Bangladesh: Living in the Sundarbans | SLICE

The Sundarbans mangrove is an immense coastal forest located in the bay of Bengal. The ecosystem of the Sundarbans is very rich and diverse, but it is threatened because of human activities. The population living there is working to protect the mangrove forest and to live in harmony with their environment. They also have to live along with the biggest predator of the mangrove: the Bengali tiger.

We had another oldest mangrove forest named "Chokoria Sundarban" in east south part of Bangladesch. It had been completely destroyed by Shrimp cultivation by farmers with subsidiary of World Bank

Great doco and thank you. I'm currently reading " _Gun Island_ " by Amitav Ghosh, set in the Sundarbans and highlighting the perils that the locals are facing, especially in relation to the rapidly changing environment. Ghosh is a wonderful storyteller and I recommend his book to anyone interested in the Sundarbans, life in India and the forces of change we are all facing. Cheers from Sydney - Dave

We need to focus more on healing the land and waters, and less on procreating and industrialization..Seems that for every initiative to achieve that goal, there are triple that amount springing up to undo it..😔
