    It would be great to see the anchor set-up, because on the Baltic Yachts website, the anchor drops down from a spade shaped cavity in the haul, but it’s just a photo. Curious if there could be issues with the chain damaging the haul while at anchor during high winds, causing the chain to heavily force up against the cavity opening? Was a little let down with the size of the galley.

  • @alamos8

    @alamos8

    In fact it is only one single 9 m wing, that slides from one side to the other through a special always-flooded box that runs right beneath master cabin floor. When retracted, as it has the same length than the boat is wide, it it almost fully enclosed inside the ship, only protrudes very slighly on both sides on the hull, but no more than the ship is wide, so it is safe. To be used, the wing is deployed always leeward side, once certain speed condition is met so that the benefits surpass the extra drag. I think this is when boat speed exceeds 11 knots or so.

    @@whynot1because2 Generator must be used about 6 hours a day to use all the onboard commodities when at anchor or without shore power in a marina. It has Li-Ion batteries. When sailing, the propeller can be used to generate energy, more energy with more speed. To be 100% self-sustainable, 20 knots of wind are needed. With less wind, you will not be 100% self-sustainable, but it will keep being a great aid and greatly reduce generator usage, at the expense of between 0.5-1 knot of boat speed. About fuel capacity, I read in a web it is 12400 litres, remember this is a long range yatch, thought for round-the-world like of usage

    Where is that big tender stored? In the Baltic yatchs webpage, you can see the plans of this yatch, and they show a tender stored transversely in a tender garage at stern, but given the yatch has a beam of 9 m, it seems in that picture that the tender is about 4.50 m or so, no more. But this is a big 7 m tender... It is stored on the forward cargo space? It didn't seem to me to have enough depth, but, if it is stored here, does this mean the yatch has two tenders? A big one in front of the mast and a smaller one on a rear tender garage?

    Si ma in questo servizio si parla molto "barchese" con termini anglofoni altisonanti.. senza però dire molto! Ma insomma le batterie come si ricaricano? Da quello che si evince è che con 20 nodi di vento per 24 ore si riesce a produrre energia per un po di più di 24 ore.. Giusto? E poi? Se hai una settimana di bonaccia? Presumo pertanto che alla fine ci saranno dei "volgari" generatori a Gasolio, che però non vengono menzionati.. Si parla anche di "perfezione progettuale", ma di fatto della barca nulla si può ammirare! A parte le grosse "pinne" laterali evidentemente copiate dalle navi da crociera.. Nemmeno l'osannata e celebrata zona equipaggio ci è dato sbirciare! E come qualcuno ha fatto giustamente notare non c'è mezzo pannello solare! Sarebbe invece stato davvero geniale se tutta la coperta + le vele fossero state delle ampie superfici fotovoltaiche.. Li si che sarebbe potuto essere un progetto davvero innovativo.. Comunque sia nel complesso è indubbiamente un bel veliero, ma ripeto, peccato non si veda nulla di come sia fatto.. Grazie dell'attenzione.. P.S. Per fortuna c'è il sito ufficiale in cui si può ammirare questo Yacht: www.balticyachts.fi/yachts/baltic-142-custom/ E purtroppo devo rettificare le informazioni di questo video in cui la ricarica delle batterie con vento a 20 nodi è di sole 9 ore, e non 24 come detto. Inoltre, come da me sospettato, la restante carica è garantita da generatori Diesel. E aggiungo che si tratta veramente di una bellissima nave, con una cabina armatoriale di 65 Mq e sole due cabine ospiti. Ma ben 4 cabine doppie per l'equipaggio dotate di servizi separati. In effetti disposte intorno alla cambusa. E con un "lusso" più che lodevole e inconsueto per il personale di bordo tipico di altre Imbarcazioni di queste dimensioni.

    Reduces heeling angle when the boat is sailing above certain speed. Less heeling means more comfort aboard, and also means the sails give more power. This overcomes the increase in drag when it is deployed at, I don't remember well, boat speeds above 11 knots or so. This baby can sustain 25 knots of boat speed with 25 knots of true wind speed given good enough sea condition.

    Yes, you will probably do 20% time sailing, 80% at anchor or on a marina. If the marina has shore Power, Ok. Otherwise, you will need to use generator several hours a day (about 6 hours a day I read on the web page I think). Solar pannels are not commonly seen on this size yatchs, maybe they are not significantly helpful for the power consumption of ships this size.

    Fallingwater is a poor comparison, unless you stick only to the intent. That house is a musty horror in practical use. Poor airflow and lots of moisture in the foundation from the water flowing under it resulted in a very disappointing house. Fabulous architecture, to be sure, but very poorly implemented. Ironic comparison, actually. It would appear that the yacht will have annoyingly persistent issues with birthing, since it’ll apparently need to have one side open to water at all times. Nice yacht, though.
