He probably had a soul alternative in mind. That or he only discovered the need after a recalculation, and at that point, he was too deep into proving himself. Keep in mind that community service doesn't just make you a better person, especially if you've been pushed around like RecD's version of Saltbaker.

@@avacadotoast5571 The 3rd phase (Salt Tango) and the 4th phase (heart + salt spires) take place somewhere completely different then the first 2 phases of the fight. It's not inside the bakery, nor is it on island 4, or the rest of inkwell. So in my mind it must be taking place in the Astral Plain, and to get their, he would need to have consumed the Wondertart, as it's very purpose was to give whoever ate it "complete control over the Astral Plain"

@@kylestubbs8867 Completely unrelated to Disney, but he also incorperated the old "Patty cake" nursery rhyme into his backstory as a mock to how the residents of DLC island abused his bakery job making him do hard labor. If memory serves me correctly, a lot of old cartoons from the 1930's incortrated a lot of fairy tale stories and nursery rhymes to appeal to younger audiences at the time.

I’m so glad that there’s finally a reason why Saltbaker is evil. He’s just an old man running a bakery all by himself, and the whole town is building up demand for his pastries, not caring about his stress enough to help him, or at least realize that he’s a person too, who has to take a break. Years of that can drive people to do some crazy stuff. Not to mention that this is just an amazing song overall!

Actually makes sense since the townsfolk that you battle aren’t relatively good people (A cult, bandit, a Mafia, a army which means war crimes and greedy gnomes). It would make genuine sense if this was the case for his betrayal.

Why is your immediate reaction to an airforce being "WAR CRIMES"? It's probably to tie in some way to the OTHER militaristic baddie you end up fighting, Werner Werman, and not the fact they're committing war crimes. It's not even implied they've committed a war crime in the song, just that they are all rude to Saltbaker, and the game itself suggests that Esther Winchester may not actually be a bandit but is rather just having fun with the role, seeing as they literally run the very place their wanted sign is plastered to.

Amazing job, what I love about your version of Saltbaker 1. His plan of controlling the Astral Plane is explored more and that he wants to create a baking world to rule and drown everything and everyone in Isle 4 2. He has a tragic backstory of being overworked and pushed around by the residents of Isle 4 and treated as an object than a living object 3. He has a sense of honor as he was willing to give Mugman and Chalice the wondertart after they beat him fair and square

First off, I wanna say that the backstory Saltbaker was given honestly made me think of the backstory parts of fnf the musical (notably whitty and garcello). Secondly, the part with the wondertart flies was very unexpected and as soon as Saltbaker started describing them, I KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT (I can't get the voice acted one out of my head, please help). Amazing cartoon villain song. It's got it all, a threatening bad guy, clever references to the inspirations, silly puns, oh and an actually relatable motive rant!

4:49 this part really got me, with its presentation. It doesn't seem like Saltbaker chose this path for himself as much as he was pushed towards it, by a community that treated him like a machine with no regards for what he wanted for himself. Well, they sure don't get to act all surprised pikachu when that doesn't turn out well.

I love how near the end we get both intermissions with Mugman & Saltbaker, as well as an actual motivation for why he wants to gain control of the Astral Plane (unless it was actually said in the games & I don't remember)

Ok, listen, I know this isn't his canon backstory, but it would make a lot of sense. I personally don't think Chef Saltbaker's niceness was ever a façade. People are only so nice for so long until they're taken for granted one too many times... Or maybe I'm looking too deep into it. Great song, as always. Edit:Spelling. As an englishman, you completely nailed the dark nursery rhyme vibe of the verse about Saltbaker's backstory (I mean, it's across the whole song really, but that one bit was especially brilliant)

"Oh, put a sock in it, you Pipe-Organ Palooka." Unironically one of the funniest things I've ever heard and the best insult ever. That aside, this was incredibly well preformed and weitten. I enjoyed every bit of this, especially all the puns. Very fun, and I'm so sad I didn't get to see it sooner! Great work, though! 💖

I really like this song! Here are some reasons. 1. I like how you gave him a reason why he wanted to control the astral plane! How he was pushed around and forced to bake without rest. 2. The amount of serious hits this bonked over my head was unbelievable! Honestly the amount of seriousness I hear in saltbaker’s voice is incredible! 3. All of these lines are very good! Especially the one at 3:49!

I LOVE the vibes from this, it just feels like a classic Disney movie song that you'd carry with you from your childhood. Has the same energy as Jafar's version of Prince Ali for me, if that makes sense

This song hits REALLY hard on some parts especially at the beginning of phase 2 and end of phase 3. Issue is there are a lot of places that don’t fit in well. It’s kind of a dice roll for me. Tell me what you think

The end lol I love how Saltbaker sits there and miss chalice and cuphead and mugman say WE HAVE COME FOR YOUR WONDERTART

This is absolutely creative! I love how you put in the lore behind Chef Saltbaker and it all makes sense. I shouldn't feel bad for him, but I did felt bad because of how the people of Inkwell Isle pressured him. It ties up with the song, which gives me some sympathy. On top of that, Rec did this song justice! Literally! Because he put a lot of emotions and energy on that. Kudos to y'all for putting this together.

Oh what a comedy scared the sh1t out of me

“This pleasure island has it’s joys, but you’ll never come back as boys” unexpected Pinocchio reference out of nowhere

I think a nice detail is that in the beginning, Mugman and Chalice say they have brought the last ingredient, and its the Pineapple from the Dogfight plane fight thingy. This is because in the first phase of the Cheif Saltbaker fight, he attacks the player with all the food they have collected except the Pineapple. Love that stuff man

The fact that he was making multiple puns in this was just killing me. It’s so unlike a villain to do that. This was great. I could listen to in on repeat and still not get over how clever some of the lyrics are!

0:06-0:13 was freaking amazing. I really wish we got more Chi-chi in this cover but honestly as it is it’s already great.

I can't believe that somebody done what I was thinking long time ago, and made it! i missed cuphead/mugman voices struggling, but it's incredible!
