For me it is the only rock group that rekindles the flame of rock from the 70s/80s and which can be put on a par with the most famous rock groups that we loved so much from those decades. They have the musical and vocal talent and the charisma to demonstrate in their show a level of performance worthy of their predecessors. Thank you man, I'm a relic too.

Just because I didn't see it mentioned in the comments posted yet, I'll toss in the live mv (no crowd. It's from a covid concert serving) for the two-fer of "Manners" and "Black Hole". These songs will show you more colors in the spectrum of sounds that The Maids paint with. It's basically AMAZEBALLS, but pick whatever you want, cuz there is no wrong choice. Thanks Uncle Scotty! 🕊

Nothing wrong with accessibility. They have incorporated jazz, funk, pop, punk and metal elements into something unique. In the old days I saw Purple, Sabbath, Queen, Pat Benatar, Santana and many others at the height of their careers. I've seen Band-maid three times, and I'd put those concerts right up there with all those bands. They just blow the roof off every time. Thanks for coming back to them. Another from this concert just dropped, and it's even better: "Hate", live at Yokohama.

Yes, LB gang was on the A section rail along the 2nd level circuit walkway ( they really never stood up. I think they didn't want to draw any attention to themselves even with Midori's golden locks). We were on the C section rail in front of Miku but 1/2 block back. At first, I thought we were far away but had no viewing obstructions, and then Miku (later, Saiki and Misa) walked right by us, so close we could touch the Hato's feather, Po! Akane, the drummer, has her work overshadowed a bit by the superb duel/call & response between Kanami and MISA but it's always the scaffold on which everything else hangs. They released another fine display of call and response a few days ago too, from this same gig, 'HATE?'.

@@billb.5183I totally agree, but I don't think that will happen so much. There are tons of drummers that never even smile. btw...She will be 15 in Oct. It comes natural for those girls. I hope she does, but the following is my opinion. I don't want to speak for her. Not really in her personality. She says she struggles to smile, although you and I know she can do it without trying at times. The hardest part is convincing her she "needs" to do it. I get the feeling it embarrasses her a bit in public, although she does it at home for her covers and on live streams. We talk about stuff like this on her monthly Zoom calls. At this time, I believe she thinks her skills are enough to get her by. She's hyper focused on perfect execution. I have mentioned things like this to her. Doesn't appear to take it seriously. That being said, a little over a year ago, she said she didn't know how to play jazz, and you know that she's been killing that lately. When she was in Las Vegas, during our conversation, I mentioned nicknames and that one of her nicknames was "The Human Metronome". Her response was "Oh yeah, my timing isn't very good." And we all know it's as near to perfect as you can get. So on the brighter side, some of the things I've mentioned she should continue to do, like doing the stick wave, as being a part of her trade mark, she has listened to. I get the feeling she has an initial response, takes it all in, and thinks about it, then at some later time you see her just doing it. Nandi has too much showmanship, I wish YOYOKA could take some of hers...lol

Good point about the accessibility of their songs. To me it is a function of the vocals being very melodic, just like in the good old days! The music itself is often much harder than you think. The vocal melody softens the hard music. The hard music keeps the vocals from being saccharine. There are some instrumental only videos of their songs floating around on the net, if you want to hear what I mean.

They played 33 songs that night and they played the last song with the same energy as they did the first. If the next song you're checking out from them isn't "Hate?" from this concert, then it absolutely should be. It's their latest release on their channel. Saiki is a fantastic presence in front of a fantastic band, no doubt about that. Here are some suggestions: *"Hate?"* from this same concert. It's just been released and Saiki is _venomous_ in it (plus _other_ reasons). Next, try the covid-era live stream two-fer *"Manners"/"Black Hole."* Those two songs are very different from each other and Saiki delivers an intensity that's hard to fathom (considering she's getting absolutely _no_ feedback from an audience). Finally, a power ballad *"Daydreaming"* because Saiki gives yet another emotional performance with a different emotion from the others. But pick what you want because they are so consistently good you really can't miss.

Before joining the band, she wanted to be a pop singer, so I think Kanami (lead guitarist/composer) tends to throw that element into every song. Here is my understanding of each member's musical background; Saiki: Pop/R&B Kanami: Classical music Akane: Rock Misa: Rock/Funk Miku: Pigeon🕊️ Because of this, their music cannot be categorised into one genre and always sounds interesting.
