    I like bank pool for not having the jump stick pulled out every other minute purely from bad cue ball speed control.

    Every other minute, at pro level? Wow, exaggerate much? I see whole matches, frequently, where a jump never shows up, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if you limit the matches to where one jump only was used, if it were close to 50%. I almost never see more than three, and that's in matches that often last close to an hour. Just sayin'.

    HOLY CRAP! If almost anyone was going to make a run like that it would be Jayson. Any Idea of the table specifications he did it on? Size and pockets, anyway. Congrats to Jayson. Just being able to keep your mind clear and focused through that long a run is a Superman level feat, I would think. Changing hands is NUTS! Makes you amphibious, according to funny Mr you know who.

    What is crazy to me is that Morra learned pool right handed first, he switched to primarily left handed playing after some posture issues i think? insane that he is playing banks at this level.

    Right handed people often play dual handed sports left handed. Hockey for instance thier right hand controls the stick, adversely the use a left handed stick. golf is often the same. Also baseball with a bat. With the right arm leading when batting left handed. So I can see how cue sports could be the same. I am left handed for writing, and eating, but I have been right handed in every activity or sport I've participated in. So I feel the opposite is correct as well.

    Double J is the most listenable commentator by far. Billy and Danny are good but sometimes they get annoying. Just saying. Then there's Earl to consider.

    I guessing you mean Earl's self commentary. I've never heard him from the booth in a match. I expect it would either be horrible, or great, and I KNOW it would be better if it were a tournament where he was doing well, as opposed to badly. Some of his bad beat interviews are beyond the pail. My head gets to shaking all by itself. Yeah, Jeremy is awesome. I've heard Frost commentate some one pocket, and the Thorpe/ Woodward team do one or two, every time excellent. I like Boyer and the hilarious guy with the British (Aussie?) accent that always gets some great, super applicable jabs in, and he's like Danny in that his in head pool encyclopedia is massive. Another favorite is Nick Varner, he always comes up with a few good ones, and has good analysis. One one pocket match one of the snooker players, I think Appleton asked for the rake, and Varner said "oh oh, that's never a good sign when a snooker player picks up a rest". Remember snooker is played on a 6 X 12 table. Another was "I'm ALWAYS nervous when my opponent is at the table". One in the comment section I really enjoyed was a guy going on and on about how Di Liberto shouldn't be allowed to commentate because he knows nothing about modern pool. I gave the guy a bit of grief, but the really funny part was an interview I heard just a couple of days later where Scott Frost said he's learned a tremendous amount about straight pool from Danny. Obviously, the commenter, who most likely can't run 10 balls in a row knew far more than Scott. Made me laugh. People can be so damned dumb.

    Don’t forget about Josh Roberts…..who for as little as he’s been in the booth at least in one pocket I think he’s a step above everyone else…and has a great speaking voice very easy to understand him. He explains things well and plainly. That’s my only thing I don’t like about Jeremy Jones he has a tendency to use very odd verbiage. But great none the less. Grady was always my favorite for what its worth

    Do you have to use only a single rail? There are a lot of convenient 3 rail diamond system shots that can be taken but I never see a player take a three rail bank.

  • @keebie2

    @keebie2

    Жыл бұрын

    Even with the Diamond system there’s plenty of feel and adjustment that takes place….so shooting the three is 3 times more error prone than a single rail shot. It’s easy to miss then leave the opponent easy 1 railers. If they played by the rail like we do in the poker style bank events you see more multi rail shots. Three railers aren’t that automatic to begin with for what it’s worth 4 rails is easier going short rail long short long back into the corner…the ball sort of gets close to the track from a wide range….the three rail shots are a lot more limited and come up shorter or longer as you adjust the angles and positions of the cb…there’s less run on the cb in a 3 railer so it really doesn’t open up till rail three. 2 railers check spin or run wide coming out of corners, and the z bank 2 railers are ver difficult for most players to get the hang of…they come off the second rail very diff between a Brunswick, a red label Diamond and a blue label…. End of the day it’s just easier to run a bunch of singles than to try and make multi rail banks.

    I think they try to make the ones in the positions in the rack that are typically made, mostly the apex and two wing balls. If you shoot to intentionally pocket only one the likelihood of making none goes up considerably. And none is REALLY bad, especially your opponent ends up in line with an 'easy' table (for them, not me). Also remember no caroms or combos allowed in banks so blocked holes become a LOT more of a problem. You can never use those advantageous 'close to the pocket' balls to increase the target area. All things considered, though, you are probably right about a more likely 'on' first shot. I'm guessing if you played this on a bar table it would be a VERY different game. I HATE bar tables, but just a thought.

    I was in my local hall the other day playing on a Brunswick with cloth that looked like it hadn't been changed this century. Bank aiming was so far off it was almost unplayable. Then I look to my right and their are FOUR brand new diamonds sitting there. I know which table I'm asking for next time! @@hunterfisherpokerpoolguy7502 Mark ALWAYS has the same lines though "stay down, follow through, pause at the rear" yada yada yada. You can really tell he is a instructor. I'm not knocking him, not at all, I learned a lot from him, it's just that after a while I didn't, but there is always the volume control so no reason to bitch. I often watch them muted anyway to work out patterns, etc. and really pay attention as to why they chose (almost always rightly) differently than I did. At some point, you can learn a lot more from that. If it happens for you there will be no missing that crossover reach for the mouse point, I can tell you that with confidence. On very rare occasions pros will go for a shot/pattern, and I say, no way, and point out the pitfall, and they have it happen, so I guess I am learning something, anyway. And much more frequently I choose patterns different to the commentators (volume on, obviously) and the pros pick my route. Occasionally the difference in choices is significant, not just a 50/50 one or the other, calling those 'wrong' means nothing. Even a blind squirrel uncovers a nut every once in a while. :-)
