Bangladeshi Street Food - KING of FUCHKA and CHOTPOTI!! Amazing Bangladesh Food!

KUSHTIA, BANGLADESH - Tonight we are continuing on our street food tour in Kushtia, at night when so many different street foods come alive. We’ll go to eat two of the greatest of all Bangladeshi street foods - fuchka and chotputi.
So we headed out in the evening and chotputi. Chotputi is a huge mix of chickpeas and potato, a mix of spices and green chilies, tamarind dressing, and crunchy puri shells, all mixed with shredded egg and extra chilies. It’s hearty, it’s extremely tasty, and it’s one of the best street food snacks in Bangladesh. Chotpoti - 50 Taka ($0.58)
Next we headed down the street to eat fuchka, which is similar to pani puri or golgappa, but the Bangladeshi version. And pani puri is typically served with water on the inside one by one, but fuchka is served with the tamarind water and juices on the side so you do it yourself. It’s one of the world’s greatest street foods. So good, an unbelievable amount of flavor. Fuchka - 50 Taka ($0.58)
Haleem is another classic dish available across the Indian subcontinent. The Bangladeshi version here in Kushtia was fantastic - loaded with spic and green chili. We continued this Bangladeshi street food tour in the center of the city, eating some pakoras made with stink vine leaves - they are very well known to have a seriously stinky aroma, but a delicious taste when cooked. The pakoras were amazing.
Another fantastic night of eating street food in Bangladesh!

Fuchka and Chotpoti are the most popular street foods of Bangladesh. It's exactly as how Mark had explained - hearty, spicy, touches all your tastebuds at the same time and an all-in-one meal as well. Fuchka is just pure love for us. ❤️ The pani puris I had the chance to have at Indian shops in Singapore and Malaysia, were nothing like the Fuchka we have in Bangladesh, not even close. They just have a similar concept but vastly different tastewise.

You can opt out to not have it spiced but Mark and the other fella wanted it that way so the shop keepers provided what his customers wanted. I’m American and I tried the food in Bangladesh and I have to admit their level of spice flavours hits home differently compared to my other travels in India, Pakistan and Nepal. There is a uniqueness in their style of cooking and it very tasty and addictive. Spice flavours in India and Pakistan are subtle, it’s good but not on the same flavoursome level in my opinion and Nepal is good but again not on the same level.

We do have something similar to that called Ghugni, which can be found across all the train stations in West Bengal, but normally the egg and spiced potatoes are not added. Also, Bangladeshi phuchka is on a league on its own, the egg makes it distinctly different from what we have here in Kolkata, and I'm certain that it's a tasty dish, as eggs make everything better. 😊

Pro Tip for travellers As you can see at 7:35, there are two types of Tamarind Water (Tok) available for both fuchka and chotpoti...One of them is Sweet and Sour (Mishti Tok) the other is Sour and Hot (Jhal Tok) The true taste of these dishes lies in the Toks you are having with them so the first time you are trying them try getting them in both these variants of Toks and see for yourself what you like more. I personally am a sucker for the Sweet Tok..😋
