    Thank you dear Azadmator for remembering GM Zia who left us very early. I played against him in a banter chesss in 1993 and had been trounced brutally. The memory is still vivid. Praying for the salvation of his departed soul.

    GM Zia was the greatest chess player of Bangladesh. Even as a Bangladeshi, I didn't know that he defeated Nigel Short. We mourn for him.

    Poker has it's dead man's hand, I suppose chess could have a dead man's position, but a number of people died while playing chess. 50 years is too young! I am 59, such news makes me feel more mortal than usual. Try to enjoy each day, you have, that's for sure. A nice tribute I think, to cover a game from this GM.

    Very few GM's are there in Bangladesh, We are not that strong internationally also the root level Championships speaks the same, but among them Ziaur Rahman and Niaz Murshed were the brightest stars that shine through chess in our country.     Once I witnessed a game of GM Zia. His opponent reached after 45 minutes. But GM Zia urged the host not to deduct time from opponent and initiate the game from beginning.

    They say that Capablanca died while kibbitzing a skittles match. I had no idea what that even meant until I looked it up, but he basically died while watching and analyzing a game during a chess tournament.

    I was playing a tournament once and I was playing an important game I felt like my heart was going to stop chess can cause a heart attack sometimes and so many people died while playing a chess game

    Charles Dickens died while working on his final novel "The Mystery of Edwin Drood". Many decades later, David Madden completed the novel. I wonder if Mr. Rahman's game will ever be completed by anyone? #suggestion How about a one-off tournament where top Bangladeshi players try to finish the game in a double round robin, once with White and once with Black.
