I am still enjoying these classes two years later. They are the highlight of my day, that little slice of joy I look forward to in my life while dealing with so many personal and family struggles and so much isolation. I rotate all of these classes over and over and never get tired of them. I love everything about them...the style of music, the enthusiasm of the instructor, the combinations themselves. I try to imagine what it would be like to take a class in person with Ernst Meisner. I feel so blessed and so privileged to have the ability and opportunity to participate in these classes! When I was training in ballet as a teenager 30-36 years ago there was no internet to expose oneself to different styles and cultures. Please keep these up as long as possible!

I am 28 years old. I have been practicing ballet for six months. For many of you you will think that I am too old to practice it. But I can tell you that this art has saved my life. I was diagnosed with severe depression and general anxiety. Part of the treatment is to exercise: so I started swimming, gymnastics, yoga... nothing helped. Until I found a video on youtube about adult practice in ballet and fell in love. I walk into class and my head shuts up. I'm not an expert yet but these videos teach me and challenge me to be a better student. Thanks so much

More ideas for future classes: more center combinations, or even a simple variation (I know that's hard while being frugal with space but if anyone can do it you can), and a cool down/deep stretch would top it off.

Dear Ernst & Rex, your online ballet lessons are absolutely marvelous and I really appreciate your efforts in sharing your expertise with us all. I am now enjoying re-watching and learning from them them for the second time, and, if I may be so bold, would like to offer my suggestions, which you kindly say you would welcome, for future lessons : The first two lessons contained demonstrations for right side movements with both voice instruction and piano accompaniment ( kudos to Rex for his delightful playing ! ) followed by demonstrations with piano accompaniment only, and I much appreciated these two approaches because the first allowed me to remember the movements and the second allowed me to concentrate on my own movements and really enjoy the movement flowing with the music. Also, I would much appreciate more instruction on the Pirouette. I realize that this might be a bit more hazardous in one’s own home, with its likely more confined spaces when compared to a ballet studio, but is nevertheless much valued. Look forward to your reply, and to your upcoming lessons ! Kind regards, Mia Gao in Montréal

The camera was zooming at really inappropriate moments during the tendu at least: It made it harder to keep up with changing directions. What is beautiful cinematography for a film or dance video can be very impractical at an instructional video. Please keep this in mind!

Hi Stella, thank you for your feedback. These first classes were produced right at the beginning of the lock down initially for our dancers who at the time needed to practice at home. So we were (and in ways still are) quite new to this. We continue to learn what works best.
