I knew he was a legendary guitar player but, had no idea he was still alive and fighting this disease. It breaks my heart to see him like this but then at the same time, it gives me so much strength seeing him survive all this and still going. Inspirational man!

Just think: Besides not being able to move, he also can never eat or drink again for the rest of his life because he can't swallow. If he drinks or eats he could choke to death, he also can't breathe through his nose so he can never smell. His food gets pumped into his stomach through a tube in his side and his air gets pumped into his lungs through his throat. My cousin died of this. He was diagnosed and died in the span of 2 years, it was absolutely the worst nightmare you could possibly imagine. You basically turn into a brain with eyes.

Jason, you have always been my inspiration,I started playing guitar and music when I was just 9 yrs old. Some many years back, now I'm 40 and ever time I start getting frustrated with things or a new song or even life, I think about you and it gives me more strength to forge ahead. I can't speak for everyone, but you are an inspiration to me..... :-))

Jason Becker, even when he was first starting out, was already better than 99% of the guitar players on the planet, and he was still so young! I can't even imagine how good he would have been in 2012. He'd probably be so good now he'd just have to look at a guitar and it would just spontaneously combust right there on the spot! The man is a figher, and his Collection album was fantastic!

Fuck how much this humble guy missed out on. Being at the doorstep of ruling the guitarworld and having it all taken away. I know a few other examples of similar situations. Being unaware of Jasons case I found myself crying at times during the movie. A beautiful family and this totally ads up to my opinion that life in the world we live in at 2013 has a lot more to offer than ranting on internet and working to make money to consume. Jason your whole life is the inspiration. Big hug ;)

Hello, I'm a french writer and I discovered Jason Becker in 2009. I discovered ALS at the same time and then I planed to write about him and this awful desease. Then something totaly weird happened. In 2011, my mum got the first symptoms of this ALS and I knew from the very beginning how it was and what she will have to endure... She passed away last january and now, more than ever I want to talk about this desease. And as you said, tell the people to enjoy every single they can do...

Couple things on his translator: She has been doing it for years and knows his thought patterns well. However, she does guess a lot trying to finish words and sentences for him because is a tedious and time consuming process to converse at length with Jason. I cut out a lot of Jason spelling his words and cut in the audio of his translator quicker than normal to keep the viewers attention. Jason's skills and ability to adapt his communication is totally amazing but also very heart braking!
