I think they intentionally tried to make her sound like the ideal mother. Kind, gentle, calm in most situations, stern when she needs to be, and always putting her kid first. Which is what makes her death so much sadder.

it's too idealized. the old american dream that was put in most old disney movies. and it's a bit sicknening if you think about it more. I am at least glad they kept it realistic with bambi and the males are "kind of "looking like females as well and not like the other movies buff males with ruffian fur and the delicate thin females . bambi's father was realistically written and his death would be sad. bambi's mother not so much.

@@glasperle77 You're looking too deep into this. They made her motherly so her death would hurt. They made Mufasa fatherly so his death would hurt. Sure they used the typical traits of said parents, Bambi's mom was soft spoken, kind, caring, "feminine traits", Mufasa was wise, stern and strong, "masculine traits". But tell me, if they weren't these things would you have cared when they died? Because those traits are what made them likeable, and made audience members for that brief moment even see these characters as potential parent figures. Countless people cried at Mufasa cause they said it was like they lost a dad. Stop trying to sour this with a modern view. It's called story telling. They were portrayed as parents. That isn't sexist.

Throughout the movie, she is the one that constantly teaches or takes care of Bambi or stops him from making reckless decisions. She does everything without anyone's help and Bambi listens to her.

We took her to the vet but it wasn't broken and had anything. Took a long time to heal, but she never approached her mom again. Might be cause she was pregnant, so were focused on the new kittens coming, but also cause she was already kind of big.

No one else loved him so sincerely, no one had a voice like hers, which told him about all the wonders of the world. No one will press him to their side anymore because they truly love him, and not because they have to by order of the king.

This came out right in the middle of America joining WWII. Sometimes I wonder what children were thinking about in the theaters while their dads were out fighting and all they had was their mothers. Sometimes I think about the possibility of parents or schools using this film to teach kids the dangers of violence. The idea that this film may be how boys and girls learned to know when it was safe to come out of the bunker. It's a bizarre thought, but it sticks with me.

The terrible idea that stuck with me was that Bambi's mom most likely did not die from the shot itself. Considering what kind of bullet is used for deer (just the big single one, no hail) and she was shot while fleeing, the chance of an instant kill was very minimal (deer are supposed to be shot in 'standstill', never on the run). She instead got injured and prob saw Bambi fleeing the scene, getting an instance of relief. Only to be collected and finished off by the hunter later on.

Now that you mentioned it, she could have been on a brief death run, but we couldn’t see due to the movie being on Bambi’s POV, so we don’t get to see if she was following behind still, but farther away. She could have collapsed due to the pain or location of her injury and maybe bled to death or something. I’m just guessing at this point.

I think it’s the way they were presented or the fact that it’s not shown made the impact harder. The search for Bambi’s mother, the implications of The Great Prince’s statement, Bambi’s tear. With Mufasa, we already know that he’s dead from the get go the moment he fell into the stampede. But with Bambi’s mother, the feeling and dread sinks in like a slower burn that hits deeper.

I feel that the movie focuses more on the story while the the first has music that co-exists with the scenes rather than just background music, and I like that duality.

Sort off topic regarding this video but. Everyone seems to say that the death from the first movie messed up a bunch of kids. I can see why it's so heart crushing but really? That bad to make such a big deal out of. If anything I feel like the man's "voice stick" from the sequel was a far more unsettling concept given how it was a deer call shown from the perspective of a faun. A noise that toyed with a baby deer's feelings in order to get it out in the open to be an easy target. No joke, a chill ran down my spine when this video ended with the words "I'm here".

Funny story. Before I watched this movie I remembered I saw a image of bambis mother on the internet. It showed her bleeding to death. 7 year old me thought it was a real scene from the movie. When I was 9 I finally watched the movie. And when bambis mother got shot. I was expecting the image I founded on the internet to appear. It never came. I was so confused to the point I started to lose interest. Honestly this movie made me more confused than scared. Btw I am shocked bambi is a male.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-7 “For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.” 1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree; so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
