    The engineering that Bandai put into this model as far as getting light to all the areas is really remarkable. They spent a lot of time designing it.

    Will be getting to the Millennium Falcon in the near future but that kit also has parts to hold the leds in place for the lighted areas. Even though I'm more of a Trek fan all my life, these Bandai kits are just so nice to work with. The fit, no seams to fill, and no modifications needed. The only 2 Star Trek kits from Polar Lights that come close are the 350th scale TOS Enterprise and Klingon K'tinga. They were designed really well but their light kits weren't. I could see why this kit is a little on the expensive side. Your paying for quality and you definitely get that.

    Just received mine today. Wasn't suppose to get it till Next Tuesday. FedEx must have used a jet. Anyway despite the small size, it was well worth the price for all the detail in the parts that I don't even think the high price resin kits can match. I bought the unlimited version as we do our own lighting anyway. I am simply in awe at all the detail. I would actually consider this a perfect grade kit and I also feel that this will be Bandai's biggest Star Destroyer kit. On the side of the box they describe it as "A massive model that pursues the overwhelming presence portrayed in the series through its details with an astounding amount of information". Thanks for doing your good review showing the parts in the video. You and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    I finally went ahead and ordered this one from BIGBADTOYSTORE. Was kind of hesitant because of the size, being I did the Revell build and play with all the lighting, but seeing all the detail on this one especially in the side trenches makes it worth it. Thanks for showing the parts so well. Also the fact that all the holes are molded in is a big plus. Was kicking around getting the larger Revell/Zvezda one but having to drill all those holes and fiber optics again wasn't an entertaining thought. Besides with all my big 350th scale Star Trek models I don't have much space for too many large kits. I just got the standard version of this it only ran a total of 85 bucks with tax & shipping as they charge a 4 dollar flat rate shipping no matter what or how much you order.

This along with my 1/144th scale Force Awakens Millennium Falcon will be my winter builds, although it is winter here now as we got 6 inches of snow on Halloween and about the same Monday along with below zero temps. Normally November by us is in the 40s and 50s. We have January weather in November.

    They still haven't done an Imperial 1 Class Star Destroyer model kit, have they? It's always the Avenger/Class 2 Star Destroyer from The Empire Strikes Back! I mentioned this before but the Revell kit was dubbed "from Rogue One" but Vader's flagship from that film AND A New Hope was a Class 1 Star Destroyer named The Devastator. Again, the Revell kit was also a Class 2 Star Destroyer! There are differences. Obviously, the model companies are being run by bean counters and the guys who should know the differences aren't speaking up or just don't have the power.

    Agreed but then it would cost 200+$ (especially knowing that bandai's 1/72 millennium falcon costs 300$ and is huge). Knowing how popular the ISD Is and was highly asked for, they wouldn't be able to sell as many especially to those who wouldn't have that extra money. But once they release more star wars kits they will most likely make/release a bigger scale star destroyer, that way people would be able to get this 1/5000 scale at least if they wouldn't afford a bigger and expensive one.

  • @JimPaulJr

    @JimPaulJr

    4 жыл бұрын

    I really don't think one a little larger would cost any more over 100 dollars. You have to remember that the large Millennium Falcon that costs so much is a perfect grade. This Star Destroyer is not a perfect grade model. The only thing this has going for its small size is having all the holes pre-drilled. All of the feedback that I have been getting from everyone is everyone is disappointed in the small scale, as well as some other details that Bandai has left out.

    @@JimPaulJr yeah you're kinda right, maybe they're just concerned about making all of there models to big based on storage and displaying. Or maybe some other factors that I'm not aware of, I'm sure they are aware that people would see it as small before it was released and didn't make it small to be mean but I'm sure that they will most likely release a bigger scale in the future that way people have the choice to get the small, medium or large scale ISD just like what they do with the starfighters, it kinda makes sense. Either way I'd love for them to release a mon calamari liberty or home one cruiser to this scale that way I can make a decent sized diorama space battle

    Don't hold your breath. When Bandai first announced this over a year ago, the video had a Star Destroyer in it that was much larger, closer to 2 feet long, and that's what everyone was expecting. It wasn't even a Ban-Dai model in the video just a large display model they had used in the video. It's the same withe Polar Lights and their new Star Trek Discovery ships. I am a huge Star Trek fan and not so much a fan of Star Wars, but have no interest in Star Trek Discovery as it is degrading to the Star Trek franchise. Anyway, Polar Lights did the models in 1/2500 scale which other than the Discovery at close to 12 inches long, the Shenzou and Enterprise are only a few inches long. They showed photos when they did these kits and showed that they were also going to do them in the larger 1000th scale but that idea had been trashed, as Polar Lights does that with a lot of their kits. In the case of the Star Destroyer, if you want a larger one you can go with the Revell/Zvezda one in which the Revell brand was only done in a limited run and is out of production now. You can still get the Zvezda kit from Russia which is the same kit as the Revell kit. These are 2 feet long and quite impressive and detailed. On the other hand you can go with the 1/4000th scale Revell build and play Star destroyer which is 16 inches long and is a carbon copy of the larger Revell/Zvezda kit but only costs around 30 dollars. If you go over to my channel, you can see what I did with this model. I did a entire build series on it and I will put it up against the new Bandai kit any day. When you see it you would never know that it is the same model that came out of the box and started out as a kids play toy. You will have to go back away as I built it a little over a year and a half ago. I would have built the large one, but with all of my big 350th scale Star Trek models and other large sci-fi models, I just don't have the space to build too many large scale models. At 16 inches long the Revell Star Destroyer is still a very nice size display. Hope you can go over and check it out along with my Death Star Attack diorama I recently did.

    Better detail than the Zvezda kit but like the Death Star models it feels too small... You can still do nice things with these but it feels -- I dunno, off? This is one of those ship models where it seems like it has to be at least 3-ft long to give you an idea of size and menace but realistically they'll probably never do a model longer than 24-27 inches because of, you know, the market! I think the modeling companies are playing it safe now. They're doing smaller kits because of the soft economy. A recession around the corner isn't helping things, either. They know the collecting market is soft for sci-fi now... (Well, if Hollywood was making BETTER TV shows and movies now the existing fanbase wouldn't be so discouraged and revolting against the situation by NOT buying EVERYTHING thrown at the fans for scraps and they might actually be attracting new generations of fans, too!) Yeah, I was told by a "expert modeler" that I was full of it and that the market is great for Star Trek, too! Pfffttt! Some people just don't want to acknowledge reality. Things have NEVER been worse for Star Wars and Star Trek than they are now. On the other hand, if you WANT to collect people's cast-off collections and plenty of things in-store that AREN'T selling, it's a great time to be a fan!!!! LOL (((((((((((((((((((( Skipped ahead to see you compare this to your earlier Revell build. From the top and side, you really don't see a HUGE difference here, do you? It's sport to slag off on Revell and praise Bandai all day (even though the Bandai kits have their share of issues = higher cost for less plastic, fragile plastic pieces that break easily) but the Revell doesn't come off too badly here. You did a nice job of sprucing the Revell model up and giving it more character but it didn't have a bad base to build off from after all, did it? Well, your "fleet" grows! The models look good together, side by side, and with the difference in scales you don't have to pose them across the room from each other to make it look like they're cruising in formation. They have literal built-in forced perspective!
