. Hopefully you’ll consider a part 2 in the future going more in that direction. Thanks

Even though the Freemasons have an order called The Knights Templars and The Knight Templar Priests, we cannot expect all the members to know the mysteries. The ceremonies can be assumed to be by speculation.

Angela have seen the 800BC image of Yahweh, found on pottery at Kuntillet Ajrud Sinai Peninsula. There's a astounding similarity in this image with that of Baphomet, only the wings are missing.

Great video. I’m of the mind that the word baphomet does not mean a particular entity but a concept of 👿. We use satan today as a general concept of 👹. The theosophists have also postulated that Lucifer is the light and knowledge bringer as opposed to an evil or fallen Angel. ❤❤❤

I would be interested in hearing your understanding of the 'fall of man' across mythologies and religions. The Baphomet to me, represents the duality, opposing forces harmonizing, not an entity in its own right to accredit any kind of worship to, I do not see a evil context to it, though it has been used in infernal fraternities, perhaps because of the goat/fallen angel aspect, but that to me is just the shadow self. Its difficult to see why some reject dualism in favour of monistic thought when its quite evident nature is such, its time we shed these dark-connotations associated with magic and started maturing, these were after all the once infallible science that has purposely been eroded by the media for centuries in favour of Atheistic thought and mountebankery to control nations.

Please be confirmed if the confessed of the Templar worshipping Baphomet is indeed in the Chinon parchment. As I was read the Chinon parchment myself, it's been state that they worshiped other idol but they didn't mention the name "Baphomet". It's scholarly interpretation of the confession about Templar's Baphomet worship. Meanwhile today Vatican Dr.Barbara Frale who is an Italian paleographer at the Vatican Secret Archives. Who also found an authentic copy of the Chinon Parchment, interpret that the templars are in vast pressure to confess to any setup questions by the inquisitor to got out of torturous. Anyway you can go search her name there're quite some documentary on the topic.
