I think Sylvie is an Afghan Hound actually and Dixie is just a Pom (I don't think the Pomsky was bred into existence yet when this movie came out)

@@widget5718 Dixie doesn't have to be a "pomsky" but I'll only accept that she's cross breed with either husky, American Eskimo, Samoyed or any other heavy coated breeds. She's too comfortable in this antarctic weather and conditions and Pomeranians don't have the ideal coats. Her coat looks heavy and insulated up until it puffs out like a puffer fish when she's elated about something. Somethings off about Sylvie as an afgan hound. She could be a cross breed of one. She's got a droopy heavy mop coat like they didn't know how to design it loose and silky, it's like the cost is all gravity and has all this ridiculous wind resistant and her snout is rounded and broader. She doesn't look or feel anything like rida from Oliver and company where her nose is pointy and her coat was flouncy, loose and bouncy. It'd be funny if Sylvie had an identity crisis and thinks she's a superior and lush, high maintenance Afghan hound but it's just her stuck up superiority complex cause she's not exactly the breed for the kinds of dog shows this community is invested in.

​Sylvie is canonically an afghan hound and is referred to as such/noted as an example of afghan hounds in media. Not only is her color a textbook coat, her ears and coat are far too long for a saluki. afghan hounds originate from the mountains of Afghanistan, and are suited to cold temperatures (hence being in the movie). Salukis originate from Egypt and are NOT suited for cold temperatures whatsoever. Sylvie may look "off" due to art style or a myriad of things, but they have enough caricature features of the breeds to tell.

@@WillianyAmillaren’t poms double coated? They’re part of the Spitz breeds with Huskies, Akitas, and American Eskimo Dogs, all double coated. If so, cold weather wouldn’t bother them too much since they’re double coated like the huskies. Edit: according to wiki, she’s a pom.

Going to have to disagree. They may be minor characters who dont take part in the main plot but minor characters make stories feel more alive. Also Jenna not denying her interest in Balto to them is endearing.
