Very poor urban planning. Not even any breeze at night when the air supposed to be cooler. All the buildings around Dhaka simply don't allow much ventilation or air flow. Using of concrete without proper planning will cause more heat and flood. Hope the leaders of the nation consider it as climate emergency and take solid action for climate adaptation immediately.

Edward Hew, I was born and raised in Dhaka and I can finally admit the fact : I just HATE living in apartment buildings ! I still don’t understand why people here are so obsessed with apartment buildings, even when the urban planning itself is pretty poor to begin with. It’ll still take more time for our leaders to understand this issue. As long as the outside world won’t put our leaders under international pressure, urban planning here will never come to an improvement like it’s supposed to.

With these high population numbers of the earth.. I doubt the planet will sustain us that long before, until resources start running out, like water, food, crops, everything will dry up and die, just like us. Nature and evolution will take its course and create a better animal or creature to replace us.

Do people in Dhaka knows what cause heatwave? Do people in Dhaka know Dhaka is a heat trap? What is a heat trap ? Heat trap is where heat gets in and but heat does not go out easily. During daytime , heat gets in from the sun. Everything in the enviroment absorb this heat including buildings, roads , airs, water. Now , by night these significant amount of these consumed heat should have been passed underground or went above the air. But sadly, in Dhaka , the amount of buildings, roads, cars , even the new building materials are not heat friendly. The ground is no longer absorbing the heat and the pollution in the air is blocking the heat inside than going up . On top , the surrounding water bodies producing vapor, is making the air more humid and unbearable. Dhaka heat is not dry heat like deserts, it is moist heat like boiling steam.
