Banks IDash Super Gauge, Installation, and Review on a 2.8 Duramax (Block8head Pod)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I will be walking you through the unboxing, installation, and review of my Banks Idash Super Gauge. The Banks Idash comes in a couple of different versions. Banks Power offers a Super Gauge that will simply log the min/max values and a Data Monster version that will log up to 100 different parameters at 10 samples per second with no time limit. The Idash is also available for standalone ECU's in both the Super Gauge and Data Monster versions for racing applications.
I installed the Banks Idash Super Gauge in my 2.8 Duramax Colorado. This one gauge gives me the ability to read and clear check engine lights and read data from any sensor in my vehicle. The Idash will also use the data from your vehicle's sensors to create additional data like manifold air density for example. Finally the Idash also gives me the ability to force a DPF regen when I want to and not when the truck decides it should.

The guy's name is Ben. You have to send him a FB message to get pricing. You will then send him a Paypal for the amount he quoted to the email address he gives you. I hope your pod comes quicker than mine. He originally quoted 3-5 weeks for delivery. I know that he has people that have been waiting over 6 months for one of his pods. If you do not keep on top of him he will forget about you. Don't harass him but you need to keep in touch to get one of his pods. If it takes a while to get your pod, don't say I didn't warn you...

Thank you for the honest review. Sorry about the delayed release of the Derringer tuner for the 2.8. The reason for the delay is that in order command the horsepower that we want, FRP and MAP aren't enough. We have to add timing and adjust injector pulsewidth. Both of these features take a lot of time to develop... more time than it took to get your Block8Head pod. Haha.

@@RepairGeek thanks for all your vids on Colorado's. Had mine for a little over a month and your vids have been a great source of information for me. Just ordered a Banks idash, seen them for a while and wanted one on previous trucks. Sure enough when googling about it for a Colorado you have a vid for it and helped sell me on it!

Like you mention, high and low warnings are a must! I also have a 6.6L Duramax (2009 3500HD Dually) which I haul a truck camper with. Yesterday I was driving across WA state in 90+ ambient temps. The ECT and EGTs were running high, when the alarms go off at my "high" set points, I back off the throttle. On that truck I use the Edge Insight CTS2.

Exactly most trucks have those warnings built in but the thresholds are way too high. My Colorado will pop a transmission temperature warning at 260 degrees. If you ever got it that hot the damage has been done already.

I've had the iDash since April when I bought my 2.8 Colorado. I want that gauge pod too, but the seller is impossible to get in touch with to order it, plus his website doesn't give any info on ordering it for a Colorado/Canyon. I've read other people having the same experience as you had - they contact him, he says "it's shipping tomorrow" but never shows up until weeks later.

Yes the sending unit has a max reading of about 48%. That is why the dash says DEF level "OK". Once it drops below about 45% you can see the actual reading.
